Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 ≼| OT |≽ La Belle Fantaisie

Not sure if it was mentioned, but the latest Nvidia driver breaks the GI in interiors. So if you are wondering why the manor is so dark, simply install the latest Nvidia hotfix.

So why does the first strike Lumina not work on my Lune? It's the only character that has it applied, yet it's always Maelle who's starting first and I don't know why. I need Lune to start first to burn all the enemies so Maelle can go knto Virtuous stance, but something doesn't work hownI want.

I think First Strike only works with you act before the enemy, is not applied for turn order.

So I'm in act 3 in the first story dungeon and I'm late 30's in levels. I'm reading online and apparently everyone is like 50-60 I don't know what I did wrong. I did plenty of exploring just avoided danger! areas.

First Strike means your team gets initiative to start the battle and gets to attack first, not the order of your members.

Still in love. Beginning of Act2
Finished exploring the first part of the map (have to comeback for some bosses).

The music is beautiful. Especially on the overworld.
And I have the feeling there is some bit of lore in the lyrics.

About 2 (maybe 3) characters.
From the lyrics "Renoir ira ("will go" but I don't get the word she's singing, could be something else), but his son he'll lose" Renoir was not yet mentioned as a name on the game. But from trailer, we know it's him.
And it fits with his "I want my family back !"
Then from the song "Verso, the banished..."
Also I heard "Alina" as a name but could be "Alicia". But I don't get the lyrics after. Have to pay more attention.

Anyway love this touched on the music.

Also I love the Gestral Merchant duel music.

Ok got to that chroma dude that never stops attacking and my parryimg skills have been exposed.

Any cool parrying builds i can switch to? I wish there was a pictos that gave extra parrying time.

Give Maelle the burning and marking shot luminas, she'll be able to shoot at ennemies and have them burning/marked on her own

The chromatic jar is kicking my ass. I know I should probably go and continue the story instead of getting sidetracked and doing bosses way above my current level, but I must know what loot he's holding.

The breakdancing gestral just elevated this game to a 10/10 for me lol.

So many things in that village are hilarious because of how unexpected they are.

Reminded me of pascal's village in Nier Automata in many ways.

Question for those playing on Story Difficulty:

I've read that you should pump up Vitality and Agility more than anything else. Has anyone been playing with this build? If so, what's your experience been like?

Jesus H there's fucking mimes hiding behind dark corners in dungeons .. almost gave me a fuckin' heart attack.

Really like the character Monoco, but I feel like I always have to have them in my party for fear of missing out on learning a monster skill and that's a bit sucky.

Mimes are no longer all that challenging to me because all them share same moves sets, once you know how to parry their attacks they are easy to deal with.

Yeah it just startled me and then that french music starts playing.

ps. I also just gave up on the platforming challenge on the island after banging my head against it for almost an hour. The game's controls are *not* designed for that kind of elegant platforming.

I've dumped 20 points into vitality first, then 20 points in luck and now I'm dumping the rest in agility. Worked out good so far. Level 20 I was 20/20/20

Mostly because of jumping is not all that great, I dont mind platforming when you have Mario and Astro bot like precise pltforming controls but not for this game.

This game is a theorycrafting wet dream.

I spend too much time thinking about synergies and picto setups when I'm not playing.

I feel like I need to read three books and watch a documentary in order to understand Sciel's combat mechanics lol.

I tuned in to a bit of FightinCowboy playing the game when it was first released last week and saw him trying to complete it. I knew right then that I wouldn't even attempt it.

This game desperately needs a mini-map.

For whatever reason, I find myself getting turned around and lost in this game so f'ing easily.

Yep, I get that they had a certain vision but it would have been nice to have a mini-map or even a normal map in the dungeons as well.

So I just unlocked the newest character, you know, the one in the snowy region. He's at level 26 and I'm about lvl 21. Am I underleveled? I feel like I've been getting by somehow but it's kinda hard to judge whether I'm setting myself up for a huge sudden difficulty spike later on in the game or if I'm doing alright. Are there any good leveling opportunies that I can go do outside of just beating fodder enemies?

Also I got no clue how exploration works in this game. There's seemingly tons of stuff to discover on the continent but most of them seem to be just empty spots where you can get 1 item (mostly music) and then you can just leave. Is there a huge exploration aspect to the game that I'm missing and too stupid to see?

I think the main path, including everything that goes alongside it is absolutely *stellar* so far. Just the side content confuses me a little bit. Kinda feels like the game is mostly linear?

Are u doing any side content ? i m in the same area at lvl 33

there is a lot of optional bosses do do back in the first areas of the game that you may have missed.

That's the thing, I don't really get where the side content is. I've tried exploring other places here and there on the continent overworld map but I mostly just find items. I've seen 2 places that had a "Danger!" warning but one of them left me clueless (all I got was an item to awaken some beast but I have no clue how to use it), the other place had blacksmiths that absolutely demolished my ass.

First Map has a "goat" thing thay gives lot of XP / Second map has a dude with a huge "hammer" just behind Gestral Village / Yellow Harvest has optional bosses / There is a lot of Burgeons scattered over the map that ll give a lot of XP / The black and white thing i think is more end game / The blacksmith give a ton of XP too and there is the Chromatic enemies that you ll find inside maps.

Most optional bosses are pretty much No Damage runs at this point in the story, real challenges but they give a lot of XP.

Hmm, alright I think I'll take a look at some of the earlier maps and take a more in-depth look around before I proceed further. Thanks!

Thanks for the tips guys....

Just beat the fucker. You have to do some high break damage at the start and then parry for two turns until his break bar breaks and he gets stunned. from there i was able to defeat him in 2 turns. god i love how powerful ive become.

pictos i used were health on parrying, 30% damage with no healing (you get no turns to heal), and extra break damage on counters.

Love going on adventures with my squad of french wives.

Someone on the dev team must be a big fan of FF V.

General game progress spoiler, but I'm a fan of RPGs like this where the "Epilogue" is more like Part Two of the story, rather than an afterthought. The main goal of the story was completed (Kill the Paintress) but there is SO MUCH content and more story in the Epilogue. You get to break the 9,999 damage limit, more fully explore the overworld, learn hard facts about wtf is actually going on...

Such a good game!

Starting to get annoyed with this. The off-rhythm attacks are so hard to counter - 1, 2, 3 is easy, but when it goes 1, 2 ... 5 ,6 ...8, and they throw in gradient attacks and jump attacks too. Give me a break, I'm not playing Dark Souls here.

Just had a fight (Renoir) that embodied everything I find frustrating about the dodge/parry system. Beat him, but I did not enjoy it one bit, especially since I knew I wasn't actually going to win and he was obviously going to do a boss rug-pull.
