iPhones are really hard to break

or maybe it's just modern phones?

I decided to go case free with my iPhone 14 Pro Max less than a year ago because my case broke and I was too lazy to replace it

me being the klutz I am, began dropping it. I had AppleCare and nothing seemed to happen after the first few drops so I thought fuck it and decided I would just go case free for now.

fast forward about 9 months and I finally cracked the back glass after dropping this phone maybe 100 times, including having it fall out of my pocket while rock climbing multiple times. I remember way back in the day being terrified of dropping my phone because a single drop could shatter the screen.

what finally did it was me eating shit bombing a hill on my skateboard and having the phone go flying out of my pocket, smashing directly into a curb going fast af

I ended up ordering a replacement and immediately canceling AppleCare. feels totally pointless as I guess modern phones are built like tanks? will likely start using a case again, but don't plan on paying for AppleCare anymore since the phone seems impossible to destroy

It's 2025. You can order a case while lying on your bed, and it'll show up on your doorstep in two days. Maybe even same day. And you are TOO lazy? Wtf?

There are monkeys in the jungle with better damage prevention instincts.

"Wow, phones are indestructible!" they're not. You're just stubborn and weirdly proud of surviving on borrowed luck

I'm thinking of going case free again tbh

And now you're going case free like you cracked the Matrix instead of just the back glass

My guy… the phone literally got destroyed. That's like getting into a car crash, walking away with a limp, and saying, "Yeah, cars are basically invincible."

I love case free so much. They feel amazing naked.
I usually get rid of the case 2 or so years into a phone and if it breaks I'm not too sad to upgrade.

How easy or hard they are to break is just luck though. Depends on what part of the phone lands on what surface.
Dropped my iPhone X hundreds of times before it finally got a crack.

Bonjour

I had iPhones since the first one and the only one I shattered was my XS. Had to decide what to let fall: iPhone or my daughters Barbies.
I´m not a very wise man.

I didn't expect the replies in here, wow :messenger_astonished:

I saw way too many 3GS with cracked screens before I even got my first smartphone, the idea of keeping my main one coverless never crossed my mind. And I never had an iPhone.

I see tons of cellphones with cracked screens. So much for gorilla glass or whatever they use.

But way back during the Nokia brick phone, I dont know one person who dropped those bulky phones 25 years ago (me included many times) and had it break. Those things were tanks.

I use a fully enclosed case, and it has undoubtedly saved my ass a few times. Also lets me play audio in the shower. I tried using a flip case with my previous phone, but it didn't protect the corners
