The manufacturing cost of the Switch 2 is US $338 (Data from Vietnam)

I'm just glad that they're around to keep Sony in check.

They're making up for the cost to produce this thing by charging 80 dollars for a standard mario kart game and 70 dollars for a 3D donkey kong game that has a god awful artstyle. Add in the overpriced accessories they're selling and nintendo online subscriptions, and they're robbing folks blind and making bank.

Of course they're selling with profit, it's Nintendo.
Not how business works. When you add in cost to distribute, what retailers charge, and taxes/tariffs (tariffs have always been a thing so I'm not talking the raised ones) it could be close to breaking even or even being sold at a loss.

With distribution and retail cut added onto that, Nintendo isn't making that much profit off one. Unless you buy it directly from them I suppose.

Lol, is the same for Sony and Microsoft, they are in the BUSINESS to make MONEY… How you think this kind of things works? 🤣🤣

People here have no idea how business works, which isn't surprising.

If a product costs $338, it doesn't mean it costs that much landed (shipping+packaging+storage), than you also need a cut from the retailer selling it. $450 is beyond reasonable.

What doesn't make sense, Samsungs Oleds added only $10 to the original switches manufacturing cost.

Why would Nintendo not make an oled version for launch?

This is how they get you on an oled version 😂

(others expenses as packing and transportation costs not included) also retailers and taxes.
Assuming 10% tariffs alone (I think is higher for Vietnam) that's +$38 + Packing + $5 + shipping + $5 + 20% retailers cut… I think Nintendo is losing on retailers but direct sales from Nintendo they have a little of gain.

Don't forget tax, the (shipping, stowage, and financing cost) are almost always fractional compared to landed taxes on a per unit basis generally.

This. If this manufacturing cost is correct, then it's evidence that Nintendo's margins are very thin, not that they're making a substantial profit per unit.

Usually you don't make profits at release with consoles, you take a hit and make profits with games and then later on you can lower the hardware cost with changes and you're no longer at a loss.

Nintendo? Nah fuck gamers, I make profits on consoles AND games right now.

And there's suckers here who defend this crap 😅

Nintendo fans love it and justify every move they make

?? Explain how you got that number 😂
338 is about 75% of 450. It was obviously not meant as a legit figure, I understand that there are other costs involved and that retailers take a chunk, but having worked in retail, I can tell you that that chunk is very small, only a few bucks per unit.

🙄 25% is not the profit margin at all… And your maths are wrong to in this equation…
