I am totally onboard with destroying woke culture, but i found nothing about the reveal to be overtly offensive, by itself. I like the potential theming and look forward to some actual gameplay.. I think folks - myself included - just get turned off seeing the patterns. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, has wet webbed feet.. .then its a woke peice of shit.

Reminds me of how the Saints Row folks kept making remarks to fans who didnt like the direction the series was going.

Im not a huge fan of this companies games anyhow. I wasnt planning on getting this, but IF i had been...id be less inclined at this point.

I'm still pissed Volition let all the efforts of the SR2 PC patch go to waste. IdolNinja was too good for them; he started off as a modder trying to fix SR2 on PC, got hired on at Volition as a dev, he found the long-lost source code for the game, and then spent all of his free time trying to fix it.

When IdolNinja eventually passed from cancer, Volition promised to finish all of his hard work and release the patch in his memory. They never did, then they went bankrupt because of the SR reboot disaster. Fuck Volition.

Why is there not a "shut the fuck up in public" passus in every person's contract?

I'm regularly doing projects with the big automotive players, and if I'd badmouth their potential customers on social media while I'm on the project I'd get my ass grilled instantly, and rightfully so.
 
If I was at ND she'd be on a caution. Whilst I think people are being way OTT since the reveal. She's not helping matters and will instead be hampering sales for the game.

It's still several years away, and it's very likely that with every reveal and showcase, the game gets more hate. So the more she posts shit like this, the more it'll affect ND's bottomline.

It'll be review bombed en masse in player reviews etc, and whilst it'll still be successful I think it could really affect ND's standing as a top developer in our industry.

Zendaya would have been awesome. I don't care that they made her bald I really don't but I can't stand the actress from what I've seen her in (Uncharted movie and "You"). Her whole persona is way too smug for me. Given that it's a ND game, I'm still gonna play it. But damn I hope I can get used to her.
 
I think a key reason why video game people are so weird and pompous on social media is due to the way the companies run.

You got companies where the employees are showered with perks, bring their home issues to work, you see pics of the their desk and it looks like their basement with junk everywhere. So if you work there, what probably happens is the bosses give you this vibe you are the greatest employees on earth. And if it means making the office an extension of your life go ahead. Youre making a game that millions play like they are gods, so you are too for making it. If youre a mental case at home, thats ok. You can be one at work too.

Feel free to go hog wild on social media telling gamers off too, if you see something you dont like. There's no such thing as code of conduct policies here. Just free will to act like this company and job is the wild west. If you want to feel like Billy the Kid, go for it.

Sony's milking of the profits from PS Plus and third party sales is what goes towards supporting these unhinged morons. It's good to see the masks come off, and people becoming more aware, so they can vote with their wallets.

It's crazy. The real life actress has almost no hair to begin with, makes the hair she's got plastered on her head like it's a thin sheet of paper, has huge manly bushy eyebrows she doesn't cut (while constantly cutting her hair on her head), has shown to have even double nose piercings, and can have freaky coloured make up and nails. I guess the only good thing is she's got super smooth skin with zero blemishes (at least those glammed up shots show that).

And given that, they figured out a way to make her worse looking in the game. lol

Well look. Most people look at the trailer and say " they made her uglier " - They shaved her head but shes had one before. So - This actress was in the uncharted movie, this actress was cast into Last of us season 2- . So this person has been attached to naughty dog on some level for YEARS. If you go looking for more "candid" photos of her- you will see that the in-game is actually accurate ... of her without makeup, and flattering airbrushing, editing, lighting etc. Its the "girl you wake up to in the morning without makeup" and it isnt too pretty.... But why they went with her for this game? God only knows.

I have no specific DISLIKE of the character but just like any person who is right, or wrong for a role- I dont claim to know the game wont end up being good regardless.... For ALL I know they could pull a MGS2 on us and turns out you only play as her part of the game or something ... so I wont weigh in other than to say "Hmmm,.. not really what I would have done... " But honestly OTHER than that I thought the game looked good in the trailer and having Trent Reznor on audio (like the QUAKE soundtrack which is still one of my favorite, call me crazy I am a //\\// || \\//\\ Fan) ... I feel like the game has potential-

If its truly RUINED by an actress choice after all that work and all those collaborations- it will be a good lesson... but if it turns out it sells because people IGNORE those flaws it will only encourage issues. Honestly- and someone may want to disagree with me- the biggest up and coming market for game sales is China and choosing someone with some asian features even if shes only like a quarter asian could be one more "executive scrum meeting checkmark" that leaned them toward her.

This game will not only have a butchy character that resembles a prison cellmate, but just wait for the attitude oozing every 2 minutes in fights, quest chats, and more as we saw in that space age MS Teams conference call.

Well, a strategy that they applied until this year which they now try to distance themselves from, because guess what - antagonizing your potential customer base and weaponizing actors and other talent against the audience is actually not a sound business strategy.

Sony and ND should quickly take note, because emulating Disney's strategy is clearly not working, otherwise it will be a hard and costly lesson for them to learn.

There is a theory the new Indy game is getting soft sales (see also under performing) partially because of what Disney did to the franchise and not the quality of the game itself. Tangential to your point but funny to note.
