Kevin Smith's Masters of the Universe: Revelation trailer

Politics injected where none was present. Drop the politics.
I really hope this is kid friendly. I know the old He-Man show did PSAs about littering and stuff in the 80s I hope they do more in that vein.

EDIT FOR MOD: Sorry dropping political commentary on identity politics in kids shows.

Looks decent enough. Reminds me of the '02 series. Woulda rather heard some actual score and not that tired Bonnie Tyler song though. =P

I really hope this is kid friendly and not full of some social justice message. I know the old He-Man show did PSAs about littering and stuff in the 80s, lets not make this one have PSAs about Gender identity.

There was one about accepting people different from you. Guess you missed that episode.

I accept all people, especially the different ones. A PSA about people being different is great, a PSA about there being and undefinable amount of genders isn't. It would be like editing old science episodes to remove the parts about Gender and chromosomes.

I grew up in socialist Poland in the 1980s and I remember my father showing me a set of Polaroids on the wall that told the story, you had a machine and you were moving the pictures with a press, the whole story was on a roll like an old film. One of the stories was about He-Man.

Damn that nostalgia train hits hard.

Hopefully it's decent. Castlevania was middling in the end. I can already see some awkward CG animation being used as well here. But I'll reserve judgement.

Kevin Smith as in Mallrats Kevin Smith?

Yep.

I think this looks great, can't wait to check it out. And I don't care if the rumor of He-Man not being in 80% of the episodes is true. Considering the show is called Masters of the Universe, it'll be good to get some characterization from the other characters.
:)

I'm in, also thanks for making me feel old Netflix.
Joker voice for Skeletor will take a moment to get use to, but I'm still in.

Looks like the best thing to have Kevin Smiths name on it since Clerks 2

Where's Sarah Michelle Gellar?? Isn't she in this?!

Holy shit, the Netflix She-Ra die hards are getting so angry about this show on twitter. Like come on, it's just a show.

She plays Teela and word on the street is she's pretty much the main character.

Im super unfamiliar with the IP., and have no idea who Teela is... buuuut

surprised oh no GIF by IMDb

When my love of the View Askewniverse and Buffyverse collide - I am a very happy lad.

Thanks for the info kuno!!!!

I'm shocked they didn't go for some super hard angled flat art style that everyone does reboots in. This looks great 👍

Is that the real synopsis?
Yes, it is:

"The war for Eternia culminates in Masters of the Universe: Revelation, an innovative and action-packed animated series that picks up where the iconic characters left off decades ago. After a cataclysmic battle between He-Man and Skeletor, Eternia is fractured and the Guardians of Grayskull are scattered. And after decades of secrets tore them apart, it's up to Teela to reunite the broken band of heroes, and solve the mystery of the missing Sword of Power in a race against time to restore Eternia and prevent the end of the universe."

Edit: I am pasting the link from IGN but it is embedding the video without the text.

Why am I not surprised. I should have known there was a reason "He-Man" was stripped out of the "Masters of the Universe" title.

Because even if the titular character is male (especially strong male), he is inevitably going to be supplanted by *strong independent woman* in his own show. It's probably the only way this show was able to be green-lit these days after all.

Kevin Smith is a wet noodle. Apparently all that fat he lost was the part the part of him that contained the talent.

I really enjoyed Netflix's She-Ra.

From this trailer, this new show takes another angle and goes toward a more mature tone than the original.
That's fine with me so long as the plot is interesting.

i think that whole trailer is the first episode. big grand battle against skeletor, he man loses but defeats him, then we move to the 40 years later
