OMG. GAME OVER! MICROSOFT IS FINISHEDS!

Did I do this right?

:messenger_winking_tongue:

Hows destiny doing nowadays i remember 1 was huge, then destiny 2 came out and everyone was upset until the expansions fixed alot of complaints. Now you dont hear much about it anymore until now that is. Hopefully sony greenlights a myth sequel.

If that the logic then Vanillaware games shouldn't exist and Dragon Quest game shouldn't release in west because they dont sell that much.

I'm sorry but thats just kill all excitement out of the gaming industry.
Or said vanilla game makes obscene profits which parts of can be allocated to investments into riskier ROI projects (aka what you want).

Its like cars. The sales of VW Tiguans and Golfs pays for the development of GTI and Golf Rs.

Now see Sony fans liking these kinds of buys 🤣 they cultivate studios and games 🤡 only 2 weeks ago I got this as response here ..

Can you speak in human? I don't think every Sony fan likes this buy either.

Proof? I'm a Sony fan and think making the industry more exclusive is dumb.

Capcom brings in fighting games, like Street Fighter plus games lile DMC, Resident Evil and Monster Hunter. Fighting games is something Sony needs.

If they lose those titles to Xbox it will be awful. Way worse than losing Bungie.

Plus Capcom have alot more other IP's than bungie.

If Sony or anyone in fact buys a combined Sega, Square and Capcom they will always have fans buying there consoles regardless what games the other sides have.

THIS X Infinite.

dawg you're high as hell if you think Destiny was the pioneer of GaaS. A success story, sure, but pioneer?
Yeah that guy is on crack if he thinks Gaas was pioneered by bungie? not even close.

This is a good add for Sony, I was thinking how bungie and crytek were the only few remaining FPS studios that remained. I don't count epic as they are growing and want to be independent.

Third party Japanese games is only reason I'm still keeping my Playstation, but barely get excited for first party games anymore.

Sony has always relied on third partys for japanese games. Sure, they had Japan Studio but that was just a tiny amount. I hate what happened to Japan Studio but they haven't made anything groundbraking since SOTC and their output stagnated with each gen. I hope Asobi becomes their big JRPG/Platformer studio.

ok i explained i know what i said. wake me up when they spend more than 5b ....they will buy a pub like square Enix (and they didn't :( ) and they have around 5 to 6b to spend for 3 years ....and that is exactly what they doing accept it. Next year they will not spend 3b again.
1-1.5 and now 5? Damn, that inflation.

According to this xbox is 25% of the D2 playerbase

The reason they payed $3.6 billion is because that is what its worth as a multiplatform game.
Cut off 25% of the player base and it's not worth $3.6 billion anymore.
But it's worse than that because you also generate bad press, piss off the players, potentially reducing the value even more, they would be killing much more than 25% of what it's worth.
That doesn't mean new games won't be exclusive.

I would be interested in seeing some screenshots of people's trophy counts for Destiny and Destiny 2 considering they are now the 'king of FPS' :messenger_tears_of_joy:
I actually wouldnt mind seeing that too. I know poeple say 'everyone' hates COD, but in all my time on here i honestly cant remember anyone saying they love Destiny 2. Plus its staying multiplatform anyway.

All I'm saying if Nintendo can have studio like Monolith Soft that makes exclusive JRPG for them then so can Sony.

I fucking miss being excited for first party Playstation games.

Interview with Jim Ryan and Bungie CEO Pete Parsons

- Future Bungie releases to remain multiplatform as well -

PlayStation interested in Bungie's live-service expertise

- Ryan wants to go "beyond" consoles

- 'Aggressive roadmap with live services'

Someone should tell Ryan that live services only devalue gaming and he should be rising game prices to 100$ instead! ;D

Man, the future is really bright with Sony and MS sucking in other publishers and going multiplatform. I honestly don't see consoles anymore in the next 15-20 years, it'll all be just xCloud/PSNow apps on your TV.

Went kinda downhill, they started removing story that I paid for and the DLC is the price of a full game. I revisited it when the PS5 version came out, got bored.

Gods I hope not.

is a good get just because of the very poor situation of the FPS genre on PlayStation .. at the same time would be useless get for Ms.... that said let's face it here we are not even at Bethesda levels .. leave alone Activision Bliz. I was hoping for a little pub at least
Stop embarrassing yourself further. You lost once, you're gonna lose again. You were wrong. Give up.

And destiny is shit now. Funny how console wars work isn't it?
im pretty sure there was a thread about ms should buy Bungie to make halo

This makes perfect sense, Destiny is still massive, it's going to expand beyond games which Sony are amazing at, confirmed here:

Bungie will also launch a massive new IP by 2025.
Bungie can also collaborate with other PlayStation Studios, like Insomniac Games to make a new Resistance, Guerrilla to make a Killzone with a different flavour.
Deviation and Haven Studios will also likely work with Bungie.

I wouldn't be shocked if Bungie hired existing Activision or Zenimax staff like guys from Bethesda. This makes perfect strategic sense for PlayStation.

Sept 2020. Why would he ever admit to ongoing talks and discussions? It doesn't happen. Jez is pretty well cued in. If he says Bungie gave Microsoft a price to bring them in, I'd say it's likely true. His sourcing has never been bad for the record on Microsoft and Xbox.
these deals take 6 months to a year or more to hash out, if the deal was done 6 months to a year ago MS being in on it before that is pretty in line with that tweet.

Jez can be full of it too.

Q. Bungie has future games in development, will they now become PlayStation exclusives?
No. We want the worlds we are creating to extend to anywhere people play games. We will continue to be self-published, creatively independent, and we will continue to drive one, unified Bungie community.

If this purchase still leads to multiplat games, then the buy out is for the money Destiny brings in with mtx. Not for console exclusive hoarding unless they change their minds which they can always do. Its not like Sony and Bungie are going to say all games going forward are PS only on day one of the announcement.

From the purple board:

Because generously allowing all future releases on all platforms it's going to make Phil Spencer and Bethesda look like complete cunts when they turn around and say "lolz, Elder Scrolls Xbox exclusive, we always look after the loyal fanbase!".

They'll release games on PC. It's not rocket science. The games won't release on Xbox. Keep dreaming, though.

this could mean PS and PC, not Xbox.

I really don't get this purchase, honestly. Self-published in particular makes no sense to me in the context of an acquisition.

I have a feeling that Sony (and Microsoft) realize that the money is in games and not the consoles at this point. It makes zero sense anymore to lock a game behind a console. You certainly want to attract people to your brand but ultimately, I think it makes more sense to own the studios and put your games on as many platforms as possible.

Seeing God of War hit over 1 million sales on Steam for a 3-4 year old game says it all. As long as it's a good port (and it was), people will pay for it and even double dip. Do a 6 month to 1 year exclusive on PS5 and then put it on Xbox and PC for another chance at money. I'd like to see the numbers but surely Sony and Microsoft make more money by putting a game on PS5/Xbox/PC vs. getting someone to buy your console and locking it behind that single console. The money is in the games, not the hardware.

Also on a side note, Jimbo Ryan is just saying whatever he needs to say so that the SEC/FTC doesn't get suspicious and stop this purchase, but man, as soon as it goes through, bam! No more Destiny on Xbox. Ahhh yes, it's all coming together now.
