Not really. The best PC VR game came out in 2020 and most VR games are written to be ported to Quest.

Obviously if you want to play like F1 24 or something, you need a powerful PC, but you need a powerful PC anyway.
 
This is all very well, but the VR market is stagnating thanks to a distinct lack of highly polished, full length experiences. But I guess the PSVR2 owners who haven't played Alyx will get the chance to play what is still the best VR game... FOUR years later.

You can hook up the Quest to a PC with a good USB-C cable, or wirelessly. You don't need Meta's cord.

If you have a PSVR2 headset and a decent PC is a no-brainer, but unless you must play GT7 and Horizon Call of the Mountain, I'd still recommend a Quest 3 over this.

Quest ecosystem seems healthy IMO and games like AC Nexus and Asgard Wrath 2 are what you describe. Sony basically released one game and was like, "welp, that didn't work" and abandoned it. Worse than Vita.

I think that if anything this reflects the opposite of that.

It's a desperation move to try to shed their remaining unsold PSVR2 inventory. They won't be making a penny on any software from this move.

They're likely making money on hardware and certainly making money on this adapter.

Way too early to assume that PSVR2 is dead as a result of this. It very well could be, but what's also possible is that more people buy PSVR2 and as a result buy PS5s and with more units sold there very well could be more support.

One the biggest advantages of VR is that you can implement VR modes into games after the fact.

I'm still waiting to see a full on VR enabled Ace Combat and for the price to drop before considering it.

Either way it's a smart move, unfortunate that some of the features won't work at least day 1.

Seriously. For people that actually have VR but never got a web browser, this alone makes your purchase worth it. Even if you don't plan on gaming at all on this thing and have a PS5, can now plug into a cheap PC and google VR videos on PH.

Basically Strange Days but better.

Quest ecosystem is very healthy and I think it's become clear at this point that Meta has successfully carved out their corner of the gaming sphere with their headsets.


Unfortunately console VR and PCVR seems to be all but dead at this point. It pains me to say this because I hate how underpowered the Quest headsets are compared to a nice PC or PS5, but it is what it is.

Name me PC VR games that support HDR, haptics and FOV-rendering on an API level.
 
Ill be getting this.

I have a Q2 but I prefer the image quality of the PSVR (which I already have)

So instead of upgrading to a q3 ill just use this adapter for PC games and keep the q2 for the fitness apps I use from time to time.
 
The entire package is not 60$. If you wanted to play PSVR2 games that's fine, but for 60$ more to play PC games the Quest 3 is pretty much the same price and a better headset to boot.
Better headset? Does it do foveated rendering with eye tracking? ha! A lot of us already have the PSVR2 and a PC. So this is just $60 more to play all the best VR games. PC and PS5.
 
So PlayStation VR2 is now a high-end VR headset that works for both PS5 and Steam VR games? That's a huge selling point for me as a current PC user interested in picking up a PS5 Pro down the line.

No eye tracking means this is a bust for me.

What's the point if it doesn't support the features that come with the headset?
 
Blame SteamVR. It's not an API-wide feature and frankly it properly works in very-very few games.

Well it should be up to Sony to partner with valve and get their headset working properly with SteamVR. That is, if they actually want to sell this thing to the PC audience.

PC VR as a whole is in a strange limbo right now and I guess it's on Valve to push it's own API on it's own platform, not on Sony.

successful? you gotta be kidding me. How much money has Meta dumped into this? its far from a success. They lost SO MUCH money from VR efforts with little return. It doesn't matter if they sold 10 million headsets or w/e

Valve generally relies on collaboration with hardware partners to get new features added to their API.

If the likes of Meta, Pimax (and even Microsoft back when they had WMR) can do it then so can Sony.

At this stage their approach comes across as lazy.
