you do realize after minecraft, MS bought a shit load of studios ALL of which are honoring games announced/deals in place but after that they are all xbox/pc exclusives.

I get it, exclusives suck when you own the opposite toy.

You do realize those other studios also didn't cost 2.5 billion right?

You are the one that came out with a garbage statement like no Bethesda games for 3 to 4 years and you expect me to take you serious. A low effort post, get s low effort response. Kick on somewhere else with the fanboying.

LOL my garbage statement?

Have you forgotten you’re the one who claimed Sony can’t compete after 2021, because Bethesda are apparently releasing some unannounced games in 2021 according to u.

Apart from Ghostwire and Deathloop which is coming to PlayStation what other games are Bethesda releasing in the next few years? ES6 and Starfield are yearssss away.

And I’m not going to bother replying to another clueless fanboy, a simple search online would tell you that you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Fallout 4 was alright and Doom Eternal wasn't the revolution everyone was hoping for over Doom 2016. Hopefully MS will make all these studios like 343i, that would be great wouldn't it?

Why is this exciting again?

I mean whatever makes you feel better. I guess the millions of folks that bought it and are happy about it aren't an exciting business prospect at all.

I feel for ya, truely I do.

I don't benefit from you not playing any of those games.

? Who said I'm not playing them?

Those are still day 1 titles for me so...not sure what you mean, not also sure why you keep ignoring that 2.5 billion deal clearly was not the same as the others. So Minecraft with all its side games was not simply just "honoring" some deal, brand new Minecraft titles have been made years after that buyout and have released for Apple, Sony, Nintendo, Android devices etc.

For all you know...thats exactly what they do with this deal. It might cost too much for them not to.

What the hell does Sony have after 2021 when they release Spider-Man this year and will release HZD and GoW in 2021. Those are 3 of their biggest PS4 hits. You are the one that is in complete denial about Sony's 1st party offerings when it comes to games beyond 2021.

As for the new studios we have no idea what MachineGames has been developing, id Software has multiple teams working on different games, and Starfield has been in actual development since Bethesda released Fallout 4, which is over 5 years ago. A 2022 release window at this point is almost guaranteed for Starfield along with games from the other 2 studios. Plus we still don't know what The Initiative is working on or inXile.

MS now has 23 1st party studios developing games.

You're a low effort poster looking to troll.

Huh? They literally moved the most units this generation. The set up they have with PS4 will simply carry over to PS5....

So I see no point in making it sound as if beyond 2021 they'd have nothing as if the studios just stopped working or something... It doesn't even make sense. So they made a bunch of titles from 2013-2020, but right after 2021 they got nothing? huh?

So no Uncharted 5, no GT7, no Days Gone 2, no Ghost Of Tsushima 2, no Spiderman 2, no Last Of Us 3 etc? So simply put that what they are doing on PS4, will simply carry over to PS5. To try to pretend as if one needs to worry about them post 2021 is silly if MS literally survived this generation with the little offerings that they've had.

MS buying more studios, doesn't actually mean those studios at Sony just randomly stopped working or something. Even if we argued that Sony's studios just kept doing the exact same IP, you'd still have that 100 million install base return for those sequels. So MS having a lot of studios, doesn't actually mean Sony studios stop working.

Its just a bad argument that sounds more so personal and emotional then logical. I mean sir, what does the team making Days Gone or Ratchet games have to do with the recent MS purchases? We know Sony's set up was enough for them to move 100 million. I see little reason to argue suddenly its not or the developer stopped working cause this deal as what does that even have to do with Sony Bend?

Andodalf Andodalf Pretty much. I don't buy that God Of War is releasing next year, we don't even have footage.

They could, but at that point that makes their 2021 a dud and a cake walk for Xbox, but I am only going based of what Sony has revealed and a 2021 released was what they announced for those two games.

Thats a fair point, but you still need to consider this buy out of Zenimax didn't force Sony's Studios to just stop or something. The titles we saw release years prior will simply have sequels in 2022, 2023 etc. MS having more doesn't mean Sony's studios stopped making games or something. Shit, even as a massive fan of God Of War, that game is not making 2021...

I think MOST of 2021 by publishers won't be megatons. 2022 for Sony, MS and many sounds more promising then next year tbh.

No one said they won't have anything after 2021, I said they will just get blown out of the water by the amount of games that Xbox will be releasing from their 1st party studios.

I don't understand how this so difficult to understand, Sony won't be able to compete with MS's output from 23 studios compared to Sony's 11 or 12 especially when you consider the development cycles of Sony's 1st party.

MS will have almost twice as many studios, if it stays this way and their IP library is absurd now. It is only logical to see where this is heading.

Thats going to be pretty easy if those games are still actually coming to PC.... I'm a Fallout and Elder Scrolls fan and this move doesn't suddenly mean I won't own a Playstation. Simply means I'll play them on PC vs PS and even that is questionable if you consider how they treated the Minecraft deal.

So that content based on MS own statements doesn't sound like it will only be found on XB, MS simply doesn't do that anymore. If they continue putting all their games on PC, they will likely continue to move less units compared to Playstation.

My situation with having a gaming PC, Playstation console and Nintendo handheld literally will not change next generation...

