Graphically?Looks like a really good MGSV.
Because gameplay wise this is nowhere near mgs5 unfortunately.

Told ya that rocks weren't ue5 caliber.DS2 screenshots dont look too hot. it looks like a HZD to HFW caliber leap at best. Not seeing any fancy virtualized geometry rocks or ground level detail. Lighting is good but nothing spectacular, I will be very surprised if this has RTGI. Shadows look pretty basic too. The foliage doesnt seem to have any self shadowing. Cutscenes look way better which is probably because they are able to light it way better with fake lights that are not available during gameplay.
This is exciting though:

DS2 will run at 60 fps on PS5. Other related tweets say it looks crisp even in 60 fps mode so its likely 1440p 60 fps like Spiderman 2, Demon Souls, Ratchet, GOW and other first party titles. Can't view the tweet unfortunately, what does it say?
Expected better from Kojima and Decima. its been five years and still no virtualized geometry support? RTGI i can live without since there is no time of day system in these games, but Massive, Remedy and other AAA studios had mesh shader support way back in 2023.Told ya that rocks weren't ue5 caliber.
Nah, its basically MGS5 now. Game is combat heavy with a focus on both combat and stealth. Read some previews that were gushing over the freedom and compared it directly to MGSV.Graphically?

Glacial take if anything, everyone with working eyes can notice that crazy bitch 2 is on a whole other level compared to fedex 2.DS2 does look great, definitely. Though, I think Hellblade 2 on PC has utterly spoiled me, as super hot take: I don't think DS2 looks better? I know, DS2 is a bigger game, and thus less opportunity to focus solely on the visual fidelity. But to me, HB2 has considerably better faces, character detail, and character animation, the lighting is better, and the world detail like the rocks and foliage on the ground is the best in the industry thus far.
DS2 is a proper step up from the first game, but in terms of sheer graphics, HB2 looks to come out on top for me. We'll see when the full game comes out.
AC:S f.e.What game on PS5 looks better ?
And there it is:
Cant believe Kojima fell for this nonsense too.
Nope. I'm currently playing it on the pro in balanced mode and I'm not seeing it honestly. The game can look very average at times.AC:S f.e.
I sincerely doubt that considering how utterly dogshit combat and stealth were in the first game and considering that delivering stuff is still the main focus, you are not gonna conquer military bases all the time like in mgs5, the gameplay loop is totally different.Expected better from Kojima and Decima. its been five years and still no virtualized geometry support? RTGI i can live without since there is no time of day system in these games, but Massive, Remedy and other AAA studios had mesh shader support way back in 2023.
Edit: nope, there is a day night cycle in this game.

