Blades of Fire - Official Announcement Trailer (MecurySteam)

So many particles

Who started that whole particle effect craze anyway? I first noticed it being heavily used in God of War 2018, and now it's everywhere.

Trailer reminded me Castlevania LoS 2 trailer at some points.
Looks nice but not 70€ nice.
I hope it does well for MercurySteam.

Game has big fucking swords, dismemberment and tits. What else could you need?

Too bad it's an EGS exclusive. Why the fuck did they have to take Tim's money?

Could be cool but based on the gameplay snippets it needs severe optimizing.

I think I saw a Game of Thrones reference there.

Yeah man, new IPs sure always bomb on Steam, like Elden Ring or Wukong .

The fuck are you talking about man?
It's just a straight forward answer. They know Steam exists. They're calculating that everyone will ignore this game and they're better off getting a safer payday. I can't say I blame them. Eternal Strands just bombed on Steam and it was only $40. We don't know the price of this one yet. A whole lot of new IP bomb or don't get noticed at all. They are rolling the dice on a more conservative / safe choice on this one. It's probably up to the publisher.

it's just literally modern Blade of Darkness from same devs. Also 4 characters

Thanks for the actual answer man, you got me by surprise with the previous one.

Eternal Strands looks kinda shit tho, I'd bet this game would do much better. And many new IPs are succesful even if they are niche, just look at indie hits like Lethal Company or Manor Lords.

And honeslty I wouldn't call going the EGS exclusive route the safest one. Sure they've secured some money, but they might be losing more in the long run.

It's definitely a gamble. All exclusive deals are. I'm in favor of it being everywhere, but I can only guess they wanted something more secure for some reason. If I had to guess, they may have signed this a while ago. Exclusive deals seem to be falling out of favor lately.

505 made the same deal for Control and it worked out for the best.

I know it doesn't look anything like that but i get slight lords of the fallen 1 mixed with gow 2018 vibes...

Not a fan of the art direction, and the camera seems waaay too close.
Other than that though it looks fun, I like the focus on dismemberment.

I like what I am seeing. Plus the price is really cheap so cant go wrong.

I seriously need to switch to PC asap.
It's the equivalent of $24 on the Epic games store.....it's going to be $50 on ps5

Hopefully.

I was hoping for a Lords of Shadow spiritual successor.
