Anyone else finding it hard to get into a game after Elden Ring?

This game has been so GOOD. I am just in awe. The difficulty, the exploration, the music is not so good... but then, again, From Soft music was always bad, till Bloodborne.
I love it!

It has bee 6 weeks and I can't play any other game
Not even a Dark Souls
I'm bored, depressed I can't even engage in anything else
I'm open to opinions on how to tackle this
 
I went and played an 8-10 hour linear shooter from my backlog afterwards as a palette cleanser. I don't suggest anyone try to play any open world games or long RPGs right after ER. Find something fun to hook you in a different way.
 
Not at all. I welcome and appreciated so many games more now and see them as relaxation and vacation from the melancholy of Elden Ring. Gotta recharge my batteries before heading back to the Lands Between.
 
Nah, started Ghostwire right after getting the plat. Thought I would have had such a problem after TLOU2, but fortunately Ghost of Tsushima came.
 
Hahaaa that's exactly why I played cyberpunk next gen and forbidden west just before this.

I'm right now about to start my first Elden Ring play through!

Only the big ones. Played a couple of relaxing small games after, I enjoyed those but I really struggled with Horizon.
 
A little bit, but for a different reason. I spent 140 hours within the 4 weeks that I played Elden Ring. The last time I gamed so much was when I was in school. I usually play 15-20 hours a week so this was pretty hardcore for my standards. Have to cool down a bit and do other stuff :messenger_beaming:
 
More like the opposite. I really liked the game, but I started over with a different build, got three hours in, and just lost all motivation to do everything over again. I know I could just B-line to the main areas, but if I wanted to do that I'd just play a more traditional "condensed" Souls game.

I can't really decide what to play next though. I started playing Sekiro, and then started playing No More Heroes (1 and 2 are on sale on Switch btw). Maybe I'll just alternate between those two while occasionally playing co-op in Elden Ring to help my friends finish the game.
 
I've struggled to find a game to play after every FS game since the original Demons Souls.

I thought this time would be the same. But I haven't played the first Mass Effect since it released on Xbox and I own the remastered trilogy. I am really enjoying it and not missing Elden Ring or struggling for fun. It's really enjoyable playing this game again.
 
What's tough is how easy everything feels after playing ER, went back to Lost Judgment and while it's a great game it feels too forgiving now. You expect to die instantly if you miss a block but you instead lose 10% of your life and are like oh, ok.

It removes a lot of the dread and tension you feel the first time you cross a fog gate and know you're going to get your ass kicked a couple times.
 
I'm still playing the game and don't feel like playing anything else. What Miyazaki has done is unbelievable. I had insanely high expectations and it still managed to blow them away.

I think there's now a life before and after Elden Ring and I'm officially joining the cult of the two fingers but hole
 
No, I stopped playing Elden Ring because it was too difficult for me to have fun with (I may well go back), I've been having a blast playing all kinds of other games since.

I'm really enjoying Death's Door at the moment.

People need to chill with the fervent adulation for Elden Ring, its getting really old. "OMG, it's so good that I don't want to play anything else", bore off….
 
Of course it is, because nothing is as originally challenging at the moment or as conspicuous all-around. It's a weird game, especially from an artistic standpoint, but that's a good thing.

The game is quite a spectacle and the combat forces you to engage and solve each enemy's design flaws. Very fun, but DRAINING as well…

Breaking a sweat to destroy that one boss you couldn't beat time after time is unforgettable.

Yes, first time in my life, I am still going back. It's crazy how I didn't really wanted to play any other FROM game after DS3 (that was fucking hard for me, finished it in a year) and yet. Simply one of the best game ever made and one where the ratings are justified.

215 hr on clock in my case, still stuff to do.
 
No. I spent 165h in Elden Ring and now I am into Cyberpunk. It feels next gen and refreshing. I am loving it.
But I think I wouldn't be able to play a game in the same style as Elden Ring.

I booted up 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim after a 130 hours of Elden Ring and now my mind is getting fucked in an entirely different way.

@OP: I had this after Bloodborne (didn't try Elden Ring yet). Don't worry. It will pass and you will enjoy other stuff again.
 
I cant wait for the DLC (hopefully there is)

But seriously , i think From need to improve the input lag, the awkward hitbox and weapon combo variety.
Some weapons were just reskins.
And there are repeated bosses as well, feels kinda lazy imo.
 
Not sure why.....but I stopped playing the game. I'll get back to it, but right now every time I want to play a game I find myself reaching for something else. Probably burn out. Playing Cyberpunk 2077 currently. Nice change of scenery.
 
I am fiding hard get into Elden ring after Ni Oh.

I know Elden ring is a fantastic game, but is the character response is Just sooooo slow. It fells like playing Ni Oh over the maximum weight. The hit recovery, stun time and start time for every imput its like 0.5 from other games.

After a some hours i have decide tô play mage só i dont get upset with the slow response.
 
Yes, i fel quite overwhelmed by it and mentally checked out. I distance myself from games for a while but was able to turn back thanks to great two games called, uncharted 4 collection.

Siriously, uc4 and lost legacy are the best two games to play and get elden ring out of your system.
 
Nah not really. After such a long game I just took a day or two of rest, then jump straight back into gaming again.

I thought ER was one of the coolest, games ever but it's combat was kinda weak, so I just replayed Dragon's Dogma, a game with amazing combat but kinda weak in almost every other aspect.
 
Yes. I haven't played a single game since I've been playing Elden Ring. And I NEVER am that dedicated to a game. This game is clearly for me the best game ever made this generation. I pray they expand on the Nekropolis world and make a big DLC for the game. I'm about 50% done and I'm already regretting finishing it.
 
not really. i kinda found it hard to move onto another game but after a few days i was fine. elden ring was fun but i'm not ready to go through it all again and honestly don't think i will replay it. i'll wait for the next FS game.
 
Yes, I tried to play Horizon Forbidden West immediately after completing Elden Ring and it fucking sucks. I found it to be dreadfully on rails as well as boring and unimaginative, I immediately started replaying Demon's Souls with a different build. Damnit From... what have you done?!

I absolutely love Elden Ring but it was surprisingly easy to put the game down after I got all the achievements. Whereas with RDR2 and Witcher 3 , I wanted to keep "living" in those worlds for several days after doing everything because I had grown attached to the characters and stories.

I think where ER truly shines is in the initial exploration of the world. The sparse dialogue and limited number of NPCs actually make the world feel more alive and dangerous than if you were just jaunting around from town to town chatting up people and taking on quests. But once the magic of the exploration wears off, there's not as much of a hook to keep going outside of just pushing on to the end of the game.

That said, I think FromSoft managed to sustain the "magic" of Elden Ring's open world for far longer than most developers are capable of doing. In the games I mentioned above, the open worlds got stale much earlier in my playthroughs, but they are carried by their stories.

You already know From Software is miles ahead of the rest of the modern gaming industry - why go hard and finish the game so quickly?
Youre not going to play anything remotely close until From Software's next game - entirely your own fault for rushing.
