We could wake up one day & see an option to play a free game that's not available anywhere else & the only way to play it is from the cloud with ads or a subscription.

PS Portal is a trojan horse to get PS people to switch to digital, because you can switch PS Portal games without physical access to the PS5 only for digital games

They're trying to get people to pay the premium subscription. Sony isn't going to limit a game to an accessory.

They will if it's a test bed for something that they know that the main console players are not acceptable to.

All consoles are a trojan horse to get people into the ecosystem. I believe the Portal is an attempt to keep people there instead of having them stray to Steam Deck or another handheld. It is a reasonably priced option for people that are already in the ecosystem.

Sony put an all digital handheld out way back in 2011, it seemed ahead of times, they gave zipper opportunities to do socom online (fireteam bravo 3) and games like gta and msg performed well on it.

Cloud gaming is too expensive to pay it with ads only. I think it will continue requiring the PS+ or Game Pass Ultimate subscription forever.

And the cloud gaming audience is too small to make a game profitable making it exclusive to it. So no, make sure there won't be cloud gaming exclusive games at least for a while.

The Greatest Game of All

Verse 1:

I believe the PlayStation Portal's is trojan horse,
To cloud gaming's future, setting us free, of course,
With a screen in my hands, it's just a start,
A console on the go, now that's the art.

Pre-Chorus:
I see it's more than just a device,
It's a gateway to the cloud, a new paradise.
We'll play from anywhere, on any screen,
Gaming's future is here, it's all we've dreamed.

Chorus:
The greatest game of all,
Is the one where the console fades away,
The Portal brings it all,
Cloud gaming's here, and here to stay.

Verse 2:
It's not about the console in your home,
It's about the power that's out of sight, unknown.
Through the Portal's lens, we find the truth,
Gaming's limitless, no need for a booth.

Pre-Chorus:
It's not about the gear or the space,
It's the freedom of playing in any place.
No wires, no discs, just the cloud in view,
The PlayStation Portal is making dreams come true.

Chorus:
The greatest game of all,
Is the one that lets you play everywhere,
A gaming world that'll never fall,
Cloud gaming's here with no repair.

Bridge:
Inside the Portal, there's no more wait,
Just endless worlds you can navigate.
It's not a gimmick, it's the start,
Of cloud gaming's revolution at heart.

Chorus:
The greatest game of all,
Is the future where no console's bound,
With the Portal, we stand tall,
In the cloud, we're always gaming, all around.
Outro:
The greatest game of all,
Is the cloud, and it's here to stay.

They could take the Arcade approach ( Pay to Play) or rental

So far all the cloud services expect you to pay full price for the game and then pay full price for the top subscription to access it via the cloud. We are about as far away from free games with ads on the cloud as it gets.

A game you can only play on Portal? Nah. A game *feature* that you can access with a Portal seems more likely. Adding a second player to a game and having one (or both) players needing to be subbed would make sense, or some kind of "host" and "guest" deal for, say, a trivia game or some other asynchronous multiplayer. There'd need to be more Portals out there for that, though.
