I'm not saying I love or hate Avowed. But other than it just being more colorful than the usual fantasy rpg, there is nothing in similar vibe.

Believe or argue what you want. But I think you are either being disingenuous or are a moron.

The amount of fanboyish here is not healthy and some people might have real problems in personal life to dedicate so much energy on hating this or any other game. It is worrying...

The energy spent trying to pile on a game you have never had any interest in playing is absolutely outstanding!

I doff my cap at the dedication shown, soldiers!

Was referring to the same vibe as Concord.

Wasn't saying it isn't a failure.

No, you were talking about flops and you said Indy "isn't" one.

This is objectively incorrect.

Yeah quite crazy to me, fanboys are attacking HeisenbergFX4 HeisenbergFX4 , guy was the loudest advocate for PS5 Pro, isn't this friendly fire?

You need to be friends for 'friendly fire'.

For some weird reason people always seem to think that the PS fanbase on Gaf is one single front that's always on the same page.

For the record, I am in no way attacking Heisenberg.

Yep. And now retroactively, I guess Pillars of Eternity and the sequel are "in the same corner as Concord", too. I mean, look at all these Concord vibes.

nah! you said
"the character design is nowhere even close man."
and people shoved twin sister receipts to your nose. that's what happened

Then you misinterpreted my post.

I was saying Avowed is in the same corner as Concord. Both have the same Woke vibe and shit character designs and are/were barebones games, although each in their own regard.

Indy is a failure as well, but it doesn't seem to suffer from the above, it's just mediocre-looking in every way and failed because of it.

That wasn't clear in your post, but if you say that's what you meant then fair enough.

Nahh I don't mind disagreeing with someone as I just wanted clarification on how you came about your conclusion

I took your post totally differently as well if I am being honest, fair enough

Can you provide some more that isn't the same image people keep posting? One character? That's of a certain race, of which fur is common?

That "twin sister receipts" is being overly played. You've got two females with similar colored hair. That's about all there is. I'm playing the hell out of Avowed and there is no Concord "vibe" here.

I have played some Avowed but don't get that comparison either but then again I didn't buy and play Concord

POE I had way more muted colors than POE II. POE II was based in an archipelago.

Still two of my all time favorite games.
Yeah, it definitely did have much more muted colors - but there were certainly colorful scenes in Pillars. I prefer Pillars to Pillars 2, personally. But point being is that Avowed really isn't on some special crusade - people just have no knowledge of the source material and make themselves look like buffoons, IMO.

Hmm, I kinda agree with the shit character design part (though I haven't seen anything about this game recently). Last time I saw it I thought the characters didn't fit in with the world and most look shit, especially the green (blue?) fish guy.
Indiana flopped, which is a shame because it's meant to be good. Good games deserve sales. Shit movie didn't help at all.

If you don't think they fit the world, you haven't played the previous games. That's fine if you feel that way, but that race and the world were designed together.

Pillars I is my favorite as well.

I'm still leery about buying Avowed. Maybe when it's $30-40. It just doesn't look worth anything near $70.

Avowed is taking place in the Living Lands, a place in the universe from 2015 since the first game. It's in the intro map.
The naming is suggestive regarding the island color palette.

Not saying everybody needs to be on the same page, but coming to Avowed thread relating it's Concord level failure is just absurd.

Yes, I was dunking on Avowed day one since the Matrix Hansen thread, I am probably a bigger PS fan than many here, but I think it's absurd.

I already explained what I meant by that.

Hey.....how about an on topic post...

Seems the game is leveling out sub 19k. Not a great showing. I imagine the price will get cut sooner, rather than later.

I downloaded Avowed, was gonna play and then saw my man Kacho Kacho was playing pirate Majima. Didn't know what I was thinking but somehow I caved in and bought the Yakuza game instead.

And obviously this had a more profound consequence than I could fathom:

I haven't played the previous games. Graphically they fit? I don't know, I think it was last year during the Xbox show, I thought they seemed off. Haven't really paid much attention to it since then (or maybe I was drunk at the time).

These are very similar numbers. Tho those numbers are prob fine for pirates to be successful. They make somewhat niche game and they make them very efficiently and cheaply. If anything this shows the issue is western companies keep continually making niche games for niche demographics that only have appeal in certain circles, but keep spending massive budgets on them, that its actual audience size cannot meet. There is an audience for something like avowed, or dragon age veilguard. It's just small. If that's the sort of game a dev wants to make, that's fine, just spend accordingly, otherwise you are literally setting your companies or investors money on fire and it's tantamount to gross incompetence, which I guess is quite often quite rightly rewarded with being fired. That doesn't undo the damage to the company tho, or the corresponding IP.

Absolutely agree on efficiency and sustainability about Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. But I don't think Avowed is exactly the same situation as Veilguard. I haven't played yet, but it seems the game is nowhere near as preachy as Veilguard.

Other than the pronoun controversy, Avowed probably isn't a ideology driven game, just a 7 - 8 out of 10 game that is perfectly suited for game pass. Unlike Bioware, I think Obsidian will survive this.

I mean, it's arguable. It's akin to asking if Hobbits "fit" in LotR. Or the orc creatures. It's a high fantasy setting that they conjured from thin air, so really it's up to the player to decide, but it's not something they cooked up for Avowed. There were plenty of Aumaua in the first game, there are even two that can be in your party, though only one is a "blue" coastal like Kai.

But if you're asking if they fit into the world as I understand it from the first two games - yeah, nothing seems unusual here. It looks especially great aesthetically by that metric, IMO, as a Pillars fan. Particularly the environments. What doesn't look great are some of the regular humanoid character models - animations, face, etc aren't perfect. But, eh, I don't really care personally. A lot of the things people are on about, I just don't care (slashing at a random cup on a table doesn't move it.. ok, most games do NOT have physics down to the cups like Elder Scrolls, it's just a fact, etc).

However, if someone hadn't played the first two games and just looked at screenshots from this game, I could easily see how they might jump on the "omg woke design!!1" train, but it's an erroneous conclusion to draw, IMO.

Its very ideology driven, tons of feminists/women in the dev team, check avoved review thread-we showed plenty examples of game being woke/feminist/anti-men.

Its not as blatant as da:v or concord, marketing team was much smarter this time coz they were afraid of terrible sales(hence lastminute option to diseable pronouns even), still playerbase isnt as easy to trick into buying woke shit nowadays, as we see by extremly low ccu on steam, and undoubtfully 0 sales numbers announcements and future very low placement or no placement in sales charts over the world :)

Devs know already that game flopped, hence making dmg control interviews/articles about them being fine with game only being "mild success" :D

U made thread about it, so u should know best, bro.
