FromSoftware Announces The DuskBloods - Switch 2 Exclusive

being multiplayer is pretty disappointing, but playing a last gen Fromsoft game was also not the most exciting thing on planet earth.

I do expect this to be timed though, after EldenRing FromSoft have a proper household name established for themselves. I see them going full multiplat after a few months.

Monster hunter rise did it, so there is precedence.

For a moment there I though we were getting a steampunk victorian souls game, but nah it's multiplayer slop.

What hurts the most is that there seems to be a lot of cool stuff there.

But yeah I wont be playing multiplayer slop to check that out.
Why is my fav developer pushing back to back multiplayer elden rings out? First Nightrien and now this?!

So disappointed

What blows my mind about this the most is how uninteresting and low effort it looks. I mean how much can they possibly rinse the same pool of assets? Those are fucking limgrave rocks and the whole cast is straight out of Dark Souls 3 character creator. With Miyazai at helm, none of that really matters, it will be an amazing game and a system seller for sure, but holy shit with this and Nightreign it does feel like they're getting way too comfortable riding on that Elden Ring money. That's the last thing I expected next up from THE MAN

We'll learn more about the game April 4 with a Miyazaki interview. Until then I will continue to weep.

I just really hope that this is another case like Nightreign where Miyazaki isn't really involved and is training new directors instead. I'd hate to see him be attached to this and waste time instead of working on the next big thing.

From software has been starting to worry me for a bit now, Im afraid the corruption of success may be beginning to show. The unessesary nerfs, the emptyness of shadow of the erdtree, neightreign kinda feeling like a cash grab, 2 multiplayer focused titles... im afraid the dream is about to fade.

Good God, Sony. You had one job. What a bunch of fucking morons. Did they not learn their lesson from Demons Souls?

Anyhow, looks like I'll be passing on this game. Not because it's multiplayer, but because I don't buy consoles for one game. There needs to be four or five at least and I don't expect that will happen given Nintendo's last two consoles.

Bad graphics, multiplayer game, reused gameplay and assets. From Software is running out of ideas for games, yet people will still lap up anything with their logo.

Elden Ring was amazing and Erdtree was very good, but not quite up there with their best-ever DLC. Not worried at all. They know what butters their bread.

Elden Ring is their best work but.. shadows is one of thier worst "executed" dlc, its absolutely the weakest part of elden ring :(

I need to know more about it.

Some part of the trailer really got me excited (because it was basically Bloodborne 2) but some other felt really off (the goofy flying robot, the T-REX even if I think it's a gameplay mechanic where you steal powers from enemies) and overall it felt like several trailers for different game fused in one. (The creepy moon part felt completely different from the rest for example, and some art direction felt really different in some parts).

But if it's FromSoft and it's not as big as Elden Ring (I hope), I am enthusiastic.

Did people watch a different trailer than me? This is a pvp-focused multiplayer game. The trailer is focused entirely on builds and fighting other players…

Even Nightreign you can play it solo but the reason I don't care for that game is it's battle royal mechanics.

I'm pretty sure with almost all of their games you can play this solo as well.

As for graphic: you can't have new FROM games without GAF complaining about graphics…business as usual.

But why? If he is directing this, it's a game he wants to make. It could actually turn out to be a good game, we don't know enough about it to really critic it other than it being promoted as a multiplayer game.

Miyazaki is directing so I'm in. I'm curious how the multiplayer will be handled. He's talked about being inspired by Tarkov.

"I'm not really sure whether this is the latest trend, but the multiplayer elements that in terms of both technology and the game designs, we keep updating [them]," he said. "So I'm really interested in that as one of the fans and one of the creators. Especially speaking of [Escape From] Tarkov, for example. So I'm basically paying attention to those elements as a creator and fan of the game.

"Other folks in the industry, they keep updating multiplayer network functionality and the game design in order to change the way that the players are involved in the gameplay, and how the players are used as one of the resources for the gameplay. So that's why I'm paying attention to these elements."

Men_in_Boxes Men_in_Boxes is somewhere penning up his magnum opus i told ya so thread

If I were Nintendo I would have been disappointed, they must have paid huge sums for an exclusive, this looked like a budget title. And who wants these fucking multiplayer From Software titles?

>This is a PvPvE-based multiplayer action game in which up to 8 players battle each other and players battle their enemies. Players become the "Duskbloods," who have gained powers beyond those of humans through the power of special blood, and find themselves in an epic battle for the "First Blood.

It's over. From has fallen.

Why multiplayer?

Because Nintendo threw down a ton of money at FROM so they could make them an exclusive Switch 2 game that showcases the console's new C Button capabilities.

Besides, FROM games have always had multiplayer so what's the issue.

Was going to be day 1 until I saw its multiplayer slop. I'll pass.

Still getting my Switch 2 at launch.

Biggest takeaway about it launching on Switch 2 first (I highly expect this to go to other platforms), is that From's targeting making it look and play good on the Switch 2 first. This isn't a case of Nintendo just getting 3rd party scraps.

But I'm sure that exclusives don't matter… amazing stuff Nintendo! Keep those exclusives coming and I will forever continue to support!

Is it though? IIRC they never mentioned exclusive for MH Rise, only said launching on Switch.
While this time they mentioned "exclusively" explicitly.

They always explicitely mentioned console exclusive, timed exclusive, etc for this kind of stuff.

Having multiplayer modes/options is very different from being multiplayer centric/only ... lets not pretend Fromsoft games are "multiplayer" games first and foremost.

Yeah this is going to be exclusive to Switch 2, no doubt about it.

Perhaps PC down the line? Would be cool to play Switch 2 online with Xbox ROG Ally X2 :messenger_sunglasses:

I very badly need clarification on what they mean by multiplayer. Every Fromsoft game can be classified as multiplater. Is it optional coop in a single player game or Nightreign style slop?

Hopefully they give answers on that soon.

I bought a ps4 for Bloodborne, I'll probably buy a switch 2 for DuskBloods.
Same breh

Assuming this is a single player game.
