New Assassin's Creed Shadows Exploration Gameplay

With their backs against the wall and staring longingly into bankruptcy, Ubisoft produced this. There are multiple layers of irony, but the biggest one is just the beauty and peacefulness that comes out of suicide by slop.

Why am I supposed to dislike this game but like, let's say, GTA6?

Looks fine. It's literally more nu-Assassins Creed, which I like. Hopefully the open world activities are more fun than they were in Valhalla. With the Odyssey team making this, I assume there's hope.

This looks like Odyssey and that game was the most boring and soulless shit I've ever played. It made me angry.

Ubisofts sells you a hot chick, but on the inside she's a old and tired woman.

Guess I failed to be sarcastic, lol.

I meant because it looks like a reskin of the older game. By having played them, I already played AC Shadows.

Looks like your regular modern AC game design, you either like it or don't I guess...

I personally cannot play these games anymore, but it's not just ubisoft, it's this type of open world in general.
Showing all the points of interests before you even explored the areas really kills a lot of the interest to me.
It removes a lot of the fun, because it doesn't feel like exploration anymore, and more like just going from tasks to tasks, instead of finding things on your own while exploring a world. The fact that it's also always the same type of activities that are copied and pasted everywhere doesn't help.

Another thing I really hate in the modern ac games is the leveling system.
It's designed in a very strange way that feels kind of... fake? If you're let's say level 10, trying to fight a lvl 13 will be almost impossible, even the most basic ennemy will feel like a huge boss, requiring 10 minutes to kill. But if you lvl up just one level, so now there is only 2 level of difference instead of 3, it's suddenly a LOT easier and faster.
I never understood this, it doesn't make any sense because going from level 10 to 11 really doesn't change much in your stats, but it seems like there are some kind of hidden stats somehow depending on the level difference between you and the ennemy... It makes the whole RPG aspect feel super artificial.

Valhalla was really the worst though, because here I really don't know what was the point of the RPG elements. In the options, you can directly decide how % of damage you deal, if you want to instant kill on stealth assassination, how % of damage you get etc... Wtf is this? It feels like having a built in trainer / cheat system for your game, but that's directly in the options.
Because of this, it's super strange because you don't really know how you're supposed to play the game really, what's the intended way? But it seems like there isn't any intended way, it's a bunch of random things so that "everyone can enjoy the game", but because of that, it's a game for no one, and it feels boring and pointless.

I somehow still enjoyed AC Odyssey, because of the world and how great your character evolution was with all the abilities etc, the DLCs in particular were great, but most of the issues I mentionned about the leveling and open world design were still present.

I imagine most of my complaints will still be present here, and another thing that worries me is that apparently there are a lot of historical / reproduction errors, which is a shame since AC games were usually pretty great for that, so it won't be the same if here it's more like a badly recreated fanfic japan. (I might be wrong about that, it's just some stuff I saw in videos, japanese people talking about the environments, architecture, armors etc...)

At least this video isn't looping. There's improvement.

It honestly looks very cool. I wonder how the combat feels. There's a lot of potential here with the two characters.

Had it not been for the controversy, it would probably have taken a long time for me to play this thing, if ever. Now I'll try it for sure. Will there be a demo?

Because Rockstar has an actual history of delivering the sole movie games that are worth playing in GTA V and RDR 2. Those are not especially world shattering, but they are certainly better than the Snoy walk 'em up or the Ubisoft AI generated brainrot.

I love the sound effects so far, love the weather effects as well like the storm going on and I see we have an answer to have traveling by boat will be.

uh....sure

I'm buying both so lol I love how the game that is copy and paste from decades ago, is also Ai Generated at the same time lol Ok Lionel Richie

Skipping Valhalla was the greatest decision I could have made, cuz the more I see of this game, the more I want it.
Naoe will be mine!!!!

You know what'd be cool? An Assassin's Creed game with the Nemesis system. Maybe use an Isu artifact that revives the player, so enemies can recall killing you.
Anyway, this gameplay looks generic.

I for the love of me never get why this concept never caught on, I thought for sure we would see so many copy cats of that.

Shame. One of the few new concepts that imho should have been put in so many games.

Its a patented system.
Which is why you only see it in WB games.

has it been stated anywhere if we have to play as both characters or can choose one over the other? Been a real long time since I played an AC game, and it did not have dual protagonists.

Can't wait for the 300 "shoot an arrow into a building to unlock the door" puzzles located within the 300 same looking strongholds/forts to kill bandit leaders in.

Looks like the same old same old that I have played numerous times before. If Ghost of Tsushima didn't come out I might of been more interested but the world looks so similar.

I can't find it now, but they did mention most time you can choose which character to play, save some specific missions designed for each specific protagonist.

I got this free with my CPU so I hope it is good. I haven't played AC since Black Flag.
I think you'll be having a good time if you haven't played the last three four games. They are not bad per se, they are just too repetitive. So you probably will find AC Shadow freshing.

It's patented by WB, sadly. No one else can use it.

Yep, I've played the game. It is exactly the same as Origin, Odyssey, and Valhalla's open world activities reskinned in feudal Japan.

I just can't get excited for AC gameplay anymore. Too much copy-paste, too long, too repetitive. I want a Dishonored-like game set in ancient Japan.

Man, this would be a killer for me. Dishonored is my favorite of all time and I dig hard feudal Japan settings.

Back to AC topics, it would much much better if they simply went back to the OG AC games as action adventure instead of half assed RPG.

Controversies aside, I want to like it, but Valhalla was one of the biggest letdowns I've ever played based on expectations vs reality. I have no idea how they made Norse mythos so boring, but they did it. The grind was unreal and I just can't get myself excited to do more of the same re-skinned thing again.

Ubi's games problem never was they were straight shitty games, in fact most of their games are enjoyable, but only for first ten hours, before they all inevitably become the same repetitive slogs.

Not gonna lie. When I get towards the end of an AC game, I'm ready for it to be over. But these games are like my summer action flick. Just brainless fun. So for the most part, I don't mind the repetition. Just enjoying myself.

Right there with you. Valhalla was really really dull. Even by Ubisoft standards.

They also neutered the fuck out Vikings which killed the power fantasy it should have been.

I THINK I remember hearing them say that you can pick who you want to play as however you are forced to play as both, albeit very little.

I believe WB put a copyright on it, similar to how one of those Japanese publishers (Koei maybe?) did with mini games during loading screens. Both went on to let a great idea simply rot.

You can pick who you want to play on the fly for like 99% of the game, even mid mission......there are some specific missions for each character but generally play how you want.
