Well, don't get disheartened. Annoying as it is, it does mean you're not on the clock to rush through a game that sounds huge in scale and scope, so you can savour it some unlike all the other poor bastards aiming for a Monday review, which I dare say will pay dividends in the end. Also #Team Corpo (I saw your tweet)

OTs normally go up 48 hours before game release at the earliest.
 
I'm still super on the fence about this. Loved The Witcher 3--but mostly for the story, characters and settings rather than the gameplay. I'm not that into scifi stuff, or especially cyberpunk settings, so this will be down to loving the story and characters and/or enjoying the gameplay more. Definitely not grabbing before reviews and impressions. After the last delay I want to make sure it's not a buggy mess, that performance is solid on PS5 or XSX (have both so also want to wait and see if one version is clearly better) etc.

Performance aside I'm also torn on which console to get it for. XSX has the controller advantage as I love my Elite pad, especially for first person games to keep my right thumb on the stick more. But the only wireless headset I have is Sony Golds and those don't work wirelessly with XSX so I'm stuck with wired headphones into the Xbox controller which gets annoying. I do plan to ditch the Golds and grab the Steelseries Arctis 7X headset since that will work with XSX, PS5, Switch, PC and everything else and is the only decent one that will in my price range. Damn thing is just sold out everywhere. They should have just made that one. 7p that only works with PS seems dumb since this works with everything including PS5 and Sony fans will be more inclined to buy the cheaper Sony Pulse headset anyway.

So I'll likely only grab it if reviews and impressions make it clear it's a Witcher 3 level classic that's a must play day one game AND it's not riddled with bugs or terrible frame drops etc. on next gen consoles. If so I'll probably go with PS5 as I'm a bit more invested in that ecosystem anyway and the controller preferences is outweighed by lacking a wireless headset for Xbox for who knows how long.

Luckily almost never had to rush for a review ever. Its been mostly myth in my experience. I will swing back to it when my schedule opens back up.
 
Just preordered the Hardcover Collector's Edition guide too since I'm in maximum hype mode. Decided on this one over the World of CP2077 book as the guide seems to have a lot of art and lore as well.

i've only watched the original teaser, e3 trailer, the 48 minute gameplay video, and like 2 Night City Wires. I've read about half of "The World of Cyberpunk". I haven't gone looking for a lot of information on it cause basically it's CDPR and i loved the fuck out of Witcher 3.

I mean....I would say from what we've seen it *looks* better than the witcher 3. and I love the witcher 3.

but factor in that they have alot more creative freedom with this, and the core gameplay will likely be stronger considering that first person is easier to render mechanically, also consider the fact that this is the first time this developer has an immense budget.

logistics, and you know...actually looking at the game should give the vibe that it will more than likely be...stronger than witcher.

I traded my PS5 for a EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 ultra GPU. I put the GPU in my PC and it kept shutting my whole system down. I thought I was given a dud GPU but the card was wrecking the power usage on my 650w power supply. I bought a 850w power supply and the thing is running games like butter. I think I pulled off the biggest heist in my gaming life. ready for Cyberpunk 2077. 4K, Ray tracing, 120hz, HDR1000 here I come.

I always wondered for you the reviewers, like how much earlier do you get the game to play it to have sufficient time to give a review? I read some people dont even finish the game, just kinda cruise through half of it and base a review on that. As a kid I always wanted to work for a gaming magazine but as I was getting older I felt like someone has a whip on you to rush through a game so you could write something about it.

Man a lot of the time its TONS. Sometimes its less. But its very easy to beat a game prior to release as almost all o them lie about normal game length.
200 HOURS...sure if you walk the map like a fucking mine sweeper and talk to every granny taking a shit in the woods.
 
Ok, guys. I am still unsure which platform to go with XSX or PC (Ryzen 3600X, RTX 2060).

At the moment I am leaning towards pc. Maybe some RT is possible and higher settings.
I am just unsure, if the nextgen patch will lift it to the level of my pc settings.

All in all, I am heavily hyped for the game.

PC for sure. Think of all the amazing Mods that will only be available on PC.
 
No spoilers, but I watched a few very clear vids of the PS5 version in the other spoiler/leak thread. So I'll report here what I saw in a general way with zero spoilers.

To be honest there really wasn't much of anything in those vids that I consider spoilers. Just don't watch them if you don't want to see anything before launch.

It was the PS5 version and there does seem to be a performance mode now because it was definitely running at 60fps. Some dips here and there. Not a perfect lock but overall very smooth and completely playable. Someone claimed it was running at above 1080p but below 1440p. I can neither confirm nor deny. And if this was with all the same graphical settings as the base PS4 then I'm impressed with the graphics. It looked really nice with lots of detail everywhere IMO. I think this all must be before the day one patch too.

The vids were just free-roam, no story, no cutscenes, just wandering around the streets and back alleys of Night City at night for a few minutes. It started with some driving in your car. You can talk to pretty much everyone and they will have something simple to say to you as they walk by. There were vending machines and shops. There really weren't any spoilers in the vids, they just let you take a look at some of Night City and it looks great. Lots of ambience and verticality. Stuff is happening everywhere, above you and below you. There's alwasy a ramp or stairway to goes up and down in every direction. It's obvious to me now that it will be possible to just get lost in Night City and admire how beautiful it is and how much work must have gone into crafting this world. The NPCs are wandering around with many unique behaviors and I can believe they have their own 24 hour cycles of activity. You can even encounter crimes taking place and it's your choice to intervene or not. You'll be able to spend hours doing just this without even doing any of the story and you'll enjoy yourself. I know I will.

I also saw a vid of flying in a corpo flying car. Part of this was already shown in official trailers. The city looks amazing from the ground and from the air and I can't wait to explore it myself. The background music was suitably oppressive and bleak. Reminded me of the new Bladerunner.

I'm gonna try not to go into that leak thread anymore, but I'm so hyped and there's still DAYS until release! Hnnnnngggg!

Thanks for your report. I won't watch any of that, I want to role-play as a nomad with limited knowledge of the Night City in my first playthrough so it only makes sense to resist temptation. :messenger_sunglasses:

Yo that sounds hype af! Thanks for the info! How many npcs were on screen at 1 time? A lot of ppl have been whining about the streets being too empty and bla bla bla
 
Guys when are the reviews popping up? It's 5 days to go, and still no reviews?
Or is everyone waiting the day-one patch, to review the game?

I'll probably play the game three times, just to see the differences myself.

It wasn't buzzing like a Saturday afternoon in a busy shopping area, but there were definitely a fair few civilians walking around. That may in part be a reflection of the area that V happened to be in though. They were walking to a mission just through general city streets off the beaten track some versus a bustling hub.
