For me, Binding of Isaac and Enter The Gungeon are at the top , great games that I have put many hours on and am still not tired of playing them.

Into the Breach and Hades are the two best. Really enjoyed Balatro too, if that counts.

I'm having a great time with Star of Providence right now.

A small indie title I never see mentioned but I'll recommend is Dandy Ace.

It's not as rich in content as others, but the game is fun as hell when you get going and has a cool style.

Shout out to Monster Train, Slay the Spire, and Inscryption

FTL
Enter the Gungeon
Spelunky 2
Hades
Into the Breach
Balatro
Shotgun King (chess, highly underrated)
Noita
Nuclear Throne
Slay the Spire
Dome Keeper (adjacent to Roguelite, awesome)
Nova Drift
Unrailed
Boneraiser Minions
In Death (VR)
Returnal
Risk of Rain Returns

One of my favorite obsessions this year. Demo has dozens of hours content. Full release should be amazing. Demo progress carries over.

I love this game. Twin stick shooter with tons of awesome weapons and satisfying progression. And there are lots of things to do besides just survive.

Slay the Spire is the way to go if you like turn-based. Otherwise, Hades is good. I also played Ember Knights which was enjoyable but I usually get tired of action games rather quickly.

Binding of Issac
Slay the Spire
Enter the Gungeon
Spelunky 1 and 2
Monster Train

I still play most of these daily because they include daily runs. Enter the Gungeon coulda been the GoaT if they had a scoring system and dailies.

Dead Cells, Returnal, Risk of Rain 1 and 2, and more listed in this thread.

Funny that my obsession with the genre began with Sony putting Binding of Isaac Rebirth as a free psn title.
I downloaded it, played it, was like "This is dumb."
But then I made another run. And another, and another and another…..

Honestly, people need to play Dream Quest on iOS and PC. It looks basic as hell, but once you're sucked in, you'll be trapped for life.

Blazing Beaks is pretty similar to Enter the Dungeon, but there's a twist where you can debuff yourself by picking up certain items with a red aura. Deliver them to stage end and you receive extra rewards. It's pretty hard and you always get too greedy, haul too much red stuff and get killed.

Noita is a physics based roguelike with liquid and gas simulation where you find spells and "program" wands with them to create OP weapons. Sounds weird, because it is and it's super hard. I put in 441h in Noita, no ragrets!

Claw machine based roguelike. Items you pick up will heal you or damage your enemies. It's pretty easy and chill to play.

As someone who never plays card games, slay the spire was amazing.

Hades was great, but I was done with it quite quickly after finishing one run.

Balatro was pretty good, but I liked slay the spire a lot more.

Dead cells feels well made, is very fluid en the music is great, but still did not feel like continuing to play. Never really likes metrovania.

Lot of vampire survivor clones, good for a few hours. Did not really like brotato, I think the graphics throw me off.

It was risk of rain 2, then hopoo sold the ip to Gearbox and fucked off to Valve. There was an update that broke the game with the newest dlc. I dont know if it's fixed or not.

Enter the Gungeon, Inscryption, and Hades are really good.

There's been a bunch in the last several years.

Rogue Legacy
Returnal
Hades
The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered - No Return Mode
Dead Cells
Streets of Rage 4 - Mr. X's Nightmare mode

Dishonorable Mention: Mortal Shell - Virtuous Cycle mode, due to all the aborted runs due to animation glitches that prevented me from attacking or dodging or blocking or the fact that enemies that used to load in just fine in the original version, even in the main game, that now load in very late since the update, so they're completely invisible until they're eating your face.

The Side Order DLC for Splatoon 3 is actually a top-notch roguelike. I rate it higher than Returnal.
Story is complete nonsense unless you played the previous games (Splatoon 2's Octo Expansion DLC in particular), because there's surprising amounts of lore in the series. But it's very intricately designed mechanically.
Never imagined Nintendo would knock it out of the park like this.

Ravenswatch at the moment. Put in about 90 hours now in total in both co-op and solo. Closely followed by the usual suspects like Hades, Risk of Rain, Slay the Spire, etc.

Special mention has to go to Battle Shapers though. Game's a blast and is super polished. The best first-person roguelite shooter after Witchfire imo.

1) Balatro (this is the best game of this entire gen, regardless of genre)

2) Hades

3) Slay the spire

4) Rogue Legacy 2

5) Redacted

Honorable mentions to Returnal. I would personally have that game as number 2 on my list, but feel like the rougelite portion of that game is the worse part. It just has an insanely good gameplay loop. Also inscryption is up there for me. Only issue with that game is it consists of 3 acts and each act is basically a different game. The problem is the first act is BY FAR the best part of the game to me, so it falls off a little bit the more you play.

Hmmm, pretty sure I just saw Ravenswatch on sale for like $11, gonna pick it up.

My top ones are definitely the usual suspects here like isaac, Hades, FTL, and slay the spire.
other ones that I greatly enjoyed are redacted, enter the gungeon, into the breach, Crying suns(underrated), and I know there are like 1 or two more that I really enjoyed but not thinking of their names.

Crying Suns was great, amazing pixel art and animation too.
FTL on the iPad was transcendent. Enter the Breach didn't hook me like FTL did, I would kill for a legit sequel.

Isaac and Noita are the main ones I play. I've gotta be REAL careful with roguelikes, since their game design is pretty much crack for my brain, so I only stick to a few.

It's not my favorite per se, but it scratched that Hades itch (better than the current state of Hades II, in my opinion)

Really great Hades-like roguelike starring the Ninja Turtles. The game has some really fun power combos, stuff like "every time you attack, shoot a throwing star projectile" combined with "whenever you throw a projectile, throw three of them instead". The moves are mostly designed to work with each other, so it's hard to get a "bad" run in the game.

My only complaint with it really was that the story was unfinished when it released, that may be fixed now.
