I disagree actually.
The maps imho simply are not the worst issue here, even if thats fixed, you still have to deal with the whole specialist thing which I think is the most radical change. Having large maps isn't uncommon in BF and those changes I think will be good don't get me wrong, it needs to change ,simply that I do't believe its the biggest underlining issue as watch them fix those maps this year and the game still is recieved poorly, much more needs to be corrected.
Gray area and I don't recall them ever having some date or something. To my understanding, Season Pass stuff is more like WHEN it comes they get it, not that a exact hard date is set or something odd like that.
You'd have to provide something to support that claim as I'm 99% sure, a company like EA is not fucking giving a hard date and selling something based on a date of something promised, 3rd parties like EA, Ubisoft etc never get into weird traps like that legally lol Like...really fucking unlikely. I'd be shocked if any Gold or Ultimate is like "on this date, this will come" or something like that.
So....expansions, DLC etc get delayed all the time, I've yet to see a single lawsuit based on a season pass based on this, the season pass is WHEN the content comes it will be free or something, not that a specific date is "promised"
So I'm going to have to call bullshit on that as it sound rather odd and unlikely they or any major publisher would promise a date by buying Gold or Ultimate for content. they know things get delayed too bud, why would they legally promise such a unrealistic thing based on the nature of software? So I'm not saying its not a shitty thing, simply to take seriously the claim of "false advertising" or a "promise" we need hard facts vs your assumption on what was stated, promised etc.

From the Amazon listing I see for Gold and Ultimate. None of that states when any of that shit is coming and no promise is even made that it would come in some timeline as even saying "Year 1 Pass" isn't even enough legally to argue that a promise of a exact date is being made or something, second, we still have a large amount of months before its even 1 year even if someone wanted to argue that.
Only way I'd see this as really wrong, is if they never gave that content at all, never gave refunds or something like that, but based on DICE's history of support, I'm doubtful you'll not see that content, that might be the only thing more sure about this is that you'll get updates, you get post launch support (if its any good remains to be seen lol)

I honestly want great things for BF as I have spent a ton of hours in some of the earlier games.
They just rubbed me wrong with some of their excuses and getting mad at fan threatening to close down Reddit so they have some work to do to earn back my trust.
I loved BF and its the only reason I keep picking on them in some of these posts because I care.
If I didn't care about the series I wouldn't even be in these threads
And I believe they have 400 fixes in the works just hope that doesn't cause 200 more issues

I think everyone in here loves Battlefield, but let's be realistic. This has been nothing less than a colossal fuck-up by Dice. It's already been half a year since launch and they are yet to fix even the most basic bugs that have plagued gamers since launch. All these things should never have happened with a full retail price AAA product that isn't a fucking early-access.

I truly wonder how development was during the past 3 years since BFV released.
Since voice chat was not included (a staple for MP gaming on consoles for 20 years and PC gaming even longer), I really am curious what was going on at DICE and how it kept getting pushed off to half a year after launch.
For some reason at DICE, voice chat was some ginormous task to implement while your average indie MP game for $5 probably has voice chat.

On the plus side, at least voice chat is now added when the game has 1,800 people playing on Steam (I checked SteamDB now).
Would had been funnier if it was added later when the player count is 0.

I actually disagree with this.
To even add the maps they had worked on, is to even support the old design, so its taking this long cause its being redesigned and I'd rather have no maps and get good maps, then to have them continue to rush out bad design or something. So as much as I want more content, I want good, quality and well designed maps. I also don't now if I'd go as far as to say scamming lol Bad launch, fucked up shit show right now, sure, not to the level of a scam, simply a bad game.
My biggest worry was that EA had no issue giving the design to a person that never actually designed a BF title or any other FPS prior.

On steam from 60k to 1,700 players 3months after release..
Im on PS5 in EU and have a lot of trouble to even find a match at peak times that don't have 50% AI bots inside..

That's what ruined Titanfall 1 for me. I'd run into a crowd of enemies, it would take me a split second to differentiate the real person from the bots, and by that time the real person had killed me 14 times over.
If it wasn't for that one tiny flaw it would have been one of the GOATS for me. Fuck AI bots in PvP games. Fuck em to hell. Why the hell do devs think we want bots in PvP games. And this is coming from a guy that LOVED Warzone in H5 (PvE).

I agree if you can't fill the maps don't make them so big but make them intense! It is just a lame addition and the big maps have done nothing special for the BF2042!

I don't mind it if they are super distinct (aesthetically). But when they look either exactly like or close to a human player, it comes very close to just destroying the game.

I swear to God I used to play warzone on PS4 a year or so ago and then switched to series x when it released ,I play on middle east server and today I revived a guy on 2042 to realize it was my friend from PS4 , instantly texted him on his phone and he said yeh it was him on PS5

So...thats sorta an issue.
I think both sides make sense on this btw, but its why I believe doing both makes the MOST sense vs either or. Half of DICE fix 2042, other half work on a new BF. EVEN with a flop of 2042, them fixing it means you know they'll support a new BF if they just supported a massive flop. The argument that they supported a game with 1000 people playing needs to fucking count for something man, you guys can't just bash them for making a flop and then bash them for supporting a game to the point of even doing so with a install base of 1000, that can very much be used to express that they'll support a new BF if they did something like that.
So how can that promise work if it comes after a broken promise? Fixing 2042 is needed to even market a new BF with such a promise. Trust is needed for that to even be believed, so updating this game and redesigning it is key, if even to just use that notion to show they'll support a new BF just the same.

What ever map they had planned would have been from the past design, not the redesign so I'm 100% ok with it taking this long if it means a actual good map.

No one is fucking saying that such things shouldn't be there since day 1, but fixing the game, updating and even adding back those featurse is still support regardless of how fucking triggered or emotional you are regarding it. I'm simply stating what support means in regards to updates, fixes, patches etc. Nothing about "standards" or justify a game or anything of that sorta as I'd say the very same thing on a game I disliked....the term has nothing to do with solely applying to something you love or something, its simply objectively about patches, updates, adding content etc

My guess is that cause the team is no longer doing a Star Wars game, the other half is free to start working on the next BF title while the current core team is correcting this game with this whole redesign thing. Remember, that team use to be like 2 teams. So with no Star Wars game coming from them, it makes sense to support this for updates if they plan to just tell people they'll support the brand new BF title that comes out.
It would be hard to even do that if they just dropped that redesign on 2042. Imagine.

New BF announced and they promise years of support. How many will believe that considering? So I think they are correct to work on both for the time being, at least to have feedback on what we don't want in the BF IP, I don't want to wait till we get a new BF and they fucked that one up too lol I'd rather voice the changes the series needs as they change 2042 and have that change be in the new game day 1 or something.