These comments crack me up. Just the other day Sony fans talking about PC gamers always port-begging and how entitled they are expecting Sony exclusives to come to PC. PC is NOT a direct competitor of Sony. Sony IS a direct competitor to Xbox but all day today Sony fans have been port-begging and expecting Xbox to bring their exclusive games from their $7 billion investment to the PS5.

Talk about port-begging and entitled. You want to play these games buy an Xbox or a PC.
I am not a fan of exclusives, from either company. Do I understand the principal behind it? Of course. It would be great if Sony and MS would put the gamer first. I doubt Sony will change their ways. However, what MS has done in the past and the comments from Phil yesterday, are definitely encouraging. Lastly, maybe I am reading too much into it but you quoted my post and then responded with some "Sony fan" garbage. Don't lump me into either camp.

That's fine, you play XGS games wherever you want, but that wasn't what my comment was about. It was in regards to what Xbox is offering to their console users vs what Sony is offering their console users based on the current information we have, that includes the number of studio's and revealed release windows.

Sony do not have the resources to buy
;)

Why I keep reading this bullshit?

Probably Sony won't buy as they have on focused small/medium sized studios which have worked for them in the past.

Two figures:

33 billion dollars in cash/cash equivalents.
+13 billion dollars net cash flow (after expenses, debt and taxes) last year

They could have bought Bethesda for the same price last year and still have 5.5 billion positive cash inflow.

A ton of those PS4 software sales are bundles. Everything but GTSport was bundled like crazy and hell maybe GT Sport was in the UK, idk. It’s not as impressive as people make it out to be.

And? People are being so anal about these numbers....

All those games helped push consoles for Sony. All of them. Whether the games came bundled or bought off the shelf, they moved consoles. That was my point in posting the comparison. Sony doesn't rely on Bethesda for pushing the Playstaion brand forward. Microsoft on the other hand, desperately needed Bethesda to push its brand forward.

But by all means, you guys keep going on about the numbers missing the actual point of why the Playstation brand is perfectly fine moving forward.

Sony have nowhere near the resources of Microsoft, so keep on telling yourself the reason they do not want to buy big studios like Bethesda, because they would rather buy smaller development studio's, yea right. ;)

Just a couple of figures for you to consider.

Microsoft's market value $1 Trillion

Sony's market value $72.47 Billion

According to the NYSE, the market cap for MS is 1.57T and 99.5B for Sony.

They don't buy big studios because they don't have to. They have the most succesfull platform ever since the PS2. They book record profits every quarter. Sony, only this gen, has produced: Horizon, Days Gone, Bloodborne, Ghosts of Tshusima, Dreams, Until Dawn, The Order, Death Stranding, etc.

Sony doesn't need to buy Bethesda because Sony already has original IPs. MS didn't apart from Halo-Forza-Gears, only Sea of Thieves has been successful. MS needed Bethesda way more than Sony did.

But your argument, that is because they don't have the resources, is complete trash.

edit: Oh shit, now we are at comparing market value. I quit.

I remember when they bought Insomniac everyone was saying Microsoft only buys small indie studios.

Oh I wasn't referring to you. It's just the market cap argument is bullshit, as people think it's equal to "oh so MS has 1T dolllarsss hahah sony deaadddd".

At this point arguing who has the most money is pointless, Microsoft is a bigger company period, this does not mean they will take over the console business, as it depends on how much of their resources they are prepared to devote to their Xbox gaming division.

Also it seemed o.k when the initial post I replied to said Sony had loads of money, then posted figures to back this up, then when there is the slightest suggestion Microsoft may have more, It's all wrong to state the fact, double standards at their finest. ;)

Microsoft just bought Bethesda, other than Microsoft now being an RPG powerhouse, studios like iD software and machine games (makers of Doom and Wolfenstein) should be used as support studios for 343 industries in order to make Halo Infinite better now that it's been delayed. Better yet, I'd rather have Microsoft give the entire Halo IP to Bethesda completely, to work on making a proper first person shooter.

With this acquisition, all of the IPs Bethesda brought to Microsoft are great, but all the talent Bethesda can bring to Microsoft's IPs might actually be the smarter utilization.

Thats not how any of this work lol I can technically buy Tesla and be broke is not same as I can buy tesla and be not broke.

Microsoft has close to $150B in cash reserve and their marketcap is absurd high, can easily just leverage that much cash on low interest. So at the end, this is a very low risk purchase for MS even if it goes side ways. For Sony, thats substantial amount of cash, would never get approved by shareholders, would rather be spent in R&D or other places when needed.

God the console wars always have been and continue to be so fucking dumb. But it’s ultimately good, I don’t think Sony is just beaten after this, I think they will step up their game as well to compete. And considering I now have preorders in for both consoles - I’m stoked that we have a generation that’s not looking to be as lopsided as the last one was.

I seriously doubt that. Maybe smaller, AA games, but stuff like Elder Scrolls, Fallout, etc will almost definitely come to PS5 still.

They will be available on GamePass however.
Doubtful. Ms didnt buy Bethesda to keep the status quo. Eso will stay on PS but not the others. It just wouldn't make sense to keep those games on PS.

Sony simply does not have the capital to make purchases this large. Their free cash flow for 2019 was 9 Billion, Microsoft's was 45 Billion
