So far gta games sold well coz not only they had very high quality of gameplay/world/story/graphics but they werent aftaid of not being politically correct
The last GTA game was released in 2013, and the Housers are gone from Rockstar. You won’t have those edgy jokes, Rockstar actually had SBI edit them out of the remasters.

If they censored the remasters, don’t expect GTAVI to be any different.

U got a point there, but i will keep an open mind, like i always do, let the game show me first if/how woke it is, there will be plenty time and opportunities to judge it :)

You guys think Ubisoft spent enough developing this game to compete with heavy-hitters like "Banana"?

And yet how some, especially those on their own forum, kept calling (and are still calling) games like FF XVI and Rebirth failures despite seemingly having better sales than Shadows. Good to see some people over there calling out the hypocrisy and, as you'd expect, the only responses to this post are laughing emojis and weak cliched snarky taglines because, no one can actually refute what this person's saying with actual facts or data.

well 16 and rebirth both failure for them because there is no DEI in these games, also alot of salty PC guy follow the narrative because of exclusive deal

Shadows came out 2 days ago. FF16 came out 2 years ago, Rebirth 1 year ago and Square hasn't updated on either of those games figures since launch.

The analyst that recently claimed the 3.5 million number had to retract it because they had misspoke. But beyond that...why does a company need to continuously give sales updates for a particular game? Most don't after the initial launch period.

What is this comparison 😂

Why don't we compare Shadows sales to GTA V from 2013 to today while we're at it?

Shadows might have great numbers but people claiming it's the biggest AC launch in X amount of time are conflating B2P with players, when the latter would also include people in subscription services accessing the game that way.

Truth is we don't know if Shadows is outpacing Valhalla launch-aligned in B2P sales yet. I'd just play it safe and say in the time they hit 2 million players, they did about 1.5 million in B2P sales. Which would put it only a little bit behind Valhalla in sales and, it could catch up or surpass its sales pace through the rest of the month if WOM remains strong.

Also how the fuck are you turning this into an "Xbox fanboys" commentary, my god the thickness is overbearing :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Because it was funny seeing most of the posters there trying to debunk that person's post being Xbox fanboys. And you'd know they are (or at least very staunched diehards) if you followed their posts in other threads, especially the MS/ABK ones.

I'd mention the specific users but it's not worth it.

Well we haven't learnt the numbers for Outlaws directly no? Only when the number of was leaked or something. They will push for number of players in the report.
It’s been reported it has not met sales expectations from its public filings. That’s all that matters.

2 million PLAYERS in 48 hours is terrible

You know what success looks like??

Monster Hunter Wilds, 8 million SOLD in 72 hours
AC Shadows is the 2nd most preordered AC game, has the 2nd biggest player count after a day or two, has the 2nd (and pretty close to top 1) Steam CCU count of any AC game (top 5 for all Ubi games). It's top 1/top 2 in the best selling rankings of Steam and the main PSN stores.

It's performing better than most AC games, a series that has over half a dozen games that sold over 10M copies. We still only have too early data, but it's being successful.

To be successful doesn't need to beat the fastest selling game in Capcom's history.

Ubi is the one moving the goalpost from sales to players. I don't think their shareholders care if AC Shadows is a stealth action RPG or a clicker. Probably just want big number go high. The artists left the building ages ago.
So why dont they release a clicker?

Instead of spinning shit like mat piscatella from circana, lets just call it how it is, so far 60k ccu, which is crazy low, and 2m players announcement, which is crazy low too considering game is on ubi's subscription service, who knows maybe game gonna turn around but so far all the info we got doesnt bode well.
Remember we not talking about some lowtier/midtier budget double A game, we not even talking about AC spin off like Mirage(that sold 5m copies, not players in 3 months), we talking about mainline entry in the series, which is expected to sell 10m+ lifetime and 5m+ in launchwindow...

The game is awesome, they cooked a banger
Maybe I'm getting old but it looks boring to me.

Can't be fucked with open world RPGs which move at a snail's pace. Doubly so if they're riddled with DEI.

The last time I had fun with Assassin's Creed was when the series was on the PS3. The Ezio games were fantastic.

More interested in waiting for games like Painkiller and Doom The Dark Ages.

How much is the highest CCU for an AC game on Steam?

