I'm lucky enough to have a locally owned, independent video game store close by.
I did.Who asked for this?
Thing is a lot of places don't have any retro shops. I live in a suburb close to DC and closest one is line 30 min to an hour away, depending on traffic. It would be a good idea if they didn't sell such crappy used stuff. I'll just stick with my local retro shops.

yeah i have this place in my neighborhood and it rules. owner is cool as hell. they have a crazy selection and decent prices. and they have a big fat dog that walks around and gets petted all day. i should really frequent it more because i think it's such a cool business but i just don't buy much physical media these days.
avatar checks out; You've trained us for decades to know that your used products are in terrible condition
I mean I would hope they realize they they can't just keep selling used games without cases for market price… right? You've trained us for decades to know that your used products are in terrible condition, and now you think you can fool retro gamers who are about 100x more discerning?
By all means, try it.
Fair enough.I did.
Gamestop should have a place to park my car. The Mom and Pop near me is on a busy street with zero parking and long walks past a BBQ place that I just HAVE to stop in and get a Brisket sammich. They are trying to compete with the mom and pop shops. They will sell over priced used games with annoying yellow stickers that don't come off and that are missing game manuals, no thanks
when gamestop did this last time, their prices were actually below ebay for most games, especially rare game, will it be like that this time? we'll seeIt's just gonna be full of overpriced crap preying on nostalgia.
100% agree. I've used shopgoodwill.com for years and even they are more reliable than the dredges that EB (babages/software etc/gamestop/whatever) used to have in their stores. No thanks
Their used stuff now is always in such terrible condition. Also, I imagine that the majority of the things they'll sell will not have cases/boxes/etc., so just loose. Will they actually be testing this stuff thoroughly before selling it? For old cartridge based games, will they be verifying authenticity (there are a lot of fakes on the market now) or swapping out aging CMOS save batteries? Are they going to resurface (i.e. "more quickly degrade") the CD and DVD based games to make them playable?
Honestly, GameStop is the last company I would trust to do any of these things correctly.
I agree. They always give you ridiculously low offers. Unless its new consoles your trading in. For example, I listed an Xbox Series S for sale on Offer Up. Got offers for $120. Went to GameStop and got a trade in offer of $240. Not bad considering i got the Xbox for free as a gift.I stopped going to GameStop when I brought them like 500 dollars worth of video game stuff and they wanted to give me like 15 bucks. I got mostly what I expected to receive by selling online instead. I know they have to make money on the things they buy, but their offers were always so ridiculously low.
