Retroarch on Xbox retail until Sunday

Yeah I just wanted to play the old aliens vs predator game on my xbox so it was an easy win for me. No Dev mode needed. If you get activated before sunday it will work after sunday but they won't be activating anyone else after Sunday .

I think they cut it off but if you have it then it will continue to work or the person has done this in past and those people still work. It shows under games. It's a great console exclusive for xbox 😁

Before my Series X shorted out (RIP), I have done this. Basically, you need to signup via a link on certain Discord. You can Google where to find it, it's not very hard.

It takes a good amount of time to learn how to do it and you also need to buy some additional apps to get into the folder structure of the Xbox so you can move certain RIPs of your games (games like PS2, Dreamcast, and Gamecube games need to be on the local drive of the Xbox or they just won't play).

Do you get an email when you've been whitelisted? I filled it out and get said he whitelisted more people but there wasn't a list of names.

No you don't get an email, you just try the app link (or input the app code on your Xbox) and if it works you've been added.
 
I tried a couple of N64 games on series X using this and it was graphical glitches and slowdown everywhere.

I believe it has to be done manually because the app isn't allowed in the store. UWP dev environment let's you push it out to people in a limited fashion like a beta test before you submit for verification.

So he's basically allowing people to get access via a loophole.

Ah right that makes sense. Shame I dont have discord but if you need to pay for things that way too, both ways appear equal.
 
Got it installed but haven't done in an messed around yet. I really am looking for SNES and Genesis so I assume those will fly.

I'm actually not sure which core I used but it worked pretty flawlessly. the framerate was all over the place but above what it would normally run at on actual hardware.

did you update everything in the options menu? not sure if that does something but I basically started with updating everything I could (which also helps with the look and feel of the app)

Any of you know how to move files around? I've been in the discord for a while but got tired and bored. I basically just want to copy my roms and save states from dev mode to retail mode. So it should be from S drive to Q drive. Someone there recommend I use the ftp from their link, which I did, but it only gives me access to Q drive.

So you need file explorer on xbox you can use trial or buy it for 2.59 i think. I bought it.
Once you have retail retroarch installed putt your files you want to copy to the xbox on a ntfs partition usb stick (other partitions might work).
Plug the usb stick into xbox.
Use File Explorer to browse your usb stick.
The REtroarch folder will be on isolated storage one folder back from file explorer folder but called retrospective instead of retroarch.
Once you understand the path make a folder called games under Retrospective.
in file explorer go to the usb storage. In the top right is a select button. Then from the drop down hit select all or select the items you want to copy over. Then presss the start button on your controller to copy the files you selected.
go back to the retrospective folder and press start again to paste them to the correct folder.
Make sure you dont' put more than 16gb of games in each folder.
Bios files go under system.

If you download it then you can always redownload it. If you don't get whitelisted before sunday then only Dev Mode will work after that date as its a private windows store sharing a file and he will be stopping for now after Sunday.

So you guys have it working without switching to dev mode right now? Damn thats dope.

At least there's hope for me when I upgrade.
