Assassin's Creed: Shadows reaches 3 million players

Black Flag is great but it's also imo the least 'AC' one. They should have spun it off into its own thing back then.

What makes Black Flag more of an AC game than Shadows in your opinion?

I'm assassinating more dudes than ever, stealthily with a single attack.

I loved Black Flag but I was sailing round the world for a long time as well.

Nope, they're desperately to keep the hype going in the first week.

They know most games are front loaded
It took a month for Indiana Jones to hit 4 million players. Avowed hit 6 million in a little over 2 weeks.

Do you think Shadows can match their success?

Gonna laugh my ass off when we find out it actually sold poor in the end and all this was all just subscriber numbers from gamepass and uplay. Their wording definitely doesn't make things clear it's "sales"that's for sure. I guess they took a page out of Microsoft's book of "engagement". Let's see how long that will keep Ubisoft afloat.Certainly didn't do Xbox any favours when they did it.

Ubisoft plus isn't available on PlayStation consoles.
So, it's only Xbox+PC. Changes things up a bit.
Ah,my bad then. I thought I remembered Adam posting a thread about it being day1 on GP. We'll see in the coming months the real sales anyway.
And Ubisoft+ Premium isn't even available on PS5.

I would wager the game has sold around 2.5M out of 3M players. Not amazing or even good, but okay.

Yeah, I'd say that's a pretty accurate assessment.

It's surprising in a way because pretty much every other "woke" project has failed and these DEI initiatives and politics are on their way out.

I suppose the only logical conclusion is the game probably could have have maybe been the top seller for the year without all the DEI nonsense injected in.

I bought the game btw. I figured why not, this DEI stuff is on the way out the door anyway and I like ninjas. It's okay. Stealth is better than before but it's still an open-word slog in many ways.

Why are they trying to make this seem like a monumental victory? Highest day 1 sales revenue for AC and biggest Ubisoft day 1 on PSN are meaningless statements. 3 million players ≠ 3 million sales. I suppose when you've genuinely worked hard to tarnish your brand image over the course of the past year, you have to make an effort to create the illusion that everything is in order.

The game is doing well because people outside of internet gamers do not care about woke this, anti-woke that.

This is the weirdest thing I've ever seen in gaming. Why do gamers care specifically about the success of this game? The constant jizz fest over how many people tried it out is freaking bizarre.

Yeah heavens forbid they celebrate 3 million players.

They are desperate, eh? Announcing every million is... kinda petty.
I thouht so too, but on the other hand lets think about it logically- previous 2m players official announcement was solid(not crazy good but decent enough), now after a week or so they managed to reach 3m players which is exactly +50%, thats great too, it shows solid revenue game made so far, even if we assume 2m out of those 3m are subs, and only 1m is sold copies, thats still better than previous 2m players achievemnt.
Ofc its still not enough for main entry in AC franchise to break even or make any profit, but plenty time left in launch window, 2 more months at least, they could get to 5m players achievement durning that time even...

We are currently somewhere between stages 2 and 3:
The gaming news for this game sales will be just like previous bombs:

*It's selling amazing, eat shit chuds
*Okay it didn't sell as much as needed but it's still a hit
*Okay it isn't a hit, it's kinda bombed, but Ubisoft will survive
*Ubisoft firing employees but they are still working on a new Asscreed!
*Ubisoft shutting down
*Fuck you chuds why didn't you buy the game?

Why? Because they are a company with shareholders. Also, not sure if I would say highest day 1 sales revenue and biggest Ubisoft day 1 on PSN are meaningless.

Same could be said for people who want it to fail and sell badly. That was most certainly mood around here before launch.

They are in a position now where takeover of Ubisoft is inevitable and they are desperately trying to prove there is value in the Assassins Creed IP.

It's a strategy to keep the conversation positive against overwhelmingly negative discourse.

A week after launch, Ubisoft announced Valhalla was the biggest PC launch in series history even though it didn't launch on Steam. I wonder if we see similar PR tomorrow.

Shareholders will be awaiting financial reports not tweets from a community manager run twitter account. They're meaningless statements to those who actually care about sales.

Because it's seen as the latest champion of woke ideology. So people who support that want it to be successful and people who don't support that want it to fail. Many such cases.

We are currently somewhere between stages 2 and 3:
I always maintained that the game would do alright and be in line with the rest of the series. However, I also said that with the numerous bombs Ubisoft produced lately, it needs to sell a lot better to keep them afloat.

I never once thought it would be a disaster.

The game is doing well because people outside of internet gamers do not care about woke this, anti-woke that.
To an extent yeah. The line between people who are aware of this stuff and aren't is thinner everyday. I'm sure it would have sold decently better without the controversy.

I will say this - the dude running the Ubi X account is putting in more work (if you consider propaganda-ing "work") than any of the people who actually made the game.

If Ubisoft comes out during their next earnings call and calls it a success, are people still going to say it failed or just continue to move the goalpost?

I'm sure a genius of your caliber would now that the game doesn't launch on gamepass?

Interestingly IGN is actually questioning it now
kinda demonstrates how the non-stop 'playas!' gibberish bombardment is basically begging to get called out...

don't care how you might feel about this game personally. this inability to use simple sales figures, & instead resort to these endless nonsense stats, is pretty damn feeble...

Thats what yasuke actually failed to do, he surrendered to enemy general when his brothers in arms-japanese samurai were slaughtered in a fight vs overwhelming enemy and they killed themselfs to not lose honor- he surrendered like a lil bitch, no wonder since his whole "samurai life episode" was literally 14 fricken months, specific dates are in the wiki :P

I mean....starting to sound like trolls talking about this game non-stop online backfired, they might have marketed this game for free for Ubisoft thinking they'd stop people from buying it or something.

I remember reading some comment where someone made a video about the "outrage" and someone was like "OH shit a new AC is coming out WITH SAMURAI" lol

So...maybe all publicity is good publicity. Let me remind folks, the fake outrage of Far Cry 5, the petitions, the wild amount of videos....resulted in that game becoming the best selling Far Cry in history.

So shit, maybe we need more threads of AC Shadows, more tweets and more videos, doesn't seem to be hurting Ubisoft at the moment as that algorithm is keeping the gaming community in the loop about this game lol .

What problem did they have with FC5?

If Ubisoft comes out during their next earnings call and calls it a success, are people still going to say it failed or just continue to move the goalpost?
I'm just holding my tongue bc the industry also tried to palm up Veilguard as a success as well and when the actual numbers came out it was a different story.

This Game Will cost 40 bucks on a few months , they right price for what it drivers.

No need yo get it now...My bet it Will reach 6-7 millón players , AC games have legs. Saddly this wont save UBI from it's current status.

If they just released División 3 instead of Star Wars there would be a different story.

I never claimed to be a genius, just shared my two cents, which as far as I know is allowed on a FORUM. And if you took 2 seconds to check a couple posts down instead of hyperventilating that someone shared an opinion you didn't like, you'd have seen that I didn't know the game didn't launch on gamepass.

You seem to have a problem with my post though but instead of expressing it in a well mannered reply you decided to act like a run of the mill resetera user.
