We all saw TLoU2 drop off the monthly charts faster than you can shake a stick. There's no way TLoU2 sold better than TLoU, Spiderman, Horizon Zero Dawn, or God of War.
It was literally the game that informed Naughty Dog they were headed for catastrophe continuing on their current path. Congratulations to multiplayer gamers though.

Given that this was a sequel to the first game, who itself sold over 20 million copies and had incredible reviews, and the install base of the PS4 was monstrous by the time this released, I feel that even 10 million sales must still have underperformed. Sony' expectations couldn't have been half of the first game's total sales given Uncharted was posting significantly bigger numbers on a smaller install base.
With that said, anyone floating this as some kind of failure is really reaching. 10 million is a massive achievement for any game, and would easily render TLOUII a very profitable investment for Sony. The folks at Naughty Dog should be proud of releasing a full priced single player only game on one platform and posting these kinds of numbers.

Pretty much everything except the moment to moment gameplay, which was excelent.Enemy encounters become a bit tedious after a while, the games pacing is pretty bad.The overall plot is nonexistant, as most story reliea on carachter drama rather than a mix of carachter drama and development and plot reveals like the first game(even if 80% of the story was about carachter development). I hate novelas, and the game's story was basically a novela in videogame format.
What I also hated was the CONSTANT killing of carachters out of the blue. Got-like killing are fine, but one thing the game didn't understand as to why GOT got so famous doing it is because they only really killed carachters suddenly once every blue moon, and even then, most of the time it fleshed out the carachters first, and let them have an arc, before killing them off. In TLOU 2 all of aby's friends die without you really knowing them.The latino guy whose name I forget now was the best carachter in the game, and they kill him just like that, without any time in the spotlight.And for a friend of Aby, she gets over his death pretty quickly.
But what I hated the most was the SJW/leftist politics thrown(Ellie calling people bigots because shes a lesbian, constant stuff like that thrown in your face to make you feel bad if you think otherwise without any of the nuance this type of topic has) or topics being brought in a game that makes zero sense, like that tribal girl that wants to be treated like a boy(She was raised in an ultra religious group in which doing that is a big no-no; they are in the middle of a fucking war, and she thinks that doing something is a taboo is gonna go well with her people; and even after knowing all that, she stills go back to her house and murders her mother just because she can't accept her, because you know it goes against her beliefs and the island is getting invaded and her people massacred, and the game justifies as self defence. Completely unbelievable to happen given the circunstances, and it feels tackled on just to teach the player a "lesson" about being "accepting"). There are the other things, like the game trying to make me feel bad for the villain by trying to retcon the first game, when in the first game it was already pretty clear nobody was truly evil in the game, or making me fight ellie and almost kill her just because, and so many more.
And that's its biggest problem: The game feels actively like its trying to teach you a lesson, to make you feel bad for thinking differently from what it wants you to think, instead of just telling a great story.
The first game had all those morals and stories it wanted to tell, but it was all in service of the overall plot of the game. In TLOU 2 it feels the opposite, it feels like it is a series of lessons on how to behave in real life, instead of just being a work of fiction that is trying to absorb you in its tale.

Many people include me have re-buy TLOU1 after the remaster on PS4 + all many users went from 360 to PS4-era buying the game...
For TLOUp2, is not bad, is very good even... but I expected "more" for a game like TLOU on title... thanks maybe the shitstorm and other whining stuff... I suppose..

No, I think Naughty Dogs cash cow is going to be multiplayer going forward. Druckman will take 6 years and an insane budget to sell another 10 million copies of some single player game and Sony leadership will encourage him to find another position within the company as it focuses more efforts on GAAS.

According to WIki, LoU 1 sold 8M copies in 14 months across PS3 and PS4 by Aug 2014. Add in another 10 months of sales of sales (including Christmas 2014), and no doubt it cleared 10M by June 2015. It was at 17M by 2018.
And that was across a user base of PS3 and PS4 which at that time was about 100M total sales. And the PS4 game was a remaster, not even a sequel.
LoU 2 sold the past two years when PS4 was around 110-120M. And it's the big splashy sequel.
Although there's no exact stat showing how many LoU 1 copies sold at the two year mark, sales for LoU 2 is good, but not impressive at all. It should be way more than LoU 1. It's not. I wouldnt be surprised if LoU 1 sold more in the same time, but only Sony knows.

I do for the same reason we all are here: Its fun to talk about videogames.
But there are two other reasons I talk about games I don't like:
1) For people to know what they are really getting into when they buy said game.
2) Because I want devs to do better.I love the first TLOU and I wanted the second game to have the same quality as the first.So in the hopes that the third, fourth, fifth, etc. games go back into being quality games, me and the others who feel the same have to speak up so that Sony and Naughty Dog listens.

They're planning to invest what, 15 - 20 percent more into single player games by 2025 right?
Cost of AAA single player games is going to skyrocket in that timeframe.
Sony is coasting on single player while the real focus of growth is on GAAS.

Nah.....I haven't seen people go after any game they didn't like as they have with TLOU 2. Simply put, your opinion is fine, but it is a very loud and vocal minority. Frankly, it seems that minority is hell-bent on outshouting any positive news the game receives. It is bizarre. I've never seen any other game receive the amount of sheer hate that TLOU 2 receives.
They are expanding into multiplayer. Single player isn't going anywhere.

It is indeed loud, but that's because its the majority of gamers that are unhappy with the game.
If it was indeed a minority, the game would have kept it record of being the fastest selling PS game, not falling way behind many if not most of the higher efforts Sony has put out these last few years.
If it was indeed the minority, it wouldn't be common to notice that most of the videos talking about TLOU 2 talks badly about the game.
You guys are living in denial, but the truth is simple: The game was badly received by the fanbase, and casual gamers thought it was at best, a very gourgeous "ok" experience.

I made myself pretty clear as to why I didn't like the game.I probably made the longest post of this thread just about this topic.Go read it again if you already forgot about it.
There is nothing objective about an opinion.I think its shite and that's it, just as you think its the second comming of Jesus and that's it.I'm certainly not in the minority if the responses in this thread and overall responses on youtube is anything to go by.
As for why I think the game underperformed(bit not bombed), me and others have made it pretty clear: Given the graphics, animations and how much marketing the game had, it sold half as much as Spiderman, God Of War 4, etc.A new IP like Ghost of Tsushima, which probably had a fraction of the budget, sold as well as TLOU.Factions, which was supposed to be free with the purchase of TLOU 2, was removed from the game and its probably now a 70 dolar GAAS game, which in my opinion is the best way to cover up the profits that Sony never saw with TLOU 2, given that they know they can sell millions of units of the Factions game, and not cost as much as TLOU 2, as the game will probably reuse a lot of its assets and technologies.
And thats it homie, that's your "facts" and "receipts" about my own opinion on a game lol.
