Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 ≼| OT |≽ La Belle Fantaisie

Yeah I suck at it, never played a souls game so it is all new to me. Really can't figure out the timing unless I repeat over and over again.

I was really struggling with parry until the 2nd boss (the one in the water level), maybe his sound cue was really obvious or something but I just parried his 3 strike attack 3 times in row and brought him down, it was very satisfying.

Maybe. I don't like them at all, only one's I've played recently are FFX and some of FF13.(all when they came out) JRPG is my least favorite genre, and I've been around since NES days.

That said I kind of like the game, the dodging/parrying makes it more action oriented. It is fun but still has turn based combat which isn't anything crazy. I turned on auto QTE cuz why not. Story is interesting and it's well acted, graphics are nice especially in cutscenes.

Maybe I missed it but I could use a reason why they're sending off expeditions. I guess I know? But why are they counting downwards? I'm like level 10 or 11 if that matters, have played a little bit but not a whole lot. I hope I didn't miss some important side dialogue.

I think I'm over this one. Combat is boring. Maybe I would like Nier Automata better. Still need to play it.

The combat in the game is so goddamn good! Some of the most satisfying parries and dodges in a game ever. Sekiro is the only one I'd rank higher when it comes to parrying. But as someone who loves Sekiro and turn based rpgs, this game plays like a dream.

Nothing is more satisfying when parry the entire combo.

The combat here is absolutely amazing!

I'm definitely gonna do another playthrough on NG+.

I will give it more time just for the story to see if it picks up. But i still feel like the combat and the exploration is in the way of the story. I guess youtube watch of cinematics could be better bang for the buck.

any starting on hard? I always try to in jrpgs, but end up going back to normal after i get beat down because I don't really minmax

as far as I could tell, the only thing that seems to change between the dififculty is the quick time events being more or less forgiving

I could be wrong but I dont think it effects enemies health or AI or much else at all

The first village you visit with those weird mannequins was a bit boring, hope the game picks up from here again
The pacing is a bit off. I guess they wanted to lighten up the mood after the dramatic prologue, but the comedic relief is starting to drag a bit. I hope they change gears in the next chapter.

I think I wouldn't mind if the village npcs were interesting but I found them a bit dull and childish which contrasts a lot with the story and characters motivation

It definitely was a bit of a weird choice although I understand their reasons, they wanted to give a break the player with something more chill as you said

Cross posting this thread for anyone that needs help playing on Expert with ease!

Quel fromage! The French made an entire Persona game based on stereotypes and baguette jokes. And somehow that worked wonderfully.

Otherwise, quite an impressive RPG with strong ATLUS flavour and one of the best uses of UE5 in AA production (just fix the heads size, guys). Hell, this is one of the best UE5 games in general, especially on Deck.

4 hours in, very beautiful and quite self-aware piece of art. Both in terms of inspirations and in terms of production limitations. If you love really great games made on a reasonable time and cheese budget, you should support the devs at full price. Nice Persona ref in the prologue too lol (hardly a spoiler).

What sound cue? I've heard this mentioned but never hear it at all, or only some have it. Same visually, some have it some change it or make it hard to notice or not at all. I don't believe it is actually a thing. I'm not the only one it seems.

FINALLY NO RESTRICTIONS

Amazing game so far. I just don't like games in UE5 something just looks off. Like everything feels hollowed out. Not stopping me enjoying it though.

How long is an average play through? I hope it's more than 30 hours .

Does anyone know where I can find the NPC that wants Necron flesh? I forgot his location.

On the world map he's in a zone in the 2nd part of the world map close to the bridge you create that connects the 1st part of the world map and the 2nd. There is an enemy group to the right of it when you face the portal to get in.

That feel when you either parry, dodge or die to a one hit ko attack. Looking at the stats level up: One could make an entire party of glass cannons with def =0 so long as you are good at the real time stuff.

Maelle with full Vit and HP+Def pictos, or even Might based with a bit of Vit and HP pictos, plus the skill that takes the damage done to her allies + defensive stance makes single target attacking enemies cry hard, you can also equip some 9 AP skills since you are going to gain a lot of AP tanking and dodging/parrying for your allies.

One thing i don't like that much is that you can't recover the lumina points you get when you use the Colour of Lumina item, i'm on the endgame almost and i like changing my party members and testing builds, but to be really competitive it seems better to just waste all the lumina point items on just 3 members. At least when you die, the other members come to fight so it's not that bad but yea, would have liked a way to recover the points given to a character somehow.

Just cleared Forgotten Battlefield and the boss at the end really tested my parry skills, which turned out to be dogshit. I had to dodge most of the attacks, I just couldn't nail the timings. Great fun tho.

I haven't seen the "Danger" message so away on that first one, but I was able to beat it without too many problems at level 16. It is still a one-shot kill from its attacks, but its basically a dodge/parry skill check, My damage output was good enough at that level to get it down within 5 minutes without making too many mistakes.

EDIT: Playing on normal
Yeah I finished one of the areas like this too. But turned out those "danger" areas if you're levelled enough, the danger will disappear the and portal colour will turn yellow
