Meg 2: The Trench trailer

That's the biggest Meg I've ever seen.

That's the biggest Meg ANYONE'S ever seen.

Wouldn't that shark literally crush his leg with the force it is producing. I know it's a dumb kaiju film, but damnit....that leg would be tore the fuck off.

Not with 80kg of The Stathe™ behind it.

A megalodon in a trench

I Dont Arrested Development GIF

First one made over half a mil at the box office, so it looks like they are making a film people want to see. lol
As i said movie industry is complete crap.
Last good movie i watched was top gun maverick, and maybe avatar

Next good one will probably be oppenheimer

Looks like Dead Island 2 but with a big shark and his octopus pal going crazy at the beach..

Looks stupid fun..a must watch.

The movie would be perfect with Nicolas Cage instead of the main actor..

If you look closely, you'll see the Meg is actually chained in the mouth. The producers of this film thought of everything and their attention to detail is insane.

I like monster movies, but not if they're goofy like this. I would like a movie about a kaiju–sized shark if it was more horror than cheese. The more serious tone of Godzilla 2014 for example is why I think it's vastly superior to its two sequels, which felt more like Marvel movies than anything else.

I would watch this.

There are attempts to do this (check out "The Beast" from.....oh my god 1996! I'm so old.., ok, ok, how about "Monsters" ) but I think the appeal of a "serious" big monster film is limited so for the budget these things have to have to rise above Sharktopus level hokeyness almost guarantees a teen targeting film. I also think that real "adult" genre films are shockingly scarce these days, everything has that over the top schlock CGI allows and MCU snark is everywhere. I'm trying to imagine a modern monster horror film dealing with shit like "The Beast Within" and I'm coming up dry.

Edit: "The Beast Within" is different from "The Beast" (the Peter Benchley octopus film). FAAAAR darker, about a guy that gets tortured and fed corpses until he mutates, he escapes and rapes a woman, years later the offspring transforms, gets revenge on the town that mutated his dad, and eventually rapes a woman as well, perpetuating the cycle. Deeply twisted 80's shit that relied on key moments of practical gore and lots of psychology to sell the horror. Probably full of hammy acting these days but damn, there was a lot of that stuff back in the day.

I wrote an extremely serious alternate Meg screenplay for Elysion.

THE MEG

FADE IN:

EXT. PACIFIC OCEAN - DAY

A serene day on the vast Pacific Ocean. A massive, luxury CRUISE SHIP slices through the gentle waves. Happy TOURISTS sunbathe on the deck.

Suddenly, the ship JOLTS. Tourists SCREAM as they're tossed around like rag dolls. The ship tilts dangerously.

From beneath the azure waves, a massive silhouette emerges. A MEGALODON, the size of a skyscraper, rises from the depths.

INT. CRUISE SHIP - CONTINUOUS

Panic ensues. People scramble for life jackets. The ship starts to sink. Suddenly, a massive JAW clamps down on the side of the ship, ripping it in half.

EXT. PACIFIC OCEAN - CONTINUOUS

The Megalodon disappears beneath the waves, leaving only floating debris and terrified people in its wake.

CUT TO:

EXT. MALIBU BEACH - DAY

JASON STATHAM (50s, muscular, determined) stands on the beach, staring at the horizon. He holds a well-worn JAVELIN.

A young BOY (10, innocent, scared) approaches him.

BOY Did you see it, mister? The giant shark?

Jason doesn't tear his gaze from the sea.

JASON Yeah, I saw it, lad.

The Boy looks at Jason's javelin.

BOY What are you gonna do with that?

JASON What I always do. Fight.

Jason walks towards a waiting JET SKI. He hops on and revs the engine.

CUT TO:

EXT. PACIFIC OCEAN - DAY

Jason races towards the last known location of the Megalodon. He grips the javelin tightly. His expression is grim but focused. He spots a disturbance in the water ahead.

Suddenly, the Megalodon breaches the water's surface, roaring at the sky. Jason doesn't flinch. He charges towards the beast, javelin raised.

The world seems to slow as Jason takes aim and launches the javelin at the Megalodon...

FADE OUT.

