Man once againI have to point out Japanese Law would make it IMPOSSIBLE for MS to buy Nintendo regardless of how wealthy they are. Nintendo is a protected company, Japan itself would deny the acquisition…

I don't know what this proves. That technology released in 2020 is more advanced than technology released in 2017? All I stated is that haptic feedback in controllers has been around for a long time, Sony simply has the most up to date version of the tech.Please don't put words into my mouth that I never said.
PS5's implementation is superior and produces better results than Nintendo Switch's. One is rumble; the other is haptic feedback. Different techs. Just because one company made both technologies does not mean both are the exact same things.
Even the CEO of Immersion calls it brand-new.

So their entire gen forecast/ambition/goal is less than 59 million? Some were suggesting that they'd hit 90 million this generation.
Also, to sell 29M from 2024 to 2027, they will have to increase their yearly average to >9.7M consoles per year.
In the first 2 years (with 3 holiday seasons + a launch period), they averaged 9.2 million consoles, which has since decreased by -25% YoY to ~7M per year.
They are not hitting those numbers.

I however am glad they did. You know what this means? More devs will actually make use of the feature since both consoles now use it. Just like analog sticks that were thought to be gimmicks in the past. This thing excites me.

I'm happy that MS is adding haptics and gyro, so hopefully a lot more developers will use them.
Quake 2 Remaster had gyro and it was great. I really miss that feature while playing Mass Effect LE.

Yeah I can see the vision that Xbox is going for. Offer great services and diverse, high qualty first person games and offer Xbox's simply as entry level access points for these things. Maybe I'm too focussed on power and graphics quality. The mainstream don't care about this all that much in the end. They want convenience, great games and graphics that look 'good enough' which by and large the Series consoles can do. I guess MS just has to really keep building Gamepass up and offering great 1st party games and getting people in that ecosystem.

Implying "good" haptics was only invented and available once PS5 DualSense became a thing in 2020.
Various versions of immersive haptic feedback, including impulse triggers and HD Rumble have been available on various controllers. PS5 DualSense simply has the most complete package to date.

it just seems like at some point brick and mortar stores would just be shooting themselves in the foot carying this thing and not pushing for the consoles that support physical media. like if both the series s and series x were all digital, it would be a disaster for stores that make money off of game sales.

No, the implication was that the haptics of DualSense isn't in Xbox controllers and that is correct. Pointing to impulse triggers isn't a valid response.

$499 for an all Digital Series X in late 2024 is ridiculous. Should be $399.99 tops. Yes, I realize it has 2TB of storage, but we are talking 4 yrs from original release.

I want all three companies to do well, but with Sony coming out next year with a PS5 Pro and Nintendo with the Switch Successor, this really is a let down for me in terms of what Microsoft has planned.
I'm willing to bet money the PS5 Pro will be $499.99 - $549.99 tops which will make the all Digital Series X with no performance boosts for a $499.99 price point a really hard sell.

I never thought I'd meet another person here who thought the same thing I did about controllers lol. People here talk about games not evolving, but dual joystick controllers have not truly evolved for over 20 years now, and every company is now too scared to take a chance at doing so.
It's crazy that everyone just settled into it.
