Nintendo Switch 2 |OT| Switch 2 Nintendo, because now we're playing with power

Just had an e-mail from Curry's electrical store in the U.K informing me I can pick up my pre-order at 9.00 on launch day. Only 2 days to go...

I am absolutely jealous of you not having to do the delivery man waiting game.
My sister has to take the credit for this. Curry's did a low key in person pre order system in store. She had to pay upfront for two identical bundles at around £1100.00. I did of course pay her for mine..............But still she did good. ;)

The original Switch was even better. My local "Game" store did a midnight launch. Got there at 11.45 and there was around fifteen people there was out and home by 12.30. This store has now closed but it's good to know pretty much when you will get your console.

Of course delivery can turn up sooner than launch. But pretty sure there will be some big patches for the console and games on launch day so getting your Switch 2 early might be torture.

Anyone else get their pre-order from target? Wondering if your status is still preparing to ship and if it's aiming for June 11th.

I survived the great Wal-Mart order purge, they've charged me and are getting ready to ship.

I have 9 days off, stocked up on food and drinks. HYPE!

For Walmart bros, what icon is next to your arrival date in for your order? I've been trying to research if there's a difference. A post on reddit said that the grocery bag is local delivery via Spark like black friday orders from store, while the truck is warehouse delivery.
---
I forgot to order the blue/yellow pro case from Amazon and now it wouldn't arrive on time, so I ended up going with the blue/orange Jsaux case.

I ordered two Switch 2s and one physical copy of Mario Kart.

Both of my Switch 2s looks like this:

My order for the game looks like this:

My game is coming in the mail, and it's arriving on Friday lol. Looks like they're sending a retail worker over to my house to drop off both Switches like Santa Claus.

Cool. Mine look the same. Did you order via PayPal? I'm just curious why I haven't had the address verification email but I'm guessing it's because the full payment was done at the time of purchase. who knows

Yes I paid via Paypal too

So how likely do you guys think it'd be to stroll into Walmart or something the morning of the 5th and find systems on shelves? Are they SOLD-OUT-sold-out, or just sold through the preorders? I don't mind a little system hunting that morning but I don't want to waste my time.

walmart seems not good considering they are cancelling preorders, but if you ask stores, they should tell you how many they have for walk-in purchases. You will need to get there early to secure a spot though.

As CrustyBritches CrustyBritches and I were finding out above, Walmart seems to be allocating some of their local stores units to online pre-orders like ours. Stores like Gamestops around the country are already reporting lines forming for Wednesday's night at midnight's allocations. It does indeed appear that these are SOLD-OUT-sold-out.

I think if you didn't get a pre-order, your best bet will be to hit up Costco, if you have one in your area, because their stores seem to be getting 100 or so consoles each, and they're not taking pre-orders at all.

As MSduderino MSduderino says, talk to the manager of your local shop and see if they'll let you know how many they're getting... but you might still need to camp out for hours/days(?) to get one.

Nintendo Warns Switch 2 Owners Not to Peel Off the Screen's Protective Film

This isn't North Korea, we're in a free country! U-S-A, U-S-A!!! I'll peel the console if I want.

I'm not American...

No but seriously, it seems to me that this was already the case with the first Switch.

Good info. Also, no midnight release at Costco so you'd have to get there at open Thursday, 9 AM.

Best Buy Canada as not charged my card yet….😭😭
Best Buy USA, but...

I got an email last week to make sure my payment and delivery information was up to date. I went in and checked everything and my credit card was charged. I no longer have the option to change payment methods for the order.

Beyond that, the order still says "We'll ship it by Thursday." I have the option to change my Pro Controller to store pick-up instead of delivery but I do not have that option for the console.

If I remember correctly from other Best Buy pre-orders in the past, they tend to ship overnight delivery so I don't expect much more movement on my order until Wednesday. Anything prior to that will be a pleasant surprise.

10 AM Eastern Time is when all my local Costcos open (I'm on the east coast).

Depending on where you live and how busy your Costco normally is, I'd probably still get there no later than 9 AM

The original Switch did not have an installed screen protector. But pretty sure the OLED model did.

I have the blue shopping bag next to mine. I guess this means the chance of getting it earlier than the 5th is out which is fine by me. I'm just waiting for my status to update from "Placed"

gotta love so many on the internet complaining they have to use internet day one for a download.
Or that they have never had to do this before. Basically all new tech gets a launch update and games have patches. This has been the case for ages now.

I have the blue bag and my order hasn't been prepped yet, which makes sense if it's being sent locally because they probably won't prep the delivery until the night before or morning of.

A concern? Really?

Considering the switch 1 back compatibility is software anyway I'm not sure what you expect here. Switch 2 games on switch 2 hardware don't require patch. As predicted weeks ago.
Yes, Switch 1 BC is still quite important for a lot of people. This is likely "just" a FW coming in hot, need to tweak the emulator till the last minute and then say a Switch 2 you buy in a few months will not have any mandatory day 1 patch to unblock expected functionality (you can grant me the fact that Switch 1 BC was an "expected" launch feature right?).

So then a PS5 pro without internet is a concern too? No enhancements no patch just base PS5?

It's not a rare case when an architecture changes or there's enhancements that it requires internet.

I mean « think of the children » and all vibes but is it really a concern in modern world? I think not.

even if they didn't have it on the list of switch1 games getting a switch2 improvement, would some switch1 games still notice some framerate improvement if there was slowdown in some areas previously just cause of the better processor?

Consoles that lock functionality behind an online registration yes... like the detachable UHD Blu-Ray drive yes. Then again it is likely that in a few months any Nintendo console you buy will be able to work fully offline too with Switch 1 games without a day 1 connection. For preservation mandatory day one downloads is a concern however small unless it is a case, like with the iPhone, that as new HW is manufactured the OS update is baked in.

What to keep on S1 and what to move to S2? Most of us have substantial S1 libraries. For those with mostly digital (such as myself), how are you prioritizing what to transfer to S2 and what to keep on on your S1 at least at the start? Obviously, the enhanced games like Odyssey and 3D World should go on S2. But a lot of the games haven't been listed as improved yet. I also have stepsons that I don't think I want them playing the S2 undocked at the start just to keep it pristine. Those grubby hoodlums can play S1 if they want handheld.

This is assuming I understand the new key card system (which I hate) and have to only allow the game on 1 system at a time.

Gaf Server is already dying and it's not even Switch 2 release day

Yes Nintendo devs confirmed this. Loading times will be faster too.

OverHeat OverHeat Replying to my own post, but Best Buy just updated my order from "Pre-Order" to Preparing.