FADE IN:

EXT. PACIFIC OCEAN - DAY

Jason's javelin is in mid-flight, on a deadly collision course with the Megalodon. Just before it can strike, the massive shark turns, knocking the javelin away with a powerful swing of its tail.

The force of the impact sends Jason flying from his jetski. He hits the water hard and goes under.

FADE TO BLACK.

SOUND OF A HEARTBEAT.

EXT. PACIFIC OCEAN - NIGHT

Jason's unconscious body floats in the moonlit water. The once tranquil sea is now littered with debris from countless shipwrecks.

FADE TO BLACK.

INT. JASON'S DREAM - NIGHT

Jason dreams of the Megalodon, of the destruction it's wrought. The ocean is filled with blood. He hears the cries of the dying, their pleas for help.

FADE IN:

INT. BEACH HUT - DAY

Jason awakens in a simple beach hut. His wounds bandaged, but his spirit crushed. An ELDERLY WOMAN (70s, kind, world-weary) sits by his side.

ELDERLY WOMAN You've been out for weeks.

JASON The shark...?

ELDERLY WOMAN Continues to terrorize, killing and destroying. Half the world's population is gone. We're living in fear, without a hero.

Jason sits up painfully, processing the horrifying news. His eyes fall on his damaged javelin in the corner.

JASON I have to try again. I can't give up.

The elderly woman looks at him with sadness and admiration.

ELDERLY WOMAN You're brave, but this is a fight you cannot win alone.

Jason looks at her, a new determination in his eyes.

JASON Then I won't be alone.

FADE OUT.

FADE IN:

EXT. BEACH HUT - DAY

Jason stands outside the hut, gazing at the ocean. He's joined by Idris Elba (IDRIS, 50s, charismatic, tough), Charlize Theron (CHARLIZE, 40s, fierce, intelligent), and Donnie Yen (DONNIE, 50s, calm, disciplined).

They all watch the ocean, the enemy lurking somewhere beneath the surface.

JASON We fight together. And we win together.

They all nod. A silent pact made.

INT. BEACH HUT - NIGHT

The team huddles around a makeshift table, planning their assault on the Megalodon. Suddenly, their radar picks up a massive object moving towards the shore.

It's the Megalodon.

EXT. BEACH - NIGHT

The team rushes out, armed and ready. Jason's right-hand man, DWAYNE "THE ROCK" JOHNSON (DWAYNE, 50s, muscular, loyal) stands at the forefront.

Suddenly, a sharp WHISTLE pierces the night. Dwayne turns, just in time to see a harpoon flying towards him. He's hit, falling to the ground.

The team turns in shock. Standing behind them, holding a smoking harpoon gun, is Leonardo DiCaprio (LEONARDO, 50s, charming, treacherous).

LEONARDO Sorry, but the Megalodon has its allies too.

Leonardo jumps into the water, swimming towards the Megalodon. The team watches in shock, their friend lying motionless on the sand.

Jason falls to his knees next to Dwayne, his face filled with regret and sorrow.

JASON I'm sorry, mate. I didn't see it.

Dwayne coughs, struggling for breath.

DWAYNE Don't...don't apologize. Just get that...monster.

With that, Dwayne draws his last breath.

Jason, tears in his eyes, looks towards the ocean. A new rage burns in him. The Megalodon's days are numbered.

FADE OUT.

FADE IN:

EXT. PACIFIC OCEAN - DAY

From a distance, the metallic fin of the Megalodon pierces the ocean surface. It's Leonardo's SHARKFIN ESTATE, an intimidating fortress built into the body of the skyscraper-sized creature.

INT. SHARKFIN ESTATE - DAY

Leonardo lounges, surrounded by runway models, sipping champagne. His eyes glued to a wall of monitors showing his army of undersea creatures.

EXT. BEACH HUT - NIGHT

Back at the base, Jason, Idris, Charlize, and Donnie gather around a holographic map of the Sharkfin Estate.

JASON Leonardo is controlling the Megalodon from this point. We get in, we get him, we gain control.

IDRIS And what about the minions?

CHARLIZE We'll need a distraction.

DONNIE I'll take care of it.

They all nod, understanding the risks.

