Nintendo Switch 2 |OT| Switch 2 Nintendo, because now we're playing with power

This will be a very interesting week for Switch 2, amd not just because of launch.

We can be pretty sure that first party support will be strong, but there is still questions about third party. We'll have a better idea after SGF and the State of Play (plus Xbox Showcase).

Hey can you try Xenoblade 3 I need to know what the patch was about

Walmart is offering a 512GB Onn brand microSD Express card for $65.77. I believe they are made by PNY but someone will have to double check me on that, I just did a quick Google search for that info. Read speeds are 800MB/s and write speeds are 600MB/s

Ha. I ordered a 256gb card to be picked up at the store yesterday and when I got there I went to check the Switch 2 section to see if they released anything early and noticed they had both 256 and the 512 Onn Express cards inside the glass even though the 512gb showed sold out online. I immediately grabbed the 512gb and cancelled the 256gb for pickup. Best bang for buck for sure.

Seriously though, if you want to get Breath of the Wild, I think you're best off getting a used copy of the Switch version at Gamestop and if you're a Pro member even better with the extra 5% off. Here is how much it cost me. Then I bought the $9.99 upgrade key from Gamestop but you can also get it from Best Buy or Nintendo themselves. Remember if you are a member of the "Nintendo Online service with the Expansion Pack" tier, and have purchased the BOTW expansion pack previously, you will get the Switch 2 upgrade for free.

EDIT: OHHH I figured it out. I had no idea why BOTW used was so cheap and looking at Gamestop deals I think I found the promo. They currently have a 20% off any used game when purchasing a console so because my Switch 2 was in the transaction I got 20% off BOTW and then 5% off for being a Pro member. So if you are buying your Switch 2 at any point today/tonight/tomorrow and want to get a Switch 1 game for way cheaper make sure you include it inside that transaction. Shit, I probably should have picked up a few more Switch 1 games b/c of that. Oh well, not a gamebreaker.

PROOF btw

Well no Switch 2 for me at launch. My local GS has a laughable additional 25 systems for non preorders for 3:00 and 3 hrs early theres already a line of 15 people.

Im not doing midnight lines elsewhere or camping out at target, etc....because i just dont have the time for it.

Fucking ridiculous....Sucks that Nintendo is artificially creating these situations and not having enough units on launch to create extra demand. Lesson learned on my part too for actually believing theyd have a viable and good system to buy direct from them with their register interest bullshit.

I guess ill just wait a few months and get one then when hopefully this bullshit dies down. Maybe by December ill get my email from them to buy one direct.

The number of systems Nintendo is supplying worldwide is utterly insane...

I think it's unquestionable that third party support will be very strong for Switch 2

I'm just wondering why you couldn't get one tho? You said there were at a minimum 10 more systems left if you got in line. I was at a busier Gamestop since we had 60 systems open to grab and it took a while for those lines to add up. You had a good couple hours to get there in time to be one of those last 10. Also, maybe some of the first 15 weren't all getting systems. Some of the people are maybe WITH someone who was buying a system but not actually getting one themselves. Like out of the first 50 people in our line, I think 30 of them were getting systems. We know cuz of the numbers they gave out at around noon. I'm just saying, I think you had time.

This is horrible news. So, S2 will only improve on S1 games with a patch or if it's dynamic res and/or framerate.
It's not "horrible", it's the same how other console "boost" modes works.

Unless the game was coded to run in a higher resolution (via dynamic resolution) it can't just magically bump up the resolution. It would need a patch for that.

There will definitely be a 2nd wave of Free Switch 2 upgrades. Hopefully Astral Chain is in that next wave.

Portal 2 doesn't work on the Switch 2, but that was never mentioned in their list of games with issues. Wonder how many more games don't work.

Godspeed Switch 2 Day 1 owners! I probably won't be able to pass it up the first time I see it on the shelf at Costco, so that's my purchase target. If supply sucks long term I'll look into putting effort into securing one. Once again Nintendo has the most compelling standalone console on the market. My biggest beef with Switch 1 was the joycons. I never got around to trying out third party options, but I intend to rectify that with Switch 2 and from the looks of it, without the aid of third-party controllers. My wife probably won't be very patient at all when a Mario title drops. The only non-mobile games she plays are Mario titles on Switch, and she buys Day 1 and insists on going for 100% completion. That's some weird consumer behavior, but I still love her.

