[PlayStation] State of play announced for the 31st of January 40 minutes 15+ games

That last State of Play bummed me pretty hard so I might not be there to watch it live. The leaks seem somewhat more enticing so I might keep an eye on it while I'm playing or something.

TGO TGO pls add me to the very back of the hype train.

Is it going to be the rinse repeat, state of play happens those despite fully knowing what to expect say it's bad because they didn't things outside of what was clearly stated in the blog before hand. Anyways I can't wait for another look at Rise of the Ronin being an ardent fan of Nioh series and WoLong. Anything beyond that is a bonus for me, look forward to the event.

Why do people like remasters? I never understand that, wouldnt uou rather a new ot new game? Ok use the pass games as steps, byt dont force us to buy same trash with pretty pixel
I don't think it's that hard to understand the fact that people usually like to have their favorite games look the sharpest (4K) and run as fastest (60fps) as possible, while also taking advantage of the latest hardware features (DualSense and SSD).

Also, no one is forcing you to buy shit, so I don't get that last part of your comment at all.

Agree 100% with all that. I will only add to this by saying- it also brings in new consumers that may have missed the initial release.
Its all winning. If you dont like it, dont buy it.

Can they please announce something new??

Remasters or Remakes?
Both serve a purpose, and I do genuinely find they are better then newer games.
The story, the aesthetic and worlds & even the OST's that was built in those games are far more pleasing and even if you played them before it nice to revisit them looking there best and if it's been long enough you won't remember everything and it feels new.
I would love a Remake or Remaster of Mirror's Edge.
I'd even buy Catalyst as the original release has low resolution and bad performance.
And my biggest games this year are Remakes and Remasters
So yeah..

Then I guess Sony mostly sucked in the PS1 and PS2 era, if that's the case.
Oh, and Patapon, Rain and almost every Ratchet game are also third-party using that logic!
I was mixing ideas in my first post, I meant that on PS1 we had a lot of exclusives, I didn't say "we had a lot of 1st party exclusives", I say that the result was that we had a lot of games exclusively playable on PS consoles. Ridge Racers, FF, Chrono, Xenogears, Tekken, Silent Hill, Crash, Spyro, whether it was 1st or 3rd party.

The difference is that those exclusives weren't "temporary" or at least FOR A VERY LONG TIME if you see how long it took to get Chrono Cross or FF7/8/9 on Switch/Xbox/PC for exemple.

Now temporary exclusives are exclusive for a short time, FFVII Remake it was for about a year, XVI will be same, Death Stranding about the same, and so on. Now that even 1ST PARTIES from Sony comes on PC (quite later though, for now) it is, to me, concerning.

On PS1 or even PS2, being exclusive, even for 3rd party games meant total exclusives, in 95% of the cases. Now being a 3rd party exclusives means the opposite, in 95% of the cases the games will be release on PC (or even on Xbox) in the next 6 months.

This conference is just a reaction of microsofts, or else we wouldnt see any
Playstation has more games for Q1 than Xbox...by far. Their console is outselling Xbox even more than last gen. The fact you guys think Sony gets desperate to show something every time that MS puts out a show is hilarious. Besides what did MS show that was such a big deal? The 1st party Indiana Jones? Sony must be shaking for a game based on an IP that peaked in the 80's.

I don't want to indulge in this discussion anymore, as I have said my piece, and it'd further derail this thread.

People can call what they want to call these games, "2nd party" or something else, but it is just them using different words for it. These are all still first-party games. That's the industry standard term for these games.

Here is another example of it. Microsoft referring Moon Studios internally as a first-party studio because they are working on a first-party game.

As I said, people are free to use the 2nd party term. But it's not accurate. These are all first-party games.
Second party games are also first party games, because first party games are those published by the platform holder.

Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo and many other companies use the 2nd party term for the games that are published by a platform holder (so they are first party) but that have as lead dev team a company not owned by such platform holder.

TGO TGO I would like a seat at the hype train, please! I'm feeling this show will be special and the train will not derail this time like the last showing 🍾🥳

I hope to see some PSVR2 love. Would be awesome to see some big budget exclusive games built from the ground up to take advantage of all that nice tech, especially eye tracking.