EXT. PACIFIC OCEAN - DAY

Donnie, in a modified submersible, heads towards the Sharkfin Estate, a horde of mechanized, shark-like drones following him.

INT. SHARKFIN ESTATE - CONTINUOUS

Alerted by the commotion, Leonardo leaves his harem, rushing to the control room.

EXT. PACIFIC OCEAN - DAY

While Donnie distracts the minions, Jason, Idris, and Charlize approach the estate on stealth jet skis.

INT. SHARKFIN ESTATE - CONTINUOUS

Jason and his team infiltrate the estate, fighting off Leonardo's guards. But the battle is fierce, and Idris gets severely wounded.

IDRIS Go! I'll hold them off!

Jason and Charlize press on, leaving Idris to his last stand.

INT. CONTROL ROOM - CONTINUOUS

Jason and Charlize confront Leonardo.

JASON It's over, Leo.

Leonardo smirks, pressing a button on his console.

LEONARDO I don't think so.

Suddenly, the room fills with water, sweeping Charlize and Jason away from Leonardo, towards a dark, maze-like tunnel leading into the Megalodon's body.

FADE OUT.

FADE IN:

INT. MAZE-LIKE TUNNEL - DAY

Jason and Charlize, drenched and gasping, find themselves in the massive, pulsating labyrinth inside the Megalodon's body.

Suddenly, giant robotic tentacles emerge from the walls, snaking towards them. Jason manages to evade, but one captures Charlize, pulling her up and away.

LEONARDO (V.O) Enjoying the tour, Jason?

Jason looks around, searching for the source of the voice.

LEONARDO (V.O) Don't bother looking. I see you. And right now, I control everything.

Charlize struggles in the grip of the tentacles, her face filled with fear.

CHARLIZE Jason, you have to do something!

Jason glances at his powerful javelin, knowing he can't use it without risking Charlize's life.

JASON Let her go, Leo!

LEONARDO (V.O) Oh, I will. If you surrender.

Jason grits his teeth, frustrated and helpless.

Suddenly, he spots a network of wires running along the ceiling, leading to the tentacles.

JASON I won't surrender, Leo. Not now, not ever!

Jason tosses his javelin aside and begins to climb the pulsating walls of the maze. The climb is perilous, but he's determined.

As he reaches the ceiling, he follows the wires to a junction box. He rips it open, revealing a mess of circuitry. He hesitates for a moment, then plunges his hand into the box.

There's a BRIGHT FLASH and a deafening ROAR as the current surges through Jason. He screams in pain but holds on, his willpower overriding the agony.

Suddenly, the tentacles slacken, releasing Charlize. She falls, but Jason, his body smoking, catches her, sliding down the wall and landing safely.

LEONARDO (V.O) Impressive, Jason. But you're not out yet.

The walls of the maze start closing in. Jason, weakened but resolute, looks at Charlize.

JASON We're getting out of here.

FADE OUT.

FADE IN:

INT. MEGALODON INTERIOR - DAY

As Jason and Charlize move further into the megalodon, they stumble upon a makeshift camp where GAL GADOT (GAL, 30s, strong, beautiful) and ANA DE ARMAS (ANA, 30s, resilient, captivating) reside.

GAL We've been discarded here when we turned 25. Leo's sick game.

Charlize winces, her injuries worsening.

ANA Let us help with that.

Gal and Ana treat Charlize's wounds, using supplies they've scavenged from the megalodon's interior.

JASON I need to get back to Leo's control room.

Gal and Ana exchange glances before Ana steps forward.

ANA We can tell you the way. But it's treacherous.

Jason nods, determined.

JASON I can handle treacherous.

As they outline the route, there's a palpable tension. It breaks when Gal steps forward, looking at Jason.

GAL Before you go, there's something we need to do.

A passionate, intense moment ensues between Jason, Gal, and Ana. It's a moment of connection in a world gone mad, a temporary escape from the horrors that await.

When it ends, Jason rises, a new determination in his eyes.

JASON Thank you. I'll make sure Leo pays for what he's done.

Gal and Ana nod, watching as Jason disappears into the darkness of the megalodon's interior.

FADE OUT.

