GOD OF WAR RAGNAROK launches on November 9

Most of the time, the final retail version will look better than what was shown in earlier trailers - It's just how game development works (improvements/changes happen because the game is still in active development).

And even with trailers, they just take slices of gameplay from a stable-ish build from weeks/months earlier (relative to when the trailer was shown).
Yeah I know I just wanna see what it looks like now, cus it does sound from what I've read they've improved that from the initial reveal. Just wanna see like a longer version of gameplay so you can see what ssm's done with the Ps5

With what? Scorn?
Actually the only games that will count for MS for the POTY 2022 are Grounded (coming out of beta), Pentiment and As Dusk Falls. They'll need two more to become eligible.

Notice that they are not the publisher of most of these timed exclusive deals, just like Sony isn't the publisher for FFXVI or FFVII Remake.

Watch Microsoft win publisher of the year again. :messenger_grinning_sweat:
Sony is in a good spot. Gt7, hzd2, gow2 and tlou. Good bounce back from 2021.

Maybe Nintendo can be competitive next year... although I'm excited for splatoon, mario and rabbids and xb3, those won't get a publisher of the year nomination for Nintendo. Sony should get it this year

Okay MasterCornholio MasterCornholio i found one meltdown. But this guy might be one of yours! :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Crossgen, Crossgen, Low Budget Crossgen, Looks like Crossgen and Crossgen.
Yes, we PS5 owners really are winning with all those 70$/80€ crossgen games we are allowed to buy.
Thank god there is so much good multiplatform stuff on PC.

Curious. Did he get a reprieve from the mods? Seems he was recently banned for his typical low tier console war trolling.

I guarantee you the mods unbanned him just because he was a sad console warring troll who tried so desperately to push that the game was going to be delayed and was proven wrong. Would also explain his new title.

And seeing his reactions? Hilarious. Him and the warriors defending him need some serious psychological help, lol.

Trying to minimze your meltdown by identifying ratios of others meltdowns is not a good look.
You having a meltdown too? Didn't exist them at all but the few seem to be coming from the other side...

Looks like you're typing angry. Typos, incoherent posts, the whole nine yards

Awesome news! But man, this announcement and the TLoU Remake should have been part of a big Sony event, why did they stop doing that?

Yeah, it's odd. I didn't ask for my ban to be reconsidered. I was just browsing today because of the gow2 news and saw someone said I was unbanned. I was scratching my head at that one.

I'm curious if we get a big ps show this year now. We know the ps5 lineup through at least January. We might not get that showcase for another 6+ months. Wow

The big Sony Showcase usually happens in September. My guess is its around then that we will see something.

Sadly Sony has been up their own ass since 2016 when they moved HQs for Playstation. That is my guess as to why they have been making retarded moves like the lack of a proper E3 showing.

Yeah i think they did an early showcase around June in 2020 too, the PS5 reveal one if i remember correctly. But i dont remember if they did one last year around this time.

The son turns against the father.
Probably but I think it will be for a good reason...
Unmarked GOW 2018 spoilers, BEWARE!!!
I think the thematics of the reboot is trying to break the curse of sons killing their fathers.
Since there's a high probability of time travel (since jorgunmandr and fenrir are supposed to be loki's descendants). My theory is that in this game Kratos will die (like seen in the mural) and that an older Loki will somehow time travel (or time travel young but way before Kratos came to asgard) and in order to avoid Kratos's death he will be met with a fight from adult Loki.Loki would fight to avoid the death of its father and will probably win but won't kill Kratos and just tell him to leave Asgard.I can see Atreus making the sacrifice of abandoning his father in order to protecting him ending the curse.I can even see a defeated Kratos asking atreus who taughth him how to fight and maybe even referencing his name before leaving.

Edit: I like this theory of mine because it can explain Kratos death, jorgunmandr and Fenrir presence while Loki is still young all that while breaking the curse and keeping a very emotionnal tone about saying goodbye to parents.

the king has returned GIF

.... but to your curiosity I for sure think we're getting a blowout showcase around September to include lengthy GoW Ragnarok gameplay walkthrough and focus on current-gen titles for 2023 and beyond.

Okay I know it's a rare chance, but any thought this may have co-op? The way it's set up (you are not alone) and gives them equal billing on the cover, somewhat telegraphs / alludes to this potential. Maybe this is why they are holding back game play, to drop this bombshell closer to launch? Still I doubt it.

Yeah no kidding, Sony is on fire in 2022.

And I have no idea what MS are doing with their 23 (?) studios, as far as I know they haven't released a single game this year. How is that even possible? Is everyone using UE5 and can't get stuff to work or what's the deal?

Most of their games like Avowed & Hellblade 2 are using UE5 so it will take even longer plus delays plus Pandemic
2020 was a lost year and most of the big games that they announce they just started working on them in 2020-2021

But have you seen their list of 1st party studios? Not the right thread to start detailing their games output but I find it very very odd that since 2020 they've only had like 5 bigger releases; Halo Infinite, Psychonauts 2, Forza Horizon 5, Deathloop. Edit: Well that's actually just 4. Edit 2: Oh yeah Ghostwire too. 5.

Yeah its literally impossible for MS to get that this year. Square Enix or Capcom has a better shot than MS.
Or anyone. They literally have nothing so far. Nothing. By the end of the year they will have Pentiment though, and full release of Grounded. Woohoo 🙄

Literally WHAT DOES IT MATTER! This reason for being mad just because it's cross Gen for the sake of it being cross Gen is one of the dumbest shit I've ever seen.

Look at Horizon Forbidden West? One of the best looking games TO DATE and it was cross gen.

Yay lazy up ressed ports with better textures and performance. That's why I REALLY bought into next gen. Wtf is shit? Gangbang Jim Ryan The Thread?

This is truly fantastic news, and not because I think I'll enjoy the game, but because I know I'll enjoy needling all the GoW fans about this game's limited enemy variety and re-used bosses...just like GoW 2018.

And then cross-referencing the people who jerk themselves silly over this title, but then spent their time and energy complaining about Elden Ring's occasional (and often optional) re-used bosses will be reason numero uno to browse GAF in November. God, it's going to be glorious. Nothing like fanboy blinders and bias to make the Holidays just come alive!

Now the questions are:
  • Just how limited will the enemy variety in Ragnarok be?
    • My initial read is: very limited...maybe a tad more than the paltry offerings 2018 provided, but nothing like Elden Ring, Skyrim, or The Witcher 3.
  • Will the dumb, repetitive, and decidedly shitty troll "boss" fights also be back?
  • Will there be enough cutscene QTE fights to make the manbaby fanbase bark like mad seals?
  • Will Alanah Pearce's powerhouse prose being spoon-fed to them via Sony's patented "walk and talk" narrative delivery be enough to calm the frayed nerves of Elden Ring players who just couldn't understand what was going on? Will it be enough to corral their easily disrupted attention spans, born and bred on Marvel movies and TikTok clips?
Stay tuned!
