GOD OF WAR RAGNAROK launches on November 9

Staring Ed Helms GIF by The Office

I mean Loki did give birth to some of the mythological beings in Norse mythos.

Loki is also a piece of shit person in the myth so it's kinda hard to imagine Atreus being a trickster. They need to do a proper heel turn and sexuality turn to make this good.

I'm not feeling the cover art. I like the color palette being used but just a pic of Kratos and Atreus standing there isn't doing it for me. Could use something more, like Fenrir or Thor, something ominous to represent ragnarok.

I do hope Ragnarok give me better enemy/boss variety, I enjoyed GOW 2018, I even platinum the game but its piss poor enemy/boss variety was my biggest issue with the game.

Same here, agree fully.

And more variety/ability to choose death animations would also be great.

I'm sure SSM will deliver a better game than 2018.

You put all that fucking tat together for these overpriced boxes and yet you still can't be bothered to put a fucking disc of the game in there.......fuck off!

Kratos gonna be exile from norse mythology leaving boi there. He sails all the way to egypt. He wont get to kill Odin.
I think Oden will be there knowing Fenrir is loose, but Kratos won't end him. Maybe Kratos fight Odin and at near death Fenrir come in as a final move to swallow Odin, similar to the Baldur fight in last game, staying at least loosely within the myth.

Thor should go down too, from the poison of world serpent, possibly too after fighting Kratos first but idk that could be boring so maybe not.

After hearing Thor's voice I don't want him to die anyhow, amazing voice, I want more. They could retire old Kratos and start a Thor IP instead, they have the hammer mechanic there already. Not sure old fans would like that though heh

Next year on PC?
No, there is no PC version of this game.

For brand new games, if ported to pc, seem to have a distance of 2 to 10 years after their original PS release.

The ones with half a year/a year distance seems to be for remasters and remakes. Remasters and remakes whose original games were released up to 10 years ago.

I really wanted the Norse series to mirror the Greek series. So, a trilogy with Odin as the final boss of the third game.

But I think I read somewhere that the Norse sequence will NOT be a trilogy?
The norse series was originally going to be a trilogy but after GoW 2018 decided to merge its 2nd & 3rd episodes into a single game, GoWR. Because each game takes many years of development and they want to work in other stuff before retiring.

Btw the greek series also had Ascension and the two PSP games, it has a total of 6 games.

Someone is salty... :messenger_ogre:

It's funny that these same people would be the same ones saying "this is a 2021 game that got delayed to 2023 omg" if that had happened...and NOW they are salty because it's coming out this year after all.

The entire marketing campaign for God of War Ragnarok has been exhausting and not even because of the game itself. Ever since Starfield and Zelda were delayed everything changed. It's incredible.

That person doesn't care about crunch, lmao. As if Bethesda isn't crunching or all major developers right now...where's the tweet about that? Why God of War specifically? WE already knew the game was a 2022 release...why would she "feel like" this release date is unreasonable? Seriously...the hot takes. Glad Cory said something.

edit: I KNEW IT, lmao...she's pressed. This is what she was saying last year:

"Starfield is great..." bla bla bla, "Xbox is going to have a hell of a 2022 and they are absolutely going to smock Sony until Sony gets their act together right now and playstation is kind of a dead man walking"

Imagine being a professional gaming journalist and be so dead wrong about so many things. How could she not predict Gran Turismo 7, Forbidden West, God of War Ragnarok for this year at least?
No wonder she's pissed.

Probably because it hasn't gone gold (PS4/5 discs actually work instead of being unplayable until a patch) but they wanted collectors to have this at launch. So in order to ship the collectors edition they went for the PS4+5 digital codes + steelbook case. Digital codes would be no different to a disc of a game which needs a day one patch to function anyway, which would have been the alternative.

God what a fucking moron.

Yeah no kidding, Sony is on fire in 2022.

And I have no idea what MS are doing with their 23 (?) studios, as far as I know they haven't released a single game this year. How is that even possible? Is everyone using UE5 and can't get stuff to work or what's the deal?
Last year was Microsoft's year. This year is sony's. These things happen. Maybe ms should have delayed some things last year into 2022 to make this year look better. Nah.

After 2020 being Sony's biggest year ever it was bound to happen that the following year would be weaker.

But the thing is...not only 2022 amazing for Sony, next year could still be quite great. Factions, Forkspoken, Final Fantasy XVI, Spider-Man 2, MLB. At least these will happen. There's also at least 1 more GaaS title to be released and i'm sure more unannounced stuff. I wouldn't be surprised if a DLC for Horizon is also released.

Only one system is getting Power Washing Simulator this month.

Well, they already did that with Halo Infinite for 2021 so....

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

There's always 2023 for MS tho.

I love that I can also look forward to PlayStation stuff now as a PC gamer. Crazy how much good shit is coming as we play catch-up over the next few years.
This is what made me add Sony as a possible publisher of the year for 2022:

The PC ports. Not sure how that works but still.

Let's be honest, no one can touch Sony at the moment. They're still reaping rewards from moves they made probably well over a decade ago, putting in place an extremely solid group of first-party studios and really allowing them to take their time making quality single-player games. And extending their ecosystem to PC has only increased their reach and influence.

It will take quite a few years for Xbox's efforts to start bearing even close to the same kind of fruit.

Get ready for some Twitter noise in November! 😎

Loki is the OG pansexual.

but I don't think the games will ever even attempt to cover that aspect of his lore, considering he's still a young boy in this timeline.

This news of the release date just further reminds me I need to get in on the last-entry (and my first ever time playing God of War) a.s.a.p!

Codes are absolutely different. The disc allows the game to play on any system once inserted. Rev 1 is always playable. It might be buggy, but it usually works. Try selling the digital code after you use it. A collector's edition is supposed to be collectable. In 20 years it is likely that a digital PS5 code will not work, but a disc should.

I don't know why I care. I just play games and move on, but this irks me.

I feel like we've seen this same song and dance regarding Xbox games for years now... People talk about the "Sonic Cycle" but what about the "MS Cycle"?

Get over this juvenile console war bait.
This is in the end an eleven month delay. If an MS big IP had such a long delay then the Sony ponies would be trying to make it out as some problem with the entire company/leadership lmao

Halo was delayed for a year and still released incomplete and it's now a wasteland.

Starfield was delayed from this year to next and we don't know when exactly. They state first semester right? So probably at least 6 or 7 months if no further delays happen.

About this delay...we know what happened already. The game had one year delay overall due to a surgery done by the main actor...he probably had that surgery during the game's production