Not impressive at all if you consider that this is gonna be the most barren and empty open world on the market.Death Stranding 2 looks amazing don't get me wrong, it just doesn't look to have those fancy next-gen technologies we've been wanting for years now, gotta say, everything after GTA 6 looks decidedly worse. And honestly, it's kinda impressive that it has a 60 FPS mode, but this isn't what I wanted, wanted them to fully max out PS5's power at 30 FPS but oh well, still looks impressive.
go back a few pages and check the screenshots/gifs from when the RTGI , vIsualized geometry, foliage density, weather etc. actually come into play. DS2 doesn`t even play in the same league....If you think AC:S looks mediocre you`re gonna be very underwhelmed when you actually get to play DS2 as AC:S has it comfortably beat in graphical tech as far as we know (and see) atm.Nope. I'm currently playing it on the pro in balanced mode and I'm not seeing it honestly. The game can look very average at times.
Mafia
Avatar, Wukong, AC Shadows, Silent Hill 2.What game on PS5 looks better ?
Mafia
To be fair, AC shadows has a lot of meh moments. It comes alive when weather changes and new areas open up. i was very meh on it for the first 10 hours or so.go back a few pages and check the screenshots/gifs from when the RTGI , vIsualized geometry, foliage density, weather etc. actually come into play. That looks like I remember RDR2 looking, lol. Nostalgia does that sometimes.
I want to see the extent of the earthquake\flooding\fire propagation tech.go back a few pages and check the screenshots/gifs from when the RTGI , vIsualized geometry, foliage density, weather etc. actually come into play. possible. Not holding my breath though. None of the previews so far were really highlighting that so I don´t expect much in that regard.I want to see the extent of the earthquake\flooding\fire propagation tech.
That could be the feature that elevate the whole technical aspect.
I seriously can`t think of many games that look constantly awe inspiring though, not even HB2 which I´m currently using to test my 5080 overclocks, and that will not be topped anytime soon.To be fair, AC shadows has a lot of meh moments. It comes alive when weather changes and new areas open up. i was very meh on it for the first 10 hours or so.
MGSV was cross gen. MGS2 was an aberration. He ditched 60 fps for MGS3 as he went with a bigger more ambitious game. It actually dropped to sub 20s in groznigrad and in most boss fight. MGS4 was also 30 fps. MGSV was 30 fps on PS3. Its main platform. DS1 was 30 fps too.MGS2 and V already ran at 60fps at the time.
I'm judging by what I'm seeing on my Oled. ACS can push all the tech in the world, it doesn't look that crazy (on consoles!)go back a few pages and check the screenshots/gifs from when the RTGI , vIsualized geometry, foliage density, weather etc. actually come into play. and the gifs/screenshots/videos taken from the game aren`t "actual results"?I feel like sometimes, people here are more interested in ticking boxes with technical terms that actually looking at the actual result.
Yeah well technically M1 and M2 were also "linear narrative driven games" but they did in fact featured what you would call an "open world", you just didn't really have a way of playing them in an "open world" fashion. So we'll see what that means for MTOC.
Death Stranding 2 looks amazing don't get me wrong, it just doesn't look to have those fancy next-gen technologies we've been wanting for years now, gotta say, everything after GTA 6 looks decidedly worse. Yep. Mafia's lighting, asset quality, texture quality, and level of detail is beyond anything ive seen outside of GTA6.No I tried very hard to convice myself that ds2 looks good but that's it, its time to say enough with this bullshit go look at mafia trailer it didn't look far behind gta vi as ds2 looks like, truly fuck sony and those 60 fps warriors who destroyed this gen for me, and thanks to big third party studios and Microsoft for their output this gen, sony first party studios and partners are currently on the bottom of shit of this gen
Hope they gonna show more footage on their pax panelYep. Mafia's lighting, asset quality, texture quality, and level of detail is beyond anything ive seen outside of GTA6.
It's got everything you expect from UE5. The most insanely detailed interiors. The fucking perfect wood, floor, and rock textures. Everything feels like actual geometry and not a painted on texture. The lighting is godly especially indoors when all those different lamps create just a completely different style of environment than we are used to seeing from other non RT games. It just looks right. Perfectly lit, beautiful choreographed, cinematography that rivals movies and all of that during GAMEPLAY. Sony studios can get that kind of lighting in cutscenes which is great and all, but i want to see it during gameplay. As for geometry, there is nothing coming close to this. not even AC shadows or AW2 or Avatar. All of which use their own virtualized geometry techniques. This is by far the best looking UE5 game ive seen.
I agree honestly, those mountains & the faces looked amazing but that's about it.No I tried very hard to convice myself that ds2 looks good but that's it, its time to say enough with this bullshit go look at mafia trailer it didn't look far behind gta vi as ds2 looks like, truly fuck sony and those 60 fps warriors who destroyed this gen for me, and thanks to big third party studios and Microsoft for their output this gen, sony first party studios and partners are currently on the bottom of shit of this gen
The game's introduction sees Sam awake atop a vast Mexican rockface with baby Lou, with the camera swinging around behind him and handing control to the player, as seen in the most recent trailer. It's an impressive flex, not least because we were playing on a base PlayStation 5. The level of detail in the environment is hugely increased compared to the first DS, and not far off the Unreal Engine 5 demo that seemed impossible 4 years ago. Notably, sightlines are vastly extended, to the point where we almost felt a tinge of vertigo peering down the mountain range.
Addressing a major qualm I had with the original, this world also feels far more alive, with a large variety of characters (again frequently represented by scanned-in celebrities), wild animals roaming the wilderness and fish in the rivers, and the presence of large bases and forts in the environment, that behave like actual lived-in places, with smoking chimneys and lights that turn on at night.
As if more proof was needed, Death Stranding 2 demonstrates that Guerilla's Decima Engine remains an incredible piece of technology, and the Horizon studio deserves some credit for the technical showcase here, as does PlayStation's Xdev studio, which extends to an impressive variety of environments such as red sand dunes, lush green jungles, and rusting, abandoned towns.
"In DS2, we wanted to be able to provide more options for the player to enjoy. We wanted more variety in the environment, and so we introduced a day/night cycle, rising waters, sandstorms, and things like that," he said. "In DS2, we wanted to bring out the fun of route selection, and a big part of our design this time is being able to make your own routes and decide your approach, which is meant to be a lot of fun."
Players first encounter Neil in a 'nightmare' sequence, similar to Cliff's own shootouts from the first game. It's one of the most visually impressive scenes I can remember seeing in a video game, with dark streets lit entirely by candles, fireworks, and giant Catherine wheels, with particles reflected in the puddles on the floor.
You say ACS looks more impressive on PS5 than DS2. After watching DS2 gameplay, I profoundly disagree. What looks 'meh' in DS2? Cuz I'm not seeing it. I could agree that draw distance isn't the best we've seen but everything else looks top tier.and the gifs/screenshots/videos taken from the game aren`t "actual results"?
No game only consists of "highs", that`s the simple reality of budget and hardware constraints unfortunately. AC:S is the first open world on console in quite a while that doesn´t immediately put me off after being utterly spoiled by high end PC lighting solutions and the 30 minute gameplay video frm DS2 is at least 2/3rds of "meh graphics", too.
you forgot to log into your alt, kevboard.Image quality in that Mafia trailer is not good. There is ghosting
I'm looking at the actual end result for AC Shadows right now, on Series X, in Quality mode… And the game looks absolutely stunning, and properly current gen. DS2, by comparison, doesn't look to hit the same highs as Shadows does.I feel like sometimes, people here are more interested in ticking boxes with technical terms than actually looking at the actual result.
A solo character in low density environments with rock formations and texturework that aren't anywhere close to what we've seen with nanite and tons of missing AO due to the weak lighting... What exactly is supposed to be top tier here outside of maybe the character rendering and the cutscenes? The scope of the landscape? It's "solid with budget but not exciting" if I had to describe it. Wandering through a bamboo forest with the weather changing and some wind moving everything with the rtgi still keeping everything correctly lit in AC:S easily beats anything we've seen from DS2 so far from a graphical standpoint.. Outside of cutscenes maybe, but those don't count... And I don't even think acs is a good game at all....You say ACS looks more impressive on PS5 than DS2. After watching DS2 gameplay, I profoundly disagree. What looks 'meh' in DS2? Cuz I'm not seeing it. I could agree that draw distance isn't the best we've seen but everything else looks top tier.

