Not sure why suddenly he group up all pokemon games on Switch? Scarlet Violet didn't actually beat Sword and Shield and even those games were shallow as fuck.
Didn't remember doing that for DS or 3DS.

Makes sense, youve got the go adaptations (smart of them to make that while pokemon go was at its peak), two full gens, and the goat legends arceus.

And theres also the gen 4 remakes. But we all make mistakes

Mainline series only?

In that case it should be well over 100M if you also include Pokken Tournament, Pokemon Snap, Mystery Dungeon, Detective Pikachu, etc.

But the mainline series should blast past 100M as well with the release of Pokemon Legends ZA next year.

Nintendo grouped that mainline Pokémon games together on Switch to show the increase sales of franchise in this generation.

They don't usually do that as pokemon mainline games solds pretty well overtime. They never had to do that on the DS or 3DS, and if they did the numbers would be asurd. Its just like they saying Mario games sold X, they don't need that as stating their singular games sellings speak for themselves.

For some reason in their latest presentation they had several slides talking about overall franchise sales on Switch (and they did include Mario).

I guess because this is the final Switch-only investor call.

99 million between 9 games sounded not very good for Pokemon.
So I looked up some sales stats for the series.
Holy shit. With an average of 9.1 million each, the games released in pairs on Switch actually averaged better than most previous gens past Gen 2. And Arceus did around 14 million alone.

Sometimes I wonder what the author of this book thinks about Pokemon sales numbers.

Scarlet/Violet is such a shoddy game and the open world made no sense as you had to progress along the set path to not be overpowered or underpowered.
Yeah, a simple level adjustment option (and other options like disable EP share and fight mode) would be so much better.

Some people understand "fall" as "it died", and sometimes is, sometimes isn't

Pokémon got released and was a fever that everyone was having. It was the new thing and marketing did an excellent job by trowing at every type of thing you can consume, but marketing can do so much before gets boring. Pikachu kinda disappear from food, magazines... even the anime wasn't that much of a deal anymore. This is the fall

...how much of impact this fall caused to the games? Not much. And the fans still buys toys or whatever from the franchise, so they're still doing great overall

Not many games can perform similarly like Pokémon games for yearly release.

Pokémon is basically Nintendo's FIFA and COD for its strength to push above 15 million units sold for each entry.

2018 - Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu = 15m
2019 - Pokémon Sword and Shield = 26m
2021 - Pokémon DP Remake = 15m
2022 - Pokémon legend Arceus = 15m
2022 - Pokémon Scarlet and violet = 26m
2025 - Pokémon legend ZA = ??

It's going to settle at ~120 million units with 6 games. A spectacular performance.

They are counting every pokemon game on the plataform, you are strangelly ignoring that part.
Like me and the other member said, if Nintendo were to do the same for all Mario games on Switch(which would be including Mario Kart as well), I would be willing to say the numbers would put Pokemon to shame.

That was from latest FY report presentation slides to show the growth and sales on Switch to investors even Mario titles got one.

Some of those numbers are nuts, especially with another 5-6 months to sell before the Switch 2 and another Christmas period in that time.

Shame not everyone like Metroid as much as I do.

I was thinking what an amazing attach rate until I realised it's franchise sales and near yearly releases. This would be like saying call of duty or Fifa sold 200-300M on X platform, but listing their franchise sales. Impressive but not as impressive as it sounded initially.

Aside from Arceus, which was, in my opinion, very good, the rest is the same copy-and-pasted, decades-old gameplay.
