New Prototype Game In The Works, Playtester Claims

According to a new claim by an Activision playtester, a new Prototype game from the studio is in development.

A new Prototype game is reportedly in development. According to a user on reddit by the name of Bigbyy, they were given details about a new game in the series as part of a recent study group session.

The user claims that the game will see Alex Mercer return as its protagonist. Gameplay will reportedly feature shapeshifting and transforming into other people in order "to infiltrate areas". Lastly, it will be based in New York City.

Insider Gaming reached out to Bigbyy regarding these claims, and was told the following:

"[It] was YouGov survey which asked me to sign an NDA and confirm that I would not disclose the contents," they said. "It then confirmed a series of features that upcoming games will include and how popular this was with me [percentage wise]. It was not a playtest but did specify that these features were already planned as part of upcoming games."

Insider Gaming has yet to fully verify the validity of the claims, but felt it was a rumor worth covering. As always, until it's verified by Insider Gaming with more details or officially announced by Activision, take all of the information with a grain of salt.

Definitely hyped for this if it turns out to be real. Always wanted a third and final game since the story mentioned a certain powerful character who should be the new protagonist in the third game.

I actually liked James Heller more than Alex Mercer which is probably an unpopular opinion.

Now I hope they resurrect Infamous at the same time to keep that old school rivalry.

As much as I want Raven to return to their own titles, I do not think it is a possibility. They just re-launched Verdansk and they are a main developer for annual CoD titles since 2020.

It was more a question than a guess. Was trying to work out who at MS could possibly be working on the game. Of course an outside studio is definitely a possibility.

The first one is so crazy, so many insane moments. All organically, too. Nothing scripted.

You make your way to Times Square, a severe infection area. The sky is colored deep red, smoke on the horizon everywhere you look. The city is burning. Attack helicopters make strafing runs in the distance. Tons of zombies running around. Right at the edge between the red zone and the orange zone normal people walk around but the zombies make it past the barricade, people get attacked, try to escape. A wave of panic ripples through the croud. Mayhem ensues. Out of nowhere two tanks come rolling in, they immediately start firing in the crowd without mercy, zero fucks about collateral damage. It's way beyond the point to care about civilian casualties. Containing the spread of the infection is top priority, whatever the cost. A squad of soldiers come running in from around the corner. They open fire, get zergrushed and ripped to shreds by the zombies. Blood and body parts litter the streets. Absolute carnage everywhere you go. Explosions in the distance, the tanks keep firing relentlessly.

And I'm just standing there on the roof of a building watching this spectacle unfold, thinking "holy shit this game is metal as fuck".
