Nope, you just sync it and it works. Some people complained about the default settings being too bass-focused or something like that, but I used it only for gaming and I didn't feel like I had to mess with the Xbox equalizer.

Some new Starfield videos, not of gameplay but animated shorts have released. Might have been a thread but I didn't see it.







Doesn't really show the game, so nothing to see there. But does give some idea about potential career paths, looks like you can be casino security or some kind of mob enforcer or something like that in the pleasure city.

Batsugun finally released on xbox.

Unfortunately its plagued by input lag. Its still playable - with some ships more than others.
This isnt based on the actual arcade game but the Saturn port and Saturn is still tough to emulate I guess.
Still cool to see this very obscure shmup classic on modern consoles. Never thought id see the day.

Done it a few times and there's been no change, I'm looking at the page and at the bottom it says in fine print that for some people it will start rolling out after a few weeks.

I just got the dashboard update. I am... Disappointed.

There doesn't seem to be a way to customize what shows up anymore? Before, I could add my groups and order them however I wanted. Now, I can add my groups but they are sandwiched between the "recently added to Game Pass" and a dozen other random categories of advertisements. I also can only have two groups added to home now? I used to have 3 and it's really frustrating and arbitrary when they're going to force me to have 16 slots and I can only change 2 of them.

I actually like the recently added to Game Pass section and some of these other groups, but I don't want them to show up before my pins, I should be able to move them. I shouldn't have to scroll through a "Watch & Listen" tab if I don't intend to ever purchase movies or music through the Xbox store.

Please, someone tell me I'm just missing something and that I can make these changes like before. If not, this feels like two steps forward and three steps back.
 
I noticed the lack of groups as well, but on the plus side there are 9 recently played games (instead of 5) and a compact shortcut row on top. It makes it easier to access settings and search for stuff.

I would still love it if the advertisement row on the bottom went to the next page so I could see more of my animated Pentiment wallpaper.
 
I got the new UI almost immediately, but it's not that much of an improvement. I haven't thoroughly checked yet, but I can only find two of my custom groups between all the game pass and other advertisement rows? What is this nonsense. I like the overall feel of it though.

And pro-tip of the day: I just got a 30 buck Kingston SATA SSD in an external enclosure (UASP). SSDs are fucking cheap these days (seriously, if you haven't checked, you can get half a terabyte for less than 30). Honestly even if you can't play Series games from them, if you have at least some backward compatible crud, just get this instead of the ludicrously overpriced native storage.
 
^ I'd have to round up one of those old magnifying kits that used to work with GameGear in order to be able to read anything in game on that screen. :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Upgrade question for 360 S 4GB

Looking to slap a 2.5 drive into this machine and download as much as possible prior to the store closing next year.

Questions:

Max supported drive capacity?
SSD or hybrid work or just rust?
Can 360 play off of external drive or external simply cold storage?

Many thanks for guidance. I'm not generally an Xbox player so wasn't paying attention back in the day. Getting the most current info seems a chore via Google but if you can recommend a site with up to date info that'd be great too.

Your questions got me curious, so I did a bit of internet sleuthing. What I found was:

1. Up to 500GB are usable on any internal drive inside 360.
2. Only compatible models are a small group of Western Digital HDDs. They are listed in linked tutorial below.
3. You need to do a special firmware installation on HDD using Hddhackr 1.40 software after SATA cable connection to PC motherboard.
4. Up to 2TB are supported on any external drive or flash drive with USB 3.0 support. Drive must be formatted to FAT32 standard.
5. Seagate has a promotional partnership with MS for a series of external hard drives.

Preordered both Armored Core VI and Starfield today for XSX.
...and this is coming from someone who hasnt really preordered anything since the N64 days.

Those 2 games alone will give me literal years worth of entertainment id wager.

Gaming has had its ups and downs in recent years - this is a definite bright spot.

I keep remembering the huge number of threads that FTC trials brought , especially Banjo compiled thread where I tried to argue with him under his request but if ored my replies.

My issue is if someone really believed that:

  • Microsoft is trying to bankrupt Sony
  • Microsoft is quitting the console gaming market and heading for mobile only
  • Microsoft is going for mobile, rather going full cloud
  • Microsoft will make CoD exclusive
  • Microsoft and Phil lay the whole time

Then goes around and willingly gives money to Microsoft to play starfield or sub to gamepass, then i don't think you believe any or half of this shit. You are just invested in console wars as anyone else.

If people look like they don't have any consistent principles or rationale, and just want to say the most explosive thing to consistently give them attention, the only thing you can really do is just not give them attention. If you boil down some of the most inflammatory comments on here to absolute most basic psychological impulse, it's usually that the person is saying whatever they possibly can to just get people to reply. My advice is just ignore it. If you feel that burning desire to reply to it, that just means that their post is working as intended and you're probably falling for it.

Anything beyond that is up to staff, and not me.

I'd advise you to ignore these threads if this bothers you. From the title alone you just know exactly what the comments will be anyway. It's not worth your time.

I don't think it's a good idea to bring this here when it's one of the only threads right now that isn't entirely poisoned with console war and Twitter level takes.

Like others said, a couple strategic blocks can remove the most ridiculous threads and takes.
