Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 ≼| OT |≽ La Belle Fantaisie

I let the menu song finish before touching my controller which is incredibly rare and then when you start the game another amazing track. I probably need this soundtrack in my life. Voice acting seems top notch too. Movement animations are very awkward (a little stiff and almost like there are missing transitions between animations) as is the lack of heft to your character. Scene transitions are also a little weird as it seems to give you a short character silhouette when transitioning from in-game to cutscene.

In fact, I'd say the last time I remember a prologue of a game hitting me this hard was playing the original The Last of Us on the PS3.

Calling it a night. Killed the first boss. Game is really really good so far. This is shaping up to be something special, I really hope it's a commercial success.

What are these and how do I use them?

Has any other game come out this year that has a nice soundtrack? Only one I can think about is KCD2.
I think the last TLOH game, Trails through Daybreak 2, had a truly great OST. Falcom never dissapoints in the music department , but Riverie and Daybreak 1 were a low point in their OST record (still 8.5 though) and Daybreak 2 is a return to form.

The swim suit outfit on Pattinson is ridiculous.

Guy is packing massive dong. No wonder they got Charlie COX to do the voice. It all fits.

Just took on one of those big boys the character specifically tells you to avoid and crushed it, great rewards, this game is so fucking good.

About an hour and a half in and I love this game already.

Mature story, very Nier soundtrack, I can tell this game is taking itself seriously and I love it. Lune is also hot AF <3

What a shitty game, could they not idk maybe design good looking main characters?
Rarely have I seen so bad main character design, this is even worse than Edge of Eternity!
Boring "dungeons", I can't believe how bad this game is. Just the same old mediocre modern JRPG. I am so done with this Genre.

Been a long time since a game's opening went that hard right from the start

Sleeper hit of 2025 is certainly a possibility here

Runs and looks great on Amateur PS5, with Performance mode holding a steady 60 fps

The art style reminds me of the Bioshock franchise, which is probably appropriate since it's meant to evoke the Belle Époque period of French history

The music is one of those instant classics soundtracks

Has anyone figured out how weapon affinities work? My main weapon has a C affinity with Vitality, what does that mean? I tried upgrading Vitality but all it does is increase my health, I'm a bit confused.

Just started. The post-processing in this game is truly wretched. Why do developers default to chromatic aberration and film grain on? I have no idea how you could work so hard on something and then have these terrible defaults. With them off, the game looks pretty great!

I love being in a long boss fight then a bug occurs where no more actions can be taken as my party stands by idling so I'm forced to hard reset the game.

I like the game as much as the next person but a 9 or 10 this is not…

just started up the game

omg I'm in love :3 hopefully the devs didn't set her age to something silly.

Only watched the opening cutscene so far, know zero about this game apart from the one trailer at the xbox showcase. Actually pretty excited for this because of the whole visual direction, in fact one of the games I'm most curious about this year, and the brief opening certainly reinforced this. Need to mess with the settings a bit, only getting 45fps at horrible frametimes so far, but that's on me (and UE5), and less about this specific game.

I think I'll try it again with the french dub once I got the performance where I want it

I'm not sure if I'm understanding it right, but I think each year the age of the population that is culled in the "Gommage" (sp?) goes down by 1. In the Prologue, it was 33 year olds. Gustave, I think, is 32. Maelle said she was a "teenager" and I think Gustave said she had 9 years left, meaning she would die at 24. I think that means she's 15 in the Prologue.

Correct.

If she has 9 more years to go that's when she would be 24.

Keep the fap focused on Lune.

She's 16.
I don't get the 9 years, it doesn't work out

At 16 years of age, Maelle is significantly younger than the other Expeditioners. Unlike them, she views the Expedition as her chance to explore the world beyond Lumière and finally forge her own destiny.

My copy arrives only on Sunday.... I could cancel it and go to the shop but I am anyway a bit busy till then. So I'll wait.

Review and feedback looks overwhelming positive. Really happy and eager to start it.

Now going dark, don't want to be spoiled and want to discover the game myself.
I am so weak, left my work a bit early to go to the shop and buy a copy...

Could play the prologue. I love it. The prologue kind of hit me hard. The fact that you see how the people and society deal with the Gommage. How they can speak so lightly about it but still feel it's a horrifying experience.
The conversation you get with people are interesting. You see the urge the society has for having children to "bring hope and a chance" to the future (I find it interesting to see Sophie being judged by this woman for not having kid), you see how they deal with the children who lose their parents.
The drunk guy, Maxime (sharing my name xD), was touching. He lost all hope in the future and expeditions and drown his sadness and anger in alcohol, and neglects his daughter who is morning her mother.

Had a bit a trouble with the combat at first, hopefully you could repeat the fight with Maëlle. I ended up switch back to normal (started in expert) but then I made few combats on the first enemies of Act 1 and switch back to expert, I start to get the feeling of the dodge/parry. And I really like it.

I am just a bit confused about Luminas. Once I master it, I was thinking you could equip it without having a pictos. But it looks like, you need at least a picto equipped to equipped a Luminas you mastered.
Not sure I understood this system.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the expedition numbers goes UP
No because the Expedition Number corresponds with the number written on the monolith, which is counting down yearly

The exception is Expedition Zero, which left the first year after the Fracture when the monolith still read 100

Enemy turn 1, you get hit because you don't know patterns yet.

Enemy turn 2, hope you mastered the dodge/parry pattern. Nope, new attack.

Enemy turn 3, you died.

No retry, travel back and try again.

Maybe I need to try easy mode.

The only plot hole I see right now is if everyone is getting killed and the fate of humanity is in the balance, why would you send a single boat expedition.
You should send a fleet the size to rival Ar-Pharazon's fleet trying to invade Valinor.

Read the instructions first, for the draw distance mod, you have to set the file to read only for it to work and them drop them in appdata where the config file of the game is. I am on Steam so I am not sure how it works in gamepass, you can ask the modder in nexus or read the posts maybe someone mentions the gamepass version

As for Lyall mod you have to just drop the files in the games folder
