Fable: Pre-Alpha Gameplay

I think in the trailer before the last one she looks pretty honestly. There's a shot where she smiles and it's up close. Fable is supposed to be kind of a backwater, rural, farting in the pub origin story kicking chickens. She's not really supposed to look like a supermodel. Just looks normal without makeup or something. But tons of people will disagree and probably flip out, so that's their call.
I do remember this as well. She's like the girl next door kinda tomboy who hadn't discovered makeup. I honestly think if written right, she could be an endearing character.

Gameplay doesn't look too bad. Has character creator been confirmed? Yes, I played older Fable games but that doesn't mean the feature is in this one.

Separately, this game is going to run over $200mil US for development and marketing. I hope for this team's sake its heading to PS5 and maybe Switch 2 Day 1.

Yup I have zero issues with the character design

Dunno why certain people are obsessed with playing as super models

Same BS about Aloy that I also don't get

I would imagine an Eve-esque looking character would make it more difficult to pull off that same humor.

I don't get why some people only can think in extremes. Yeah she doesn't need to look like Eve, lmao.

She doesn't need to look like a swamp goblin either.

Graphics look great, but the combat/animations need a lot of work. But this is pre-alpha, so lets see how it develops.

The design of the protagonist is a parody of today's gaming landscape intentionally. Fable is a Comedy. and also has comedians tied to it. Also, don't your actions make the character what they look like?

This game looks amazing.
I think a more effective (and funny) way to parody modern western games is to have the MC be STUNNINGLY beautiful, but all in game characters react like she is a hag.

You can have the cake and eat it too if you just think about it.

I dislike that she is blocking wild swings from a monster werewolf with just her sword and they click off it. Thats like 90's era fantasy combat animations, I was hoping for much more.

I don't think she looks that bad. But I think it's impossible to really please everyone. Even if she was a Boston 8 people would find a way to complain. The game's not out yet so I don't wanna jump to conclusions, but I think her character is fitting, as I've mentioned earlier in the thread.

Mate she's comically disfigured. Nobody batted an eye over the Returnal chick.

And inb4 her design is going for laughs. Anyone who'd actually believe that is delusional.

Looks great and fake at the same time. Combat looks jank based on that little footage aswell.

lol yeah. i don't align with weirdo chud-obsession with the looks of pixel women %99 of the time,
but this actually looks like a real effort to make something unattractive.

My god that main character design is atrocious.
The wolf monster looks cool, but no way want me believe that skinny ugly thing can deflect its attacks. The combat feels way clanky, no wonder this got delayed.

I know there'll be a character creator, but that doesn't change my opinion that marketing the game with that main character design is a bad idea.

Combat looks horrible, are there no spells etc in this?

We dont have to play as this abomination right?

Also where are the funny bits?

We've seen a small fireball thrown like a baseball, and a wind ground spell that launches enemies in the air for projectile attacks. We've seen a long sword and a bow.

A skinny pretty thing could deflect those attacks though? I get the pushback against some of this in the industry but some of the complaints are just over the top.

Looks absolutely marvelous. I love everything about the graphics. The fidelity, the art direction, the amazing atmosphere and volumetric effects.

Absolutely gorgeous.
Agreed! Only thing that's a bit rough are the animations during gameplay, which may still see some revisions. Otherwise it looks like a proper current gen game, or how we expected current gen to look like.

Also this is probably Microsoft's best-looking game in the pipeline in terms of actual gameplay, fidelity and scope...aside from DOOM Dark Ages. I guess that isn't too surprising tho considering Playground are the devs.

Delays didn't work out well for Halo Infinite, Starfield, RedFall, Forza Motorsport or Avowed (well, that one more so because it launched same time as KC2 Deliverance)...maybe Fable will finally break the curse?

Like almost every other fantasy games where you can block? Odd thing to nitpick.

She would be still skinny, ugly was just a remark of how ugly is her in game model. I'm honestly not surprised people could take at least take 2 seconds to raciocinate before typing, tiktok does that with people.

It's a game thing, I get it, but VISUALLY it looks weird, especially coming from such a slight warrior maiden. Plenty of games today would have that beast throwing "unblockable" attacks that you would have to dodge instead, or at least change the animation so she recoils a bit or is staggered. As the visual quality of games improves, details like this stand out more and more to me. While playing I doubt it matters, but as a video clip it's just something I noticed and wished game devs would spend some time on, rather than adding another 50 different tree types or 30 more bits of graphiti around the towns, for example.

The footage looks good

Like there's some ironing out needed for the animations etc, but things like the global illumination etc look gorgeous already.

I'm trying to remember what Fable characters looked like back in the day...or maybe even the cancelled Fable Legends game. I remember being reminded of Pixar films with that one.

I don't necessarily think the MC needs to be drop dead gorgeous given the setting. As long as her story is relatable, I'm ok with this. Fable had a lot of humor. I would imagine an Eve-esque looking character would make it more difficult to pull off that same humor.

One thing that is weird is that there's no choice to play as a male though. That was always an option before, iirc.
If it was faithful to Fable it would have had a different art style and the weirdness would come from the character's proportions. The female version of the MC in Fable never looked ugly.

Here it's just a normal woman that doesn't look good and make weird expressions, it's kind of lame.

Who cares if main character is ugly AF? She might be super funny and charming in other ways, i'm more than willing to give it a chance. As long as overall game is fun and interesting.

I've wishlisted, hopefully there are no racist art directors working on this one. :messenger_tongue:

Also, for the fans. Which Fable games are worth playing the most? Except 1, I've already played that one.
I tried the sequel but i stopped when i realized that it was impossible to die, way to much of a cakewalk.

Never tried 3, i heard it's kinda terrible.
