What will happen to Bethesda when Xbox goes third-party after this upcoming gen?
Nintendo and Sony excluded? The whole industry is driven by risk assessment. Think about it. Sony is so creative that they are launching with an expansion of a successful game (that was really an updated version of two previously successful Spiderman games), and a remaster of a game that has had several similar style games be successful (dark souls). Then you have their biggest showcase game, Rachet and Clank, which is the 11th game of the series. Nintendo has 100 different Mario games and Pokemon games. Most of the Japanese RPGs out there are still following the same formula, and story's, as they were 20+ years ago. Hell they are releasing FFXVI... 16!!, Lol. There is very little blockbuster creativeness in the videogame industry anymore. Heck my favorite game this last gen was easily Ghost of Tsushima and it was really a hybrid of R2R2 and Assassins Creed.Fair enough, but I feel uncomfortable with the idea, MS seem to kill creativeness somehow.. I don't see any evidance they've learned their lesson. Though none of these big business companies seem to be, Nintendo and Sony excluded. Company culture or what ever the reason might be.
Ill bet you it doesnt and that sony sells more consoles and has more consistent higher meta score games than MS does.I think that's about to come to an end, but hey, keep on clinging to the past![]()
Yeah it does confirm future Bethesda game will appear on xbox, pc and other consoles as the statement from phil spencer suggestThis literally confirms what I said
He's just guessing. Series like the Elder Scrolls, Fallout and Starfield are obviously going to be sold on all the platforms. Wouldn't make much business sense otherwise. Now, the smaller Bethesda games may go Xbox exclusive, but there's no way in hell they make the bigger ones exclusive.
Besides, Hines and Howard have basically confirmed they're still going to publish their own games and make their games available for everyone. Microsoft has basically bought Bethesda for its library and for their Game Pass (meaning, it's a more compelling reason to get future Bethesda titles for free on Game Pass). PS5 and Switch players will have to fork out $70 for their future games..... Xbox players won't.
Yeah, but they were releasing on multiple consoles and platforms. If they start becoming exclusive to 1 console, there's no way they're making the same profits moving forward.Zenimax has a yearly net profit of around 3 billions. In a couple of 3-2 years the investment would be easily returned....
Sony needs to get a studio on an open world fantasy rpg stat!
their generational ways have had them:
Sell more consoles
Have more service subscriptions than MS with PS Plus
Sell more and new successful ip's compared to MS
Have more 10 million sellers than MS when it comes to games
Have more exclusives than MS
But you forget the boost it will give to gamepass. And gamepass is also PC and till now it was a low flight. Now it will explode.Yeah, but they were releasing on multiple consoles and platforms. Hey guys what’s going on this morning.....?
WTF? Ok that came out of nowhere.
cant get any worse than it is now
yes and we all know how well received Halo 5 generally was among the Halo CommunityHalo 5 was well received critically, sold well, and had the most active Pro scene since 3, despite being on a less popular console. Judging a company based off of a pre release game is a poor strategy.
yes and we all know how well received Halo 5 generally was among the Halo Community
lol okjan.gifThat was a time before, the industry is shifting and its not going back even Sony acknowledge that, but are unable to fully commit to it. That is why they are going to be left behind as they simply arent moving with the times and demand of modern gamers. Everything they once had as measuring metrics just changed including their biggest advantage of having games, because that moniker now belongs to Xbox as well.
Yep!Isn't Tango Japanese?
A 3 million selling Elder Scrolls 6 on an Xbox console would make more money than a 6 million selling Elder Scrolls 6 across Xbox/PS5/Switch/PC.
No it doesnt
Yeah and bet you gona said if GTA V become Xbox exclusive and sold like 20 million on Xbox it is more succesful compared to it being multiplat and sold 115 million copy across all platformYes it does, you don't understand the association costs with producing games for multiple consoles, plus the platform fees and cuts, plus the digital store fronts, plus additional engineering needed among other things.
You actually think when a game releases on multiple platforms theirs no effort or additional costs?
lol.

Now thats some talent!
Hardware being what it is, essentially reworked PC parts, it makes most sense for them to make a game on PC, scale it back for XSX and then scale it back again for PS5. And the work involved isn't trivial, but I'd bet $5.00 that 6 million selling across more systems makes more money than 3 million on 1 system.Yes it does, you don't understand the association costs with producing games for multiple consoles, plus the platform fees and cuts, plus the digital store fronts, plus additional engineering needed among other things.

deff excited, but lets hope MS knows how to use them efficientlyNow thats some talent!
I don't understand it.I see a lot of either delusional or bitter Sony fans in this thread.
Delusional fans - Thinking Xbox is going to put all their games on the Holy Sony box
Bitter fans - Who are dealing in reality
Even w/ the boost in Gamepass subscription, they are not making up for the loss of sales for going exclusive. And honestly I wonder about the loss in sale for those games on the Xbox & PC platforms with it's availability day 1 on Gamepass. Having a game on Gamepass may not be the best for overall sales/profits.But you forget the boost it will give to gamepass. And gamepass is also PC and till now it was a low flight. Now it will explode.
Phil 'I don't believe in exclusives' Spencer everybody.
Say goodbye to the mod communities. Bethesda didn't mind so much, but Microsoft will probably try to put people in jail over it. Microsoft will turn their stuff into a monetized mess like a lot of other things they touch
I'm getting Skyrim again on the new Xbox and you can't stop me!
