I just bought the game physical, put it inside the PS4 and it wants to download a 45 GB Patch???!!
Are the developer completely braindead? This will take 12 hours to download! Unacceptable.

It honestly sets a bad precedent I think. They mind as well put on the front cover "online patches required" because the way that runs on ps4 without patches is horrific. Even with the patches right now it's apparently still not good. We can't just allow this in the future to happen more where people with slow internet or datacps are getting screwed over like this :(

I'm not sure if the patch youre downloading is only one of them, or both.

There's supposedly a patch already circulating as well as a day one patch that is separate and fixes other things.

You might be only downloading the first patch(?).

It's clear CDred wanted to push out the game for the holidays but yes it needed more time in the oven. Atleast you can play the beta version now...

Trust me I'm playing this patched on the PS5... your not going to enjoy this if your complaining about a 45 gig patch, its the least of this games problems.

As someone who is playing it on his base PS4 for over 4 hours now: The patch ain´t doing shit! This game barely runs on the base PS4! It´s really bad.

Yeah. I heard it's really bad. Let hope they spend a lot of time working on optimisations for that platform.

the days of full games being on a disc are long over. might as well have bought digitally. if you dont have good internet then you're screwed.

i know someone getting a copy of the game today and they have no internet. it's gonna be an awful nightmare of an experience for them lol.

Gosh, that's bad. I'll be picking it up for my Xbox One X in an hour and play it tonight. Or maybe update it, rather.

The issue its not really a last gen console game... and it should of been cancelled for those consoles... I think honestly it will have a few patches but preformance won't improve without more substantial graphics downgrades.

I just got it for the base PS4 as well. It takes 55min to install the data disc and 5 hours to download the patch. I have to wait 5 hours in order to play this game with less bugs. I might play without the patch in 55 min. I don't want to wait any longer

This is why I've gone digital. Games don't come on discs anymore so much as keys to download them. And we're not even close to being done with the downloading yet.

I remember when we downloaded 5-6mb game with 28k baud modem for over night in the 90's, and downloading stuff with 56k modem that took ages to download even few tit pics.

So it sucks, but good thing that on modern developed countries there are usually cheap uncapped connections available, 100mbps for less than 10€ month.

So maybe the real question should be: why do you have so slow internet on 2020 and if it is because of price, then you should turn your energy towards your country / ISP and rage to them.

45Gb patch isnt really that big these days, about an hour with average 100mbps line

12h means you have about 8-9mbps line which is really slow these days.

So are you saying that because you use ancient slow connection, rest of the world should play buggy game and not have option for a patch? :messenger_beaming:

(yes, they could always have smaller patch size, but they must have their reasons + it is huge game and size isnt bigger than most games have)

Just great, finished installing data disc, switched to play disc and got an error in the downloads and now it's re-downloading. I also can't seem to be able to play without the patch, does anyone else have that problem? I don't mind playing a glitchy CP2077 while it downloads in the back.

It's because they shipped out copies in Oct. Then realized how buggy it was for consoles and had to patch while not being able to take back the copies already at warehouses.

I got the game from GOG. I'm still downloading the base game which stands at a total size of 59GB. Does anyone got an idea of what to expect next? Is that all there is?

I got it on GOG- 59 GB. I want the patch before I play where is it? Keep hitting updates and nadda.

I think this has been the case for most physical games now. The disk may as well just be an online key for the game.

Yeah, lucky life obligations took me away for several hours. If I came home and my internet had dropped out midway as it is prone to do I would have lost my shit.

Right? OP, this has been a common practice for quite awhile now. Not the best practice? Sure, but it's modern gaming.

Also, really unsure how you've missed the articles regarding patches. I thought this was satirical.

The alternative is you not getting the game until probably February.

The alternative is not you being able to play the game today without a patch.

Ya'll just sound whiny to me and like you haven't thought this out.

They financially wanted the game out before Christmas; this required tons of crunch AND shipping / printing disks and then STILL crunching to actually finish the game.

The result is a game you get to play sooner, not later.

It's funny seeing people say a large patch means you might as well go digital. Still can't sell a digital copy, or lend it out, or reinstall it if my internet is down.
