The lack of info on God of War Ragnarok is concerning

Pre-production for Starfield ended when 76 was released or just shorrly before.
That's what I said yeah, pre-production ended and it was in a playable state in 2018, same year FO76 launched.

Howard in 2018: "We've been talking about it for a decade, we started putting things on paper five, six years ago, and active development was from when we finished Fallout 4"

In other words: Why be concerned about Starfield because of what happened to FO76? Are people thinking the FO76 people jumped in 2018 to ruin Starfield?

I literally linked you to a documentary where they say the Austin studio was put in charge of retrofitting MP into the single player Fallout 4 engine.

But if you're hellbent on believing what you want to, you go girl.

Being responsible for putting MP support into an engine does not make you the lead devs for the game. This isn't hard to grasp

I'm not concerned about Starfield lmao

No, it really isn't lol, it pretty plainly states that BSG MD's role was with the world and lore building. Bethesda Austin did the engine retrofitting/development.

You should watch the doc. They also talk about how having other studios like Austin and Montreal allows BSG Rockville to be able to develop multiple games before going into a long Starfield segment. They couldn't make it clearer without super imposing on bold letters on the screen.

Seems like it. It's not as much as a concern for the game as some folks want Starfield to bomb. Kinda sad TBH.

But anyway, this is a God of War topic, plenty of side-tracking already.

I think GoW will be Sony's big Q4 release.

You should take your own advice because no where in that doc did they state Maryland was only responsible for world and lore building. You just believed anything that reddit post told you

I don't exactly recall Horizon:FW lead up to release date, but it seems like (at least what I am exposed to) companies blow all their advertising cash within 90 days of the release. I know that with the "social media eye of Sauron" being very short lived they are probably executing marketing in a short close window of the release date.

Just like Apple and Samsung. They spend tons of cash marketing a product and then release it within 30 days.

(sorry if this has already been mentioned....but reading 5 pages of Xbox vs PlayStation is tedious)

I know you made a mistake so I fixed it. Glad to see your looking forward to God of War I am as well since the first game was extremely enjoyable for me. Little worried about how Loki is going to act but we have to see if he can escape the bratty teen stereotype.
Nope. We all know GOW2 will be iterative. Starfield will be something new. Can't wait!

Hopefully both of them release this year so that we'll both be occupied at the end of the year!

It sounds like a November release date isn't 100% guaranteed

You're quoting tweets from 2021 when people were speculating a November 2021 release date.

Not that that guarantees the 2022 release 100%, but they have been pretty adamant at dating it for 11/11 in videos as late as last week.

It wasn't concern over quality. It was making fun of people like you who want to make an excuse for 76 by claiming it was an Austin project.
Did I claim that? I thought I said that FO76 was a collaboration between multiple teams, with Austin doing some heavy lifting, and Starfield was taken out of pre-production into a playable state in Maryland while FO76 was finished. Must've been my imagination.

I saw that but I'm basing it on the "nowhere near done" line. I hope it does hit this year for XSX owners

How much info do you need? It's a walk 'em up action game with minimal combat variation and writing that is significantly more woke.

This is patently false.

There was a 10-minute gameplay trailer for God of War during e3 2016... there was a 9-minute e3 trailer for Ghost of Tsushima in 2018.

There has been a significant shift in Sony marketing after the release of Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart and the quality of Sony titles seems to have slipped a little bit starting with Rift Apart. The games aren't nearly as polished or whole as the primary pillars of the PS4 generation. Uncharted 4, Last of Us 2, Spider-Man, God of War, Zero Dawn, Ghost of Tsushima.

The lack of revolution with Zero Dawn and seemingly with Ragnarok is troubling. GOWR will be 2 years from the PS5 launch. It needs to drive things further than Forbidden West has.
Um no. Yes we had those E3 demos but outside that we saw hardly anything else from those games until mere months before launch. I vividly remember the concern over Ghost of Tsushima in March/April 2020 when people were asking what the game even was. All we had seen was a single side mission in that E3 demo at that time. No one knew what the open world was like or anything. God of War was the same way as press didn't get to do previews until February 2018. Yes we haven't gotten a 9 minute playthrough for God of War Ragnarok but we did see a 3 minute trailer that showed a TON of different areas in the game clearly meaning it's about done. The game is coming out this year and you'll see more soon you can count on that.

Also, in regards to your comment about polish you need to keep in mind these games lately were made from home. That has a HUGE bearing on QA testing. Those PS4 games you mentioned weren't made from home. TLOU2 and Ghost were practically wrapped up by the time COVID hit.

You should try and get a PS5 then. I own one and it's a very nice console with some great games.
I had one. I sold it and used the profit to buy an XSX. LOL

I don't have time to have 4 gaming platforms (XSX, PS5, Switch, PC). I got three of four and my backlog is already huge. Game Pass has only made it worse.

Maybe I'll pick up a PS5 at the end of the gen when it's cheap and play any exclusives I missed. Although I did say the same about the PS4 and that never happened (well I bought one to play Bloodborne but sold it after beating it). Good thing the PS5 is bc with the PS4!

Well Sony is bound to have plenty of good games so it won't be a bad idea for you to get one if you can afford it.

yeah i thought the sequel to god of war was going to be a puzzle game. no shit, its familar.
I just think it's more interesting when it's something new, GOW felt so fresh. Doesn't mean I don't think this will deliver too.

They could still mix it up with the map, gameplay, enemy, boss variety. The dog sled could mean it's more open now as well. And it looks like there is a grappling hook mechanic.

Not much now though. Like I said, I might wait until the end of the gen. Gow doesn't really do it for me though. An exclusive from game though...(unlikely to happen, I know)

I think it will release before September. Sony hardly ever release games in the last quarter going by their recent history

Yeah as great as it was there is still alot of room for improvement

As much as I love Elden Ring it looks last gen to me. It's a fantastic game but it isn't close to HFW level of visuals.

Is this Vfxveteran's alt account?

You saying superior art style, 6 games worth of visual variety, painstakingly crafted world with expertly placed points of interest, all this doesn't matter.

All that matters is sharpness and how much foliage you can pack in small area.

I can see it getting delayed to 2023. Those minor bugs on HFW did hurt its rating to some extent + paid shills.
This game has already been 4 years in development.

Call me entitled, but that's way too fucking long on a game which looks like an expansion pack.

So we saw a couple of familiar locales in the last trailer and so automatically the game is DLC or an expansion pack? But yes, four years dev time is too long for it to be an expansion pack so why even make that assumption?

I hope for them that the next showing is gonna be WAY more impressive than the first overview trailer.

If graphic remain the same or just slightly improved, i expect and demand a fuckload of content and a way bigger game.

I always say the same, sorry, but Zelda, God of War and Starfield will be delayed until 2023.

Nintendo recently announced Zelda is delayed until spring of 2023 (there's a thread around here someplace). I think there's still a little hope for GoW making a holiday release - from what we've seen it appears they're reusing assets so they just need to build a new game and tweak some things I figure.
