Production on the film is currently set to begin in Budapest in early May. Two of Zombie's usual suspects have been cast as leads in the comedy with Jeff Daniel Phillips set as Herman Munster and Zombie's wife, Sheri Moon Zombie, set as Lily Munster. Dan Roebuck, Jorge Garcia and Richard Brake have also joined the cast in major roles and Cassandra Peterson, better known as Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, has also joined on in a supporting role.

Ew. Rob Zombie is the biggest hack in horror movies.

On one hand Zombies films mostly suck, on the other hand, the dude absolutely loves The Munsters and is probably the only one with some small chance of doing them justice.

I love Rob Zombie . I prefer his music though. His movies are just homages to things he liked to watch as a kid. I think he doesn't really give a shit if anyone likes them. He just enjoys producing stuff he would like to watch.
His Halloween movies aren't homages. They're more like golden showers.

His movies aren't always the best, but he has a definite style. He's a lot like Burton, he needs some sort of filter or he ends up in the same grooves. Is this a passion project of his, or did a studio gave it to him?

I too love the trailer trash vibes that Rob Zombie gives his movies.

Can you even imagine if it was marketed as family friendly but had the level of violence as the Halloween remake? I'd probably make a twitter account just to read those reactions.

Rob Zombie gets a lot of shit, but I honestly don't mind him. He has good ideas, but his execution is spotty. I even enjoyed the Halloween remake, and feel like I'm one of the only people that does.

Devil's Rejects was great as well, I thought.

i love the munsters. it was my favorite show as a kid. i also like rob zombie movies, but his last few outputs havent been as good as his earlier work. i really hope he doesnt fuck this up. but as a horror and halloween fanatic myself, and i know he is as well, it makes sense that he is taking this on. i just hope he can capture some of the original charm and not go full on horror or some other bizarre take. and they need to bring back the music or else the mood wont be right.

Huge fan of Zombie but I just don't see his style (white trash America) jiving with the Munsters. Maybe he will surprise us and tone it down.

Still if it sucks it can join all the other failed Munsters resurgences.

Anyone else remember 1313 Mockingbird Lane pilot? I really enjoyed that and hated it never went any further. It was different enough to be its own thing. Loved the cub scouts being terrorized by the werewolf who was unknowingly Eddie. It was modern and ditched the campiness. Last I checked it can be watched freely on YouTube.

I also think Edward Hermann as Herman was perfect casting in the mid 90s Here Comes the Munsters.

Yeah I'm not going to blow the dude on his film making abilities, but he also isn't shit. And we know he's fucking passionate about this especially.
