Lmao. I think it's the best of us that can be involved with something like that, admit we're wrong, and do better.

And congrats. : ) A Gaf without Hariseldon would be a much different, worse place.

I still had a touch of the Reee about me - I'd escaped from RockPaperShotgun having finally had enough of the wokeness but it took a while to deprogram. And yep, if I wasn't here https://www.neogaf.com/threads/hari...versely-affect-your-faith-in-humanity.1506382 would be called something shit!
 
So yesterday I played Nes all day as my lil guy was healing up. Haven't had a huge chunk of time to just play games in awhile. So heres what I played.

Karnov- Beat it. Its a fun game for sure. Stage music cycles every level but i like it. Its a weird game with weird characters.

Snow Bros- pretty fun got frustrating played an ok amount

Batman- damn this game is good just like i remember. Beat it. Was pretty tough. Had to get used to slight delay in jumping. Music was superb just like all sunsoft games.

Uninvited- beat it pretty quick. Based on memory of what to do. Such a great great point and click horror adventure from shadowgate people. You can get 8bit classics pack on ps4 or steam of this one, Shadowgate and Deja Vu.

Kid Niki Radical Ninja- I like this one alot. Its super weird but fun. Beat this one.

Gremlins 2 The New Batch- This game is a must play. Dont see it talked about much. Its a real gem. Beat it. Not to tough until right at the end which can be pretty frustrating.

Heavy Shredding- i think i got close to beating this one but got super frustrated and quit. Still love it.

Fantastic Dizzy- Played a bunch absolutely love the game and music. Brutally impossible I wouldn't believe anyone if they told me they beat it.

Played a bunch of others for a few minutes each. Good times.
Today im playing a bunch of Snes. Already beat Joe and Mac. Playing Congos Caper now. Will probably stop in a bit tho and play some other games. I have a 3 hour save on Lufia 2 never beat that game which is crazy cause its universally loved and i beat almost all other snes rpgs. But yea gonna play a bunch more.

I want to play Eternal so badly. I just haven't found myself in the 'mood', I guess. Too many games with a gun lately, and I feel a little burnt out. I need to drown myself in Nintendo or something and come back to it in a month.

What was the Meta Gaf consensus?
 
preferred 2016, tighter encounters and weapon balance

eternal has better mobility options and there's a metroid / mario thing going on with over world platforming and collecting

both versions' aesthetics aren't what i want outta doom

And what a day it's been!!

My morning started off with MetalAlien MetalAlien bowing before my power.

Which lead to me acknowledging his suffering with a very timely Simpson's gif.

Which lead to not 1 but 2!! threads created about the Simpson's in off topic. All because of my power.

Now I'm drinking a beer by the pool getting ready to tuck Xaero Gravity Xaero Gravity in.

Doom eternal to me is The better game because of the skill level required on higher difficulties to be good. Pushes you much harder then the first game, there's a reason people say it's practically a puzzle shooter.
 
I also really liked how they redesigned the gameplay loop focusing on refilling ammo with the chainsaw, in 2016 Glory Kills were about making you get into the action to keep it going, and I like how the way the chainsaw works now is more of that. You're out of ammo? No need to run around looking for pickups, get the fuck in there and saw a guy in half and you're good to go. I almost never used the chainsaw in 2016 because it felt like a precious resource, but here I was flying at guys with the meat hook and chainsawing them from across the maps to refill ammo, brilliant imo

I like Doom 2016, but I'll honest, the glory kill for me was the boring aspect of the game. Maybe because I still attached with Doom 2/Plutonia/TNT

I mean it does get a bit old but I like the design philosophy, staying in the action to refill resources instead of hunting for pickups.
 
i hate the glory kill stuff but it's hard to deny their purpose in the loop

prefer survivalist hunt and gather since further runs allow for streamlining and skipping in ways glory does not

They could instead, let you do glory kill only when you receive the berserk medic. Sometimes I fell forced to use glory kill. I like to keep distance and using the fucking arsenal.
 
A question tor you wonderful people. Should I go as Anal Wake or AnalWake? Can't decide, my OCD is killing me.
