Mainly used this service for Quake 1, but played all sorts of games over my 33.6 modem back in the mid 90's. It was amazing at the time.

AOE2 on the Microsoft Zone
I'll never forget the names of the two most popular lobbies for AOE2: Uneasy Alliances and Medieval Siege. They'd fill up like crazy in the evenings and weekends and you'd have to spam the Join button hoping someone left so you could get in.

Later, all of the "good" players migrated to the Ladder room, but unless you had a "known" handle, you'd get kicked out of all the lobbies.
 
I maybe alone in this opinion, but modern web design is inferior to what we had in the 00's. I prefer my pages crammed and packed with everything and no need to scroll. Today's web pages are mostly borefests.
