PlayStation could have had 50 AAA exclusives. They wouldn't have sold any more or fewer PS5s.

Now, if both consoles had unlimited supply, then we would know how Sony having several first-party exclusives in 2022 and Xbox having zero (at least so far this year or currently announced) would have effected console sales. Sadly, that's not the world we live in at the moment, with the chip shortages.

Yes, totally understood and agreed they can't sell more than what's available (i.e. chip shortage). That said having a God of War for holiday could keep some from buying into a competitor eco system if they feel it's better to try and hold out for a PS5.

They bought an entire publisher that is more than just BGS/Starfield, and it's a huge exaggeration to say a delay is them "fucking it all up". Fucking it all up would be rushing Starfield to release and having it be the next CP2077. Delays have happened to all the major platform holders, Starfield's is just made a bigger deal out of because it was expected to be the big holiday Microsoft game this year. God of War Ragnarok and Starfield have had the same amount of official delays as each other, but only the latter is treated as if the sky is falling.

I really believe that if it is delayed until 2023, this is Sony deciding their ideal release window. If they say its because it's not ready, I call bullshit. We would of known about it by now.

I'm fairly sure, these days game dev studios have pre-planned "Announcement date to build hype" as well as a "Announce delay to let people know we're serious about the polish" but release the game relatively unpolished either way.

I'm not talking about GoW specifically here but instead game announcements in general. The "announce date for the sake of gaining hype" marketing strategy is surely starting to get annoying but I'd be fool to think it doesn't work in their favor.

So you totally sidestepped my points or misunderstood them I didn't not say fewer I said none and gambling on the release of a game from a freshly bought studio/publisher is like every gamble bad management.Simply because guess what delays happens.
And yes Ragnarok was a 2021 game and we got the explaination as to why it got delayed...The most important role in the game got injured and sustained several surgeries....

Sony released a lot of games each year so when one is delayed the impact is less important because you have other exclusives that's not hard to understand is it ?

I mean look at this year we've had GT7, Horizon and if it still stand God of war(if we believe the multiple devs) and what has or will release MS this year beside speculation?So far nothing, sre I keep the door open for what will probably a close to the end of the year Forza release but even you gotta admit that is a weak year.

Pretty sure every GoW has come out in March-April? There might be one or two that didn't, but that's Kratos' usual spot.

I was a lot more hopeful for an April release this time last year than I am now...

That would suck if Sony let this slip back so that Last of Us could be the big deal of the year (I'm sure PS gamers have their pennies saved up for both from how long they've been waiting..), but businessmen run their business.

Elden Ring was announced in 2019 and released in 2022. I don't belive those are the same year.

God of War Ragnarok was revealed late 2020 and will likely release in 2022. But, if it gets delayed to 2023, I don't think that's 7 years. I'd have to get my calculator.

Yeah. To be honest, with the TLOU remake coming late september GoW isn't needed at all this year, unless 2023 is already packed they could just as well use GoW to fill out Q1 instead. TLOUp1 looked awesome, people are oddly concerned there, they aren't paying attention to the changes, it's essentially what we got with Demon's Souls, even more actually since they're changing the AI and combat system too.

I am (and maybe that's a subtlety you missed) implicitely talking about that rumor of the 2023 delay,because, and that may be a shock to you, we are in the thread talking about a 2023 delay....
Nowhere have I said that god of war has never been delayed and I have no idea how someone can even think that reading my post...
But I'll keep in mind that, in the future, I'll have to remind eveey few sentences what thread we are in and what's the topic of the discussion.
By the way we are in the rumor ragnarok 2023 delay thread talking about rumor of ragnarok suposedly 2023 delay.... I hope that cleared some confusion for you.
