PSN is down (Update: Back up)

It's ok, they have sold bunches of consoles, everyone loves this downtime

I love this all online, digital only future! I hate ONLY having physical copies of games and NOT needing to go online to play my games like I did pre 360/PS3 days...

Its back up. If you can't play still, make sure you restart the system. If that doesn't work, go to settings and restore a license, cancel it (said 3 hours for me), then play anyway. I can now play my dumb Like a Dragon game.

I just installed PoP The Lost Crown and started playing. My app notified about completing February check in, even though the PS5 shows me as offline.

But a PC is so hard to use! /s
I find PC gaming to be so easy, even a caveman could do it. However let me run down the list of my personal friends who have tried PC gaming. I am not actively telling friends I'll be the PC gamer, you guys please never touch this stuff.

Random stuff I've helped friends with, or tired and just told them to stay away:

- A guy couldn't get his monitor resolution correct. It was always off and he couldn't figure out how to restart and have it stay at 4k.

- A guy couldn't get audio to work on his headphones. He bought 3 pairs and none of them produced audio. I didn't think in Windows 11 it was possible to have this stuff happen but this guy definitely did. He even video chatted with me and we still were stuck. So I think he broke his port like an idiot.

- A guy couldn't figure out what all the tech jargon was in the options menu and thought because he was on PC, graphics could always be at the max. Cyberpunk didn't run well. He sold the PC.

- A guy I know that works in IT couldn't get a game working during a co-op session. It would crash on him and he'd close the error message without ever reading it. I told him to read the freaking message to me and I'll figure it out. He kept forgetting. So he bought new hardware (RAM) to fix it. It didn't work, total shock.

- A guy who plays really basic games felt his computer was sluggish for them. They were running fine, but he felt because his hardware is old that he needed new hardware to run them better.

- A guy didn't know how to disable Steam pop ups and auto start so he stopped using PC. Began saying Steam acts like a virus.

- A 2nd guy did the same thing with Steam.

- A guy upgraded his CPU to the newest Zen series and was disappointed his game didn't benchmark the way they showed it. He never upgrade his 10 year old video card.

That's just a few examples in the past couple of years. I only know one guy in real life that actually knows how to use a PC legitimately.

I'm assuming they're testing the servers maybe and that's why some people are getting in and some aren't? It'd help if there was idk some form of COMMUNICATION!!!!

Still nothing.

Great design. Lets release a hardware that relies upon not just the internet, but also PSN. So even if you have power and your home wifi working, you cant access it.

I have no idea why they couldnt have just used the Wii U tech. Have wifi as a backup for farther distances and just let me connect to the goddamn PS5 directly.

MH beta still down.
Yeah, really wanted to put some more time in it before its taken down. Even with hundreds of hours in Monster Hunter World, staying a few years without playing a MH game and now feels like i need to relearn how to play my main weapon all over again.

Wii U was designed with connection to the Gamepad (you know, THE controller of the system) in mind, PS5 was not.

And people stil lwant o move away from physical lmao

You can still play your digital library when PSN is down, unless your account sharing 🤷‍♂️

I do prefer physical over digital, but it's abit overblown when it's only an issue with account sharing really.

Not asif having the disc would let you play any always online games either.

The app tabs are showing everything, that's an improvement. Friends are also showing online, neither if these worked last night.

aside from people that don't have their PS5 set as primary, what difference does that really make in this situation? MP games would still not work

You're thinking short term. Today that's the issue. When they eventually say servers cost too much to leave activation severs up, then physical will still work.