FADE IN:

INT. SHARKFIN ESTATE - HALLWAY - FLASHBACK

Idris, bloodied and bruised, stands alone against a horde of Leonardo's guards. He fights valiantly, his moves precise and lethal.

Suddenly, an explosion sends Idris flying, the blast ripping away his limbs. His screams echo in the hallway as the screen fades to black.

INT. SHARKFIN ESTATE - CONTROL ROOM - DAY

Leonardo, stylishly villainous in his sharkskin suit, lounges in his command chair. A severely wounded IDRIS, now with bionic super limbs replacing his arms and legs, is strapped to a chair.

LEONARDO You know, Idris, I always admired your kickboxing. It's a shame it had to come to this.

Leonardo presses a button and a small, sinister device descends from above, attaching itself to Idris's head. Idris screams, the device burrowing into his skull.

Suddenly, the door to the control room bursts open. Jason steps in, just in time to witness the horrific scene.

JASON Leo!

Leonardo turns, a wide, sadistic smile on his face.

LEONARDO Ah, Jason. Just in time for the show.

With a press of a button, Idris's chair reclines and he stands, his bionic limbs whirring into action.

LEONARDO Meet your new opponent, Jason.

Idris, under mind control, lunges at Jason. Despite his natural prowess, Jason struggles against the bionic strength of his friend.

Jason glances at his javelin, knowing he can't use it against Idris without killing him.

LEONARDO What will you do, Jason? Will you kill your friend to get to me?

Leonardo lifts his glass, sipping champagne as he watches the spectacle unfold, his laughter echoing in the control room.

FADE OUT.

See, the AI can TOTALLY replace human writers :p

All it needs is a mud wrestling scene between Ana and Gal *chef's kiss*
I supplied all the details and ChatGPT did the boring parts ;b

But it only takes a few minutes to produce something coherent when you're doing pair-writing like that!

I'm in. Would be cool if they moved up the date. Movie begs for earlier summer release and extended run at drive ins near beach areas.

Jason Statham's leg is strong as hell, Tommy. Almost as strong as zee Germans.

You're now reading this in Jason Statham's voice.

The Meg Two in theaters this August eh?

I liked the first one. It was a good time. The biggest surprise was seeing Ben Wheatley directing it. I wouldn't have expected the guy who made Kill List and High Rise to do this kind of movie, but he's a great director so I got high hopes for it.

It's been like 20 years, but if I remember correctly the books are straight horror (at least the first 2). I was disappointed the movies didn't share the same tone but I enjoyed the first movie for what it was.
I have not seen these films.

Why is it called a meg
Meg=====>Megalodon

They are starting with the viral promotion already

Good job hiring an aussie for the part, that place must have sharks even inside public swimming pools...

This is like a $40 million StFy original movie. It's incredibly stupid, and the first half dragged, but once they got to Fun Island it was a hoot.

It's a spectacle and a so bad it's good camp fest, don't see it for any other reason. It sucks but it's great.

I ended up only seeing the last hour-ish of it(have a friend that lets me see movies at his theater he works at). I saw turtles, MI7, and then the last hour-ish of this (from them walking on the sea floor to fun island). Honestly, for me, it was bad and not even a funny bad, just bad. The lines weren't that funny and most of the fun action was in the trailers. Hot Asians in bikinis was a plus, though.

It was, ....just there, I'm pretty sure you could split scenes of the first movie around with this and it'd just about make the same amount of sense and not be out of place.

Is there any other kind???

Just got back from the theater. Stupid, nonsensical, and with a HUGE focus on China this time (for the inevitable high box office numbers in CN), but it was more fun than I've had at a movie for a long time. This one focused less on Joan Ass and more on the ensemble, but it was still action packed from the first 30 mins in the entire way to the end. Highly recommend it if you're a fan of cheesey "brain off" action movies of the 90s.

Watched in 4dx 3d last night. We got very, very wet. We knew it would be dumb as shit but went ONLY because it was 4dx, which was fun. The floors were soaked in the Kinepolis theater, they know how to do 4d In Brussels.
The movie was nonsense, not scary, no suspense, betrayed their own philosophy, utter Statham gutter garbage …

Top Bottom