DS2 has a quality mode who will run at 30 fps and a performance mode at 60 fps like most of games nowadays.DS2 will run at 60 fps on PS5. Other related tweets say it looks crisp even in 60 fps mode so its likely 1440p 60 fps like Spiderman 2, Demon Souls, Ratchet, GOW and other first party titles.
Rockstar is targeting 1440p 30 fps.
You need to face the truth my friend also I tried to convince myself that ds2 looks good then I returned to HFW and honestly speaking it looks better than DS2 even my first comment about ds2 lighting is wrong, and also any game with rtgi support on ps5 looks better than all released ps5 first party titlesYou say ACS looks more impressive on PS5 than DS2. After watching DS2 gameplay, I profoundly disagree. What looks 'meh' in DS2? Cuz I'm not seeing it. I could agree that draw distance isn't the best we've seen but everything else looks top tier.
Characters seems to be the "weakest" aspect of mafia.Yep. Mafia's lighting, asset quality, texture quality, and level of detail is beyond anything ive seen outside of GTA6.

yes, but those games drop the framerate down to 720p or in AC Shadows case, literally leave out RTGI altogether. Whereas Sony games target way higher resolutions. I would love to be proven wrong but the tweets i read from journos said that the 60 fps mode looked crisp which doesnt exactly scream 720p.DS2 has a quality mode who will run at 30 fps and a performance mode at 60 fps like most of games nowadays.
According to one of the previews, the performance mode looks good, but there are quite a few sacrifices that have been made compared to the quality mode.
Not counting HB2.Characters seems to be the "weakest" aspect of mafia.
Am i missing some gameplay videos? it doesn't look better than wukong or hb2 to me.