Man, this thread is hilarious. So many either absolutely hate it or are super simping for it. Don't think this game is worth all the attention either way. Not good enough to be praising and not shitty enough to be hating on. Just another Ubislop title, for better or worse.

I find it interesting that people even consider this game may fail. It won't fail, it's an AC game. There's no way it won't break even.

The more interesting question is, would this game be more successful/sell faster/reach more players if it wouldn't try to please a vocal minority and "modern audience" by including a main character that doesn't fit the setting (and even break a lot of the immersion) and including romance options that pander to a group that has almost no positive impact on the sales? And will it impact Ubi's future decisions?

This is such an inane comparison since Shadows hasn’t even been on the market for a week yet.

It's a lot of the usual suspects trying to downplay it and make it a meme, too. Especially among the Xbox fanboys at that place. The people who can't stand this type of post don't want the exclusives vs. multiplats topic brought up because this isn't a convenient time for them.

Completely amazing how you pivoted a conversation about market reception of a multiplatform game into straight up console warring.

Valhalla also did not release on Steam until over 2 years after launch. During that span, Valhalla on PC sold at a much higher profit margin due to it being sold on Ubisoft's own storefront or paying a much lower cut on EGS.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Previous extremly succesful entries in the series ofc.

Considering Ubi is celebrating the two million milestone so earnestly, seems like it's hitting their expectation goals just fine 🤷‍♂️

Probably the most sensible post in this topic.

Odyssey wasn't a day one launch on Steam I don't think?

Or was that valhalla?

Odyssey, yes.
Valhalla, no. Valhalla was 2 years exclusive to their own Uplay store iirc.

I have no idea.

I remember that in the past games were published for PC only in the Ubi stuff, and later appeared on Steam, and that more recently released day one their games on Steam. But I don't remember which ones.

I know origins released day one because I purchased that via Steam at the time.

Every game after that is where it gets messy.

60K CCU, lol. Funny how the woke crowd wants to proclaim this game a success so bad when it's not even putting up Veilguard numbers. It's laughable watching this unfold.

Exposing the sinister cartel of retailers who allow companies to pay for advertising space.
Regardless of the numbers themselves, one thing I am curious about is the demographics that are playing the game, as peaks at the moment are occurring in what would be the afternoon in the US, rather than the evening, even during work days. :pie_thinking:

3w0QOTg.jpeg

It's peaking at 15:00 UTC, that's in the afternoon in Europe and in the morning in the US. That's weird since western games usually peak at around 8 PM / 20:00 local time. The only way to explain the peak is that AC:S is more popular in India than in the west.

Lol

AC is traditionally very much a console focused series after how Ubisoft treated PC players.

They left Steam for Epic exclusivity and came crawling back, but Steam players won't just fork over 70 euro's.

The game is 30 euro cheaper on keysites, which are Ubisoft Connect only keys, not steam. Most people will probably have bought those keys.

It's also available on their subscription service, I'm playing it on there right now. Only 18 euro for one month, I'm sure I'll have my fill by then.

And it's selling quite well on consoles as well.

The retarded crusade against this game has ofcourse affected it. People who won't look beyond what they get shoveled onto their screen on Twitter and YT due to hate clickbait, well they are missing out. This is probably the best AC game since the oldschool series if you ask me. I like the greek/roman setting more but I think this is an awesome AC game.

Im sure you won't believe me though.

It took 2 months for Veilguard to reach 1.5 Million players.
Assassin's Creed Shadows reach 2 million in less than a week.

So it's surpassing Veilguard numbers.

Was this surpassing Veilguard even a question? Really?
For fucks sake Assassin's Creed is one of the biggest IPs in gaming, people need to get fucking real, this game will sell millions. How many millions and whether it'll be enough to help Ubisoft survive is the real question.
If they for a chance expected this to be more successful than Valhalla then they're fucked for sure.

Also, I just want to bring a bit more gasoline to the fire.
TrueAchievements shows a player count for how many xbox players it has tracked playing said game, here's Shadows' numbers and here's Valhalla's. Probably meaningless and not representative at all, but I just wanted to give you some more numbers so that you can scream at each other some more.

GTA6 is woke too. Will the grifter brigade have the balls to attack it?

I imagine they'll attack it initially, and then once the record number of sales start to roll in (like Baldur's Gate 3 did), and realise all that grifting was futile and no-one cared, they'll about turn and pretend they supported the game all along.
