Nintendo Switch 2 |OT| Switch 2 Nintendo, because now we're playing with power

At this point Target is sending them out on release day, still no change from preparing to ship

Walmart charged me a couple days ago. My app says arriving June 5th still but it's just sitting on pending.
Both of these could still ship today or tomorrow and arrive on Thursday.

My Best Buy order is still sitting at "preparing," but given previous experiences with Best Buy pre-orders, they normally ship overnight for next-day delivery. Sony did something similar with the PS5 Pro last year as well.

It's not.
You can compare the specs for yourself.
Lexar - up to 900 Mb/s read, up to 600 Mb/s write, does not advertise sustained write
Sandisk - Up to 880 Mb/s read, up to 650 Mb/s write, 210 Mb/s sustained write
Onn (Walmart rebranded) - Up to 800 Mb/s read, Up to 600 Mb/s write, does not advertise sustained write

Sandisk writes faster and is actually confident enough to advertise the sustained write speeds, Lexar claims to be 20 Mb/s faster in read but you can find a review on Amazon on the Sandisk card that the reviewer tested both and found the Lexar to be slower

edit: also the Nintendo branded ones don't advertise the speed on product pages but it's been reported they are - Reads at 880MB/s and Writes at 480MB/s, with its sustained write speeds peaking at 100MB

But I mean, it isn't working yet yes? It needs a day 1 patch and until then it's a pretty brick
So true... But nice to know you have everything connected etc so you can start all the downloads at around 12.00 P.M on Wednesday. My sister has bought a Switch and she is clueless about connecting it etc. I have already installed a high speed HDMI for her...

Target....

Is that a series X ? 😁

Got some thumb grips on delivery to keep the thumb sticks nice and clean.

Which ones you got ?
Man, these things on Amazon go for BS prices, on AliE and Temu they cost 5 times less but...you have to wait 10+ days for delivery.

Same thing with screen protectors, these things go for a pittance on the various CHY-NA sites and yet, on Amazon...

PSA: Spigen (One of the best brands out there in my opinion) really shat the bed with the Switch 2 accessories, they're flimsy, cheap and just plain overpriced - 30+ Eurodollars for a tempered glass ? LOL, LMAO even, don't fall for the trap boys...

Thanks man.

See, this is exactly what I meant, 10 Euro just for some cheap, flimsy silicone crap, It's not even about the money, it's the principle of it ffs...

Man, fuck this hobby of ours 😉

I think this is the best price/quality option available. I also got 2 matte screenprotectors with a install thingy for like 10 euros.

In all honesty I think these are great prices.

Cases etc are very expensive I admit.

Shak, 10 Euros aren't gonna break the bank, yes, thing is, thumbgrips shouldn't cost more than 1.5- 2 Euros per pair - and that's what they go for on the usual sites, on Amazon...we're also paying for the drop shipping and the convenience of having items delivered quickly.

Anyway, as far as extra peripherals go, I'm gonna get a set of Amfilm Tempered glass protectors, a silicone case that's detachable AND dockable (still haven't decided on one ffs), some thumbgrips and maybe, a cheap carrying case just for the sake of it...

This is why I hate portable systems, there's always extra costs when getting one.

Imo you absolutely need a anti glare/ matte screenprotector if you play portable. The reflections are ridiculous otherwise.

You think ? I never thought about the glare thing, still, I'm not gonna be using it outdoors and tbh, I've always had normal screen protectors on all of my devices (Tablet, phone etc) without any glare problems whatsoever.

Anyway, I'm off to grab some peripherals

Yeah, when there's lots of light you'll be seeing your own face.

I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing though ;)

My Target order is now saying Preparing to ship. No movement on Walmart even though they charged me on Saturday.

It's happening boyz

Is this Walmart brand SD card speed going to matter? Did Nintendo post a minimum requirement like Sony did for adding in an m.2 drive?

How do people use the joycons when docked ? Do you use the included grip ?
Reason I'm asking is, depending on the thickness of a silicone case, maybe the joycons won't be able to attach to it ?

G'dammit, there's just so many configurations with this console that it's tough trying to choose a cover/silicone skin for basic protection...

I'm waiting to buy a micro sd express until you fuckers drive the price down at scale

honestly the main reason I picked one up now was that the Walmart brand 512GB was only $66

edit: it's sold out for shipping though and only one store in all of Richmond, VA had it in stock, so it's not easy to find

should be more than fine, it's speeds are comparable to the official Nintendo branded one after all

It does feel like they are waiting till the last minute just to annoy the hell out of people.
Honestly, no one probably wants to take the chance of breaking street date by shipping and having the console arrive on Wednesday instead of Thursday. They would rather eat the cost of overnight shipping, which given the volume of packages most of these retailers are sending probably isn't that much anyway.

So I was charged from GameStop a few days ago for my Switch 2. Today they put the money back in my account. I hope a cancellation isn't incoming. My order status says preparing for shipment.

Did Nintendo confirmed anything about controllers??

I might buy a 8Bitdo Ultimate 2 Wireless 2,4G Controller but don't want that it may not be compatible later when I buy the switch ....

They might be doing the old Bethesda tactic like with Doom 2016, They know the product is good and positive word of mouth will spread like wild fire.
I don't know, seems like they are leaning into FOMO more than they are positive word of mouth and the quality of their console.

- Next to no direct feed footage (outside of Cyberpunk)
- Allowing preorders for more units than they have available.
- Limiting game preview access for media outlets.
- Blocking pre-release hardware reviews

I'm not saying that the console will be poor quality or that the post release info will be overly negative but there is no doubt that their marketing strategy is to play defense more than it is to play offense.

It's honestly the right move as you know we would have seen journalists/fanboys over index on "Performance is equivalent to PS4/PS4 Pro", frame rates fall below benchmarks for current gen consoles, console launch titles are MKW plus a bunch of cross-gen games, "Welcome Tour" is stupid, etc.
