Nah. Fable was in-game, on a XSX. Killzone 2 reveal was done on a workstation and was done before they even saw a PS3 dev kit.

I really hope they come out and prove how dumb some of the takes in here saying it was all CGI and no gameplay. On one hand you have hb2 with crazy good realtime graphics that nobody is saying is CGI anymore. However fable is CGI now?

Fable is running on the new Forzatech 2.0 engine which has been built from the ground up to take advantage of the XSX and DX12U extensions.
That means mesh shaders, Sampler Feedback Streaming and XVA.

Why do you think hud means anything? Anthem was revealed with gameplay, hud, everything and we know how that turned out.

I always thought Forza Horizon 4 was a good indication of how Fable could look, and that was an Xbox One game.

Glad people are enjoying the games graphics and design, UE5 has polluted a lot of the conversation about next-gen graphics being photo-realistic but I personally prefer the stylized graphics with the whacky art and environmental design.

Killzone 2 also ran in a render-engine. So what? I don't even doubt that Fable will not be a fine looking game, but we saw none of the actual game? That fake kz trailer at least had some glimpse of how the gameplay is aimed to look like, this trailer though was certainly cool, but had as much value as some android game trailers showing impressive graphics but nothing of the game. Imo the beginning of the xbox show was rather bad incl the try hard cool denim lady throwing empty buzzwords around, only afterwards the better content started.

That wasn't a horizontal slice; the purpose of those are to be proof-of-concept for how the game plays. Maybe 20seconds of that 2min teaser showed something resembling gameplay, the rest were all cinematics or footage with modified camera angles.

It looks like a regular woman with a disgusted face to me. Why are people obsessed with having beauty queen type main protagonists. That's what turns me off most Japanese developed games especially Square Enix. All the Male/Female with these weird elfphin faces/8 packs. this wasn't a proof of concept to how a gameplays, I left without knowing how the game plays. You could say this was a proof of concept of the concept of the game, the "humor" and the overall fantasy look.

Vertical slices are made for internal use to justify budget and resources, by showing what the team's targets are in a shared concrete form.
Very different things that shouldn't be conflated.
And if you look closely at the Fable trailer you can perfectly appreciate details and reminiscences of ForzaTech.I always thought Forza Horizon 4 was a good indication of how Fable could look, and that was an Xbox One game.
The lighting, color tones, vegetation detail and even texturing is very Forza Horizon. Of course, in different scale and genere.
It is interesting and, personally celebrated, that games are released on proprietary engines and that not everything is UE5.

If two years ago I told you that GG would have created a fake mission/vertical slice to show off HFW months before while Avatar shows off actual gameplay from dozens of different areas on PS5 instead of a vertical slice running on PC, you wouldnt have believed me.
If they are saying its running on XSX I believe them. There were several games like Forza where they specifically stated they were showing PC footage. One game even said its running on PC with XSX settings. If they are being that honest about it, I have no reason to doubt them on this particular game.

I remember everyone doubting sunset overdrive and quantum break when the first little snippets were shown. They released looking great. Most of the time it’s the other way around but I’m sure it’ll look amazing regardless