The scalpers aren't really getting much for Switch 2 so I don't think this one will be a huge issue to get.

So silly too, like from eBay listings, it's only going for like $600-700, after eBay fees they make a grand total of like $50 profit.

My worst nightmare is buying a brand new Switch 1 game and finding out it doesn't run on Switch 2.

Seriously hoping Nintendo has this figured out for all new game releases moving forward

After an hour or so playing around with it, my impressions are very positive.

The new Pro controller feels good, the overall system experience feels more "premium" than Switch 1, and the first game I played, Fast Fusion, looks and plays great.

Gonna fire up Mario Kart next and give that a go.

Torchlight 3, a game that ran like ass (sub 30fps) runs at 60 fps now on switch 2. Only tested handheld though. Didn't know it had an unlocked framerate.

Just got my shipment notification and a text from Best Buy (USA, East Coast). The app says it'll ship tomorrow but the text says it's scheduled for delivery tomorrow. Don't mind either way, just happy something is happening.

Just went to the midnight opening at our local Smyths, my Son's wasn't coming tomorrow from Amazon so he went and bought it from there, no pre-order, we queued from 23:30 and were in and out by 00:20, Mario Kart Bundle, Tears of the Kingdom and an official carry case.

They had absolutely loads of stock, if you didn't get a pre-order and now have massive fomo, try Smyths tomorrow morning.

Can't wait until there's an official list/database built showing each Switch 1 game and if/how Switch 2 naturally improves it.

I wonder if I just went to my local Walmart when they open tomorrow morning would they let me get my Switch 2 instead of having to wait for the driver? 😝

Has anyone tried docking a Switch 1 in the Switch 2 dock yet? It seems crazy to have to put 2 docks side by side, would certainly be convenient if I could just keep the Switch 2 dock out for both models

This thing is crazy premium feeling, the screen is beautiful, Tears of the Kingdom looks and plays beautifully, menus are nice and fast, it's way beyond my expectations to be honest.

Yeah I am really loving just how slick and premium the system feels in general, everything from the big beautiful screen to the new Pro controller to the relatively quick and painless setup, it's immediately a more polished experience than Switch 1 in general.

Wait, so the camera can't plug into the dock?

You have to plug and unplug the camera from the top of the Switch 2 itself everytime you dock and undock?

Nintendo you fucking dumbasses.

How's the D-pad on the pro controller? Please tell me it's miles better than the original.

What? That can't be true… is that true??

I shit you not. There is one accessible USB-C port the camera can plug into when docked and it's the one on top of the console. The dock has only one USB-C port in the back for the AC adaptor.

Like I said: Fucking dumbasses.

I'm not sure what time I should go to Best Buy... I dont like just standing in line a long time, but I do wanna get out of there quick. Picking up a preorder, not trying to get an extra

Can you at least use a USB-C splitter on the dock? This feels like an insane oversight. I'm actually flabbergasted.

I didn't pre order sadly but I'm planning either to go tonight at Midnight or try Target in the morning when it opens at 8 am but I'm just not sure how crowded it will be and I really don't want to have to be there 2 hours ahead of time if I don't have to.

I don't have one to try out, but I hope that works.
Oh, it looks like the dock still has two normal USB ports, and the camera itself has a USB-C port. So you can just use a USB-C to standard USB cable and keep it connected to the dock.

Crisis averted!

It feels firmer than Switch 1s. Not the greatest D-pad ever, but a step up.
Does it have a pivot point in the middle? Does it seem to register accidental up-down presses?

How much did someone say the shipment weighed? Something just updated from FedEx tomorrow (I order a lot of shit) unsure what it is though doesn't say target

Not sure about the pivot (feels just like most D-Pads to me, at least most decent ones) but it has never mis-registered on me yet.
Is it clicky or squishy? Or somewhere in between?
