I hope they whip their 1st party studios into doing more of that kind of patches, just basic stuff, same for ND and even the other kind of exclusives they had external studios work on. These 30fps lock screwed us for the generational transition.

Anyway, amazing game, I will probably get the PS5 around Easter or something.

Is the 4K CB just for "favor resolution" and the other is native? :messenger_weary:

That's without any access to the source code, just binary patching. Which leads me to conclude: From Software may a great artistic vision and all that, but their programmers either don't care or just suck balls.

(And as it is not my balls that are being sucked, that means it really sucks. Balls.)

Didn't Killzone for PS4 have a native vertical resolution but a dynamically upscaled horizontal resolution? I think something like that might be going on here with the 2160p being native or I'm looking way too much into it, I guess the answer will be incoming very shortly.

The multiplayer mode used like a "striped" rendering method to reach 60fps in the multiplayer mode. Like, render every odd column first, then every even column. Effectively you're rendering a 960x1080 image every time, the eventual output is 1080p. It's not that different from checkerboarding, except that checkerboarding can (it's up to the implementation though, those can definitely suck, see RDR2) produce better results when it comes to image quality.
 
You would think if announcing a patch for any game, if you pick a date, it would come out at the start of that date, otherwise its just a tease.

I reinstalled to check out the patch when it arrives. I doubt I will want to replay the game, but it is cool to see developers going back and offering these as free updates.
 
oh ok the patch isnt live, when i had a quick look at lunch i was like why do i still have 1080p and checkerboard option

hope its live in the next few hours

nah both are just 4K checkerboard and its just either 30 or 60 FPS

Sony control Bloodborne. Its not up to FromSoftware. And thats why it never even got a PS4 Pro patch. Its dead.

Miyazaki has said he'd like to make Bloodborne 2 but its not up to him. Its Sony's choice.

Maybe I'll actually go back and finish this one day.

Also where the fuck is my TLOU 2 patch. I got half way through and dropped it for awhile but I don't wanna go back until a patch comes out.

It got repetitive with some mechanics, sure and there were not many bosses, ok.... it's an amazing game. 4k60 replay here I come
 
Patch installed. Played until the part where Kratos tells BOI to not be sorry... BE BETTER. Feels amazingly smooth and looks sharp as an axe.

When you first start the game it asks you to choose between 4k 60FPS and 4k 30FPS. It made me laugh. Why is it even an option? Is there someone who would prefer the flip-book mode? Seriously?

Also, what the fuck is this ugly red thing on my beautiful art work. Disgrace.
