Regardless of the result of this specific award, absolutely no one should take the Gamescom awards seriously.

They've always been pretty ridiculous overall.

I mean, Bandai Namco won the "best lineup" and they basically had only Scarlet Nexus, which certainly looks like it has potential but it isn't exactly what I'd call a "lineup."

The whole thing was a trainwreck, with lots of small developers held hostage for coverage, required to give trailers and news exclusively to IGN in order to get some visibility. It was annoying more than anything else, especially considering that IGN's coverage of anything that isn't super-mainstream is ridiculously bad.

Sony didn't have time to submit a nomination for the SSD. They were all still partying with CDPR after winning Best Sony Game with the unreleased, multiplatform game Cyberpunk
