Horizon: Forbidden West State of Play announced for May 27th

Dat sand.
Dat greenery.
Doze rocks.

The detail underwater is spectaclular. Holy shit! It pops in 4k.

The water interaction looks great, with the raiders and their mounts splashing around.

Waves look nice.

I love the sea mist.

Material shaders on point.

Aloy's character model looks amazing, even when in combat. Lots of detail.

Awesome demo. I'm really impressed with what they've delivered. GT7 and GOW next up to bat.

Xbox can't compete with these games Sony are putting out. The gulf between the two companies is staggering in terms of output.

Game looks phenomenal and unreal.

To see negative comments constantly from that side on PS5 graphics is disheartening -- the only next gen experiences to be had currently can only be found on PS5. Nowhere else PC included.

It looks a little better than the original, but it's not really a next gen showpiece. On another note, I am getting tired of Sony's formula of mo-capped story bits leading into typical open world fare. I died a little inside when Aloy was crouched in the reeds with her head and shoulders fully exposed and the robo dinosaurs and humans about 5 feet away looked directly at her, but were like "nothing to see here! just another human-shaped reed."

The game is PS4 and PS5 only, no PC version planned. The footage was captured on PS5.

Why did they make this a stream and not a processed 4K video that they could "premiere"!? So they could run a 5 hour waiting room? That stream looked like trash.

The game will look great in the 4K video... but I would never let a YouTube STREAM be the first way someone saw my game. Idiotic decision.

The bottom one was terrible. I thought you were posting it to take the piss. I'll delete my comment. The 4k video is stunning- for anyone who is saying it looks current gen.
4k version did help indeed but the point of PS5 being slowed down py PS4 is obvious ! Expect the PS4 and PS4 Pro versions to look basicly the same but with lesser Resolution and half the framerate (hopefully)

that perty and full of detail in 4k uncompressed , like watching a movie game. n dats just a taster, ohh them undulating waves , whilst battling a dino mammoth, shittt. dat hair and water , world feels fully organic , but a nice overwordly twist and style of colours that pop in hdr, cool.

need to see a storm now in game!!

playstation!

They said this about the first game and that ended up on PC

Its definitely coming out in 2022, they would have a release date by now if it was coming this year.
It is not coming 2022, I still am adamant this will come November 2021, they have said the date is coming very very soon which indicates within next month (after R&C releases)

Some folks need to remember, this is a game in active development. For it to display well and play like it does speaks to the devs skills and hard work.

looks great. congrats to guerrilla artists. i hope in this sequel every random npc in the world has a complex day and night cycle and we can have meaningful conversations with every single one of them and of course i want to be able to sit on every chair. and a complex police/crime system. otherwise 6/10

Man Cyberpunk reception has absolutely fucked you lmao

I thought watching the YouTube stream it was slightly downgraded but the 4K is a whole other deal, detail even like the moss on branches really pops

Looks like it's held up really nicely

After watching ratchet amd clank and hprizon forbiden west, it has just cemented what ive always said. PLAYSTATION STUDIOS make the best looking games in the industry they are just far ahead in art and technicality, the presentation never dissapoints, imagine this game is cross gen and still has this much detail. I cant wrap my head how more detailed they could have made it if it was only designed for ps5 from scratch. Incredible it gave me goose bumps of when i first played turok on n64 my first 3d game as a kid it felt adventurous.

It didn't look "crossgen" to me seems ground up developed on PS5 and they port it to PS4?

Facial animations massively improved.

I'd guess so they can Premiere on Twitch as well

Maybe don't do a live stream next time? Youtube quality looked pretty crappy even at 1080p. Watching the upload is totally different in terms of quality. Just saying, first impressions last.

Looks like the lady from west world if she lived a forest.

I actually didnt like the first game as much as I thought I would. It felt like the best ubisoft game ever made. This trailer made me a day one buyer. They fixed alot of the issues I had from the first one.

Aloy's head shape is all kinds of busted because they designed in huge cheekbones and jawbones and a large forehead so she has a face that's narrower in the forehead and chin and wider at eye level, that's called a diamond face shape.

At least say it looks like THE top tier current gen game, if you're going to be that critical.

Going by that pic, nothing special at all. That's got to be the blurriest sky and worst looking clouds in modern gaming.

On the plus side it has nice contrasting colours in that scene with a Battlefield kind of look where it's dark colours and a streak of orange.

Main complaints that stick out when everything else looks so nice is temporal stability and artifacting from TAA/Upsampling and lower res DoF sampling. Can everyone at Sony please just adopt Insomniac's Temporal Injection?!

It's just a Gameplay mechanic. Realism doesn't always beat Gameplay and this is... a game.

also.. did someone notice that basicly every area that shows actually some details is actually a "room" of some sorts. It is tailored exactly to not stress PS4 to much... Also in Water it looked okay but viewdistance is like 20 meters. And dont tell me it is realistic. You can have very clear sight in water!
Also - if theres actually a distant shot there is always fog or deep hanging clouds. To obscure of course Terrain. Terrain that does not need to show actual foliage detail if covered up like this.

I fucking new it.
It definitely shows it was designed around PS4 limitations. Still looks good I think but nothing game changing. Ratchet and souls are the significantly better looking PS5 games.
