Vince Vaugn in Hacksaw Ridge

The logic behind this casting decision... someone please enlighten me

Casting the Wedding Crashers guy in a film about the horrors of war.

Any credibility for your film disappears out the window. What even is the thought process here

Haven't watched the movie but if an actor has the range they can be whatever they want. But at the same time I haven't seen him in any dramas before so I doubt he has the range.

Vince Vaughn is a good actor. Just because he had a string of comedies doesn't mean he can't do a drama.

Tom Hanks was known as the comedy guy before landing a dramatic role.

Comedy actors often make great serious actors. The opposite, not so much.

OP you have no taste. Vince Vaughn has done many different types of roles and has done them well.

He ruined season 2 True Detective for me. I mean, not that I actually watched it. I saw the trailers and he completely turned me off the series.

Though I didn't really mind him in Hacksaw Ridge. It didn't really detract from the experience though I don't remember him really playing a large part.

Hacksaw Ridge was still a great movie. Similar caliber to Saving Private Ryan in my opinion.

I was initially disappointed seeing he was a lead character in TDSeason2 but I liked him. He truly was a good guy (somewhat) at heart although also really persuaded his dream which meant doing lot of bad stuff..

Hacksaw ridge tho.. Oh boy. The Neflix trailer shows a close up of him saying (and I'm paraphrasing) " Buckle up Bobby, we're not in Kansas anymore" and that made me Roll my eyes so hard... Funny how that goes..

he still seems friends with the creator of true detective. few weeks ago they were both together hanging out with friends on vacation

Vince is a strong actor IMO with good range.

Should give a few more of his non comedy roles a shot IMO. Dude is good.

Remember, similar stuff was said about Ledger taking the Joker role.

But he was good in this role.

The barracks scene is hilarious. Native American war cry, Ghoul, Private Idiot. So many good lines.

I like Vince Vaughn. He can pull off serious roles pretty easily. He may not be some people's cup of tea, but I've always found both his comedy and dramatic roles really good.
